  1. They say 1 GB per 1 TB of data but it’s a mix of number of files and size. I would say that this estimate is high just to be on the safe side. I am running in an Ubuntu VM and I believe I have allocated 4 GB for the VM and have never seen any problems. CrashPlan is by default using 1 GB max and it will not allocate anything more unless you reconfigure it to do so (I belive I have set it to 3 GB or 3.5 GB) What you would see is that you backup never gets ready. When it periodically scans your files to verify your backup it will never get ready and will just restart.
  2. CrashPlan does use data deduplication so every block of data that you backup is compared with all data blocks previously backed up and that takes time and resources and you will typically see that it is getting slower the more data you have. I currently have 7.5 TB in their cloud and the backup speed ranges from 5 Mbit up to 80 Mbit. The difference is speed is probably depending on the resource usage at the individual server you are connected to rather than bandwidth limitations, at least that’s my guess.
  3. Haven’t really done any proper research lately but here are a few that comes to mind but they might be ”a lot bigger”. Silverstone DS380. Mini-ITX, hot swap drives is good but the case is still to compact especially if you need to use a PCI card. Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. Midi Tower, ATX, mATX, Mini-ITX, no hot swap but good quality and great cooling. Lian Li PC-Q26. Mini Tower, Mini-ITX, hot swap drives, good cooling and excellent quality.
  4. I have the U-NAS NSC-800 as well as NSC-400 and the quality is average. They ship with Drive bays included. I got the shipment directly from China. They are good for low powered Mini-ITX boards where you have all SATA ports on the board even if it’s possible to install a SATA controller in the NSC-800. There is not much space in this case so you need a low profile CPU cooler and fan. Have a look here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=32704.0 I would consider a slightly bigger case just to get some more flexibility and better access to the motherboard.
  5. Agree with mr-hexen and tdallen, I started my first build with a Xeon E3-1240Lv3 2.0GHz and later changed to a Xeon E3-1271v3 3.6 GHz and when I compare idle power usage they are basically the same. If I would convert a video stream into a new format it will be done slower with the E3-1240L than with the E3-1271 but the totally energy used (W Hours) will probably be the same. But You need to consider that the low powered CPU will keep your disks spinning during longer time making the total power consumption higher for the low powered CPU! Decide what minimum performance for the CPU would be, if you are using Plex and need to transcode you need a Passmark around 2000 per video stream. Selecting disks is also important, look for low idle power and low peak currents (at start up). It will likely to be something like WD red with 5400 RPM. Not high performance but well suited for a NAS. It’s also important to use a power supply designed for high power efficiency at the power level where your server normally operates but still designed to be able to handle the peak power needed when your disks spins up. The absolutely best way to save energy is powering of the server, buying new components just to save energy very seldom pays off unless you are running really old stuff.
  6. All looking good now (Dynamix temp uninstalled as well). Many thanks!
  7. Again, many thanks gfjardim! This is really an awesome update, a simple and clean setup that should get anybody up and running CrashPlan within no time at all.
  8. I belive it's a lot easier than that. There is a thread about it but I don't have it now (I am not on my desktop PC). If I remember, just stop the current container, install the new one with exactly same folder mappings and then unistall the old one. This is what I did when I changed from Needo to Linuxserver. But a backup of the config might be good to have...
  9. Both containers are still there and working. An Ubuntu VM works fine as well but I haven't got real time file monitoring working so it only finds new files during a scan (that I have set to once per day).
  10. Thank you so much for your help. I've had PMs running beautifully, in fact, much better than I expected using Docker, in particular the Linuxserver container. It's been a long 1 month road to upgrade. I upgraded 4 of my disks, and only realised towards the end of that upgrade that I perhaps should move to XFS and that part took the longest, shortly after upgrading to v6. Happy chappy now. Cool, thanks for feedback!
  11. There is nothing more you need to install on unRAID but you need to configure Plex so it finds your media files. Since you have the Host Path: set to /mnt/user/Movies/ I guess that this is where your movies are. That folder is mapped to /movies and that is what the Plex app inside the container can see so you need to setup Plex and Add Library, select Movies and Add folders and browse for media folder and select Movies. You can find the Plex Web page on same IP as your serve on port 32400 (like this http://192.168.1.101:32400)
  12. The Limetech container doesn’t support PlexPass releases. You can check here what the different Plex containers supports: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=41562.0
  13. Nope, If I go to Tools, IPMI tool all my sensors are gone. And the normal Dynamix temp and fan readings at the bottom right of the Web GUI is gone as well but it looks like it’s get overwritten by the error message as well. I was able to select and copy it: Array Started• Dynamix webGui v2016.02.09 Warning: array_combine(): Both parameters should have an equal number of elements in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/ipmitool-plugin/include/ipmitool_helpers.php on line 59 Warning: array_combine(): Both parameters should have an equal number of elements in

  15. Thanks for the update! I do get an error message, see encl pic.
  16. Its depending on what Plex container you are using if you are able of doing it or not. I know that if you are using Linuxserver.io there is a possibility to do this since you can specify what version to download. Edit the container, enable Advanced View, look for the Variable Name: Version and set the Variable Value: to the version you like. You can find the different versions with release notes on the Plex download page.
  17. Check that you have VERSION set to plexpass You can also try to set VERSION to a specific version to download How do I get to those options? Edit the container and enable Advanced View.
  18. Check that you have VERSION set to plexpass You can also try to set VERSION to a specific version to download
  19. Thanks. That is much appreciated. And we are glad to have you back again!
  20. Definitely agree that Ubuntu Desktop currently used is not the best candidate as a base for a new container but it might be other alternatives. It has been awhile since this one was released.
  21. Needo is no longer actively maintaining this container but I believe he was the first one making a Plex container. It also had some initial problems with setting permissions. The Limetech container doesn’t support the PlexPass pre-releases that I like to play with (meaning seeing the bugs before they get fixed in the public release…) Besides the Linuxserver container I do recommend Binhex that does a fantastic work with his containers. They don’t auto update, instead he test new releases before updating his containers. If you don’t mind the skipping the upgrade step and instead just let Plex rescan your files that would probably make life easier. If you haven’t used Docker containers before it takes some efforts to understand how you map your folders so that they are visible to the Plex app but this is more understanding the Docker concept itself rather than something being specific for Plex. I haven’t any experience regarding performance Docker vs Plugin but my guess is that it should be minimal. Probably Docker would have some overhead but the concepts itself is “lightweight.” The most important factor related performance is to use an SSD where you have the Docker image and Plex database together with metadata.
  22. I am using the Linuxserver version since they are an active team of people maintaining their containers. The different versions behave a bit different with regards to updates when new releases are available from Plex and if you are interested in the PlexPass pre-releases or not. I have only used needo and Linuxserver and I don’t expect to see any real difference in performance between any of the containers available. I think you should start looking into on how to move your existing database to the new configuration first. Haven’t done that myself but you will probably find posts here and at the Plex forum on how to do that. Along the way you will probably learn a lot more about the different Plex containers available.
  23. I have my VMs installed as you describe it on a disk formatted to xfs. I have set Share to On but you don’t need to if you like to hide it.
  24. How do I go about updating manually? Restart the container to update. Currently version 0.9.15.3 is the latest PlexPass release.
