That sounds like what I need. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the clear and concise info!

Interesting about cache_dirs, I'll have to try it out. If my drives are spun down and I start Kodi, how does Kodi scan my library for new media without spinning them back up? Also, RE: Emby. I'm using TinyMediaManager now. Here is my 'workflow' 1) Copy file to unRaid server from a desktop PC 2) Open TinyMediaManager on said desktop PC, scan for new files, scrape metadata 3) Open Kodi on HTPC and scan for new content Is Emby a better way to streamline this? That would be great. I do have a 2nd Kodi client (ShieldTV) and controlling the watched status would be nice!

So who else here is storing media on an unRaid server with playback to a Kodi HTPC? What are your experiences with it? I've found it is best to add sources in Kodi as an SMB share. I've had no issues with read speed from unRaid affecting Kodi playback. I do have issues with navigating my library. Whenever a hard drive spins up in unRaid, the Kodi interface hangs until all drives are accessible. Furthermore, if I begin playback, then continue navigating my library, then other drive spins up, playback hangs until the spin up of the new drive completes. I also think that scanning my library takes a long time. I have a fairly extensive music, movie, and TV show collection but it still seems like the library should be able to scan for updates quite quickly. Does everyone have these issues? Have you found any tips and tricks with unRaid + Kodi?
  4. Is there a way to view the tracker status? I've always used uTorrent before moving to this docker container and it was easy to just scan through the list to see what torrents may have been deleted from the torrent server (so that I can stop seeding them). The only way I've found in Deluge is to click each individual torrent and see if tracker status says "announce OK" or "failure unregistered torrent" I like to seed my torrents for a long time, but usually the servers take down the torrent if a new version is uploaded.
  5. Thanks, it turned out one was empty. First time setting up a docker (Deluge) specified my existing torrent directory, except in lower case. Tried to delete in Windows, and as your plugin says, weird stuff happens. I THINK it's all sorted out now...
  6. how do I fix the problem of having multiple folders with names that only differ by case? Viewing them through Midnight Commander shows both folders contain the same data
  7. Thanks! It is not too late, I'm hoping to have some files transferred and a parity check done by the end of the weekend before I do the reset.
  8. Great, your input is very appreciated everyone. I will make sure I have my drive names/locations documented. It sounds like "losing" user shares won't be a problem. They are not setup in any special way. Crossing my fingers I solve my performance problems this weekend and can save the money I was putting towards new server hardware for a new gaming monitor instead. I built this server back in 2010 so it has been through a few software updates to say the least.
  9. Thanks! How does it know what my user shares and login/password are? Are these stored on the parity drive?
  10. I'm running unRaid 6.1.9. Parity x1, data x5, cache x1. Everything is working, parity is checked and valid. How do I go about resetting everything without loosing data on my data drives? I have some plugins, but nothing fancy like dockers, VMs, or the like. They would be easy to reinstall and reconfigure. I'm trying to chase down some performance issues and this is the last thing to try before buying new hardware.
  11. Did you look at the whole screen? I believe there is a checkbox near the start button that enables formatting of all unmountable disks. There sure was... thanks! This isn't the first time unRaid has made me feel particularly illiterate
  12. I believe when I did that it did not prompt me to format the drive, it just said "unmountable" I'm not sure if it matters or if I was clear, but empty disk1 has been in my array for some time and was only recently emptied to other disks
  13. Guys, I'm lost here. I have the following 4TB drives in my array running the latest official version of unRaid (6.1.9) Disk1 - RFS - empty Disk2 - RFS - full Disk3 - RFS - full Disk4 - RFS - full Disk5 - RFS - full I thought I could just stop the array and change the filesystem on the empty drive. That didn't work. How can I change the filesystem to XFS one drive at a time without rebuilding parity everytime?

  15. When I left for work on Friday the preclear on my 4TB hard drive was almost finished - 92% on the reading of the disk post clearing. I was out of town for the weekend - just got back and found I had lost power to my apartment as my unraid server was off. Is there a way to check my results - ensure that the preclear completed before losing power and that everything was OK? I used a spare computer and a free version of unraid to preclear this drive. Unraid v4.7
  16. If I don't export disk shares and only use user shares, I need to the "-u" argument for this to work properly, right?
  17. I use these in my TV stand/on the back of my TV/everywhere possible: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10520&cs_id=1052006
