no it will when disk1 is full create next one i think? Or you could create share (folder ) on disk2 , and put a temp file there. This will then appear on the share. eg: share name Apps \\tower\disk1\apps (exists) \\tower\disk2\apps (creae this folder) create a file TEST.txt on \\tower\disk2\apps browsing to \\tower\apps test.txt will appear AND contents from disk1 apps share.

Had a quick look at the screen shot of the program, lot of options! the renamer program i use has a nice simple layout (but powerful options) http://www.den4b.com/?x=products&product=renamer I also use it for digital photos to rename all IMG_xxx.jpg to the EXIF date Great thing about is you can save your rename options and reload them any time. -

Raw_Read_Error_Rate & Spin_Up_Time appear to be high (if im reading them correctly?) Attached is the logs including smart logs. syslog-2011-10-19.zip smart.zip

Macrium Reflect http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx?x-free=Y backup solution (automatically backups my pc to the unraid system every Saturday night) also backups once a month the unraid flash drive to my hard drive (have seen some horror stories with flash drives getting wiped but no backup done). If the computer is not on when the backup should be done ,it will do it the next time Was very impressed and went and bought the software £35 if anything happens to my pc, i can boot up using a cd, and it see the unraid system and reload the disk image on the fly. -

Teracopy http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php Can pause, skip copying of files, also does crc check Treesizehttp://www.jam-software.com/freeware/ TreeSize Free shows the size of a folder including all subfolders and files. In an Explorer-like style, also the wasted space -
looks great! though i think fusion io are the more expensive and faster option http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/10/04/fusion_io_gen_2/ "The SLC version of the ioDrive 2 Duo can deliver 900,000 write IOPS and 700,000 read IOPS, at 3GB/sec. The first-generation product did 262,000 and 261,000 respectively, at 1.5GB/sec reading and 1.1GB/sec writing speeds" Defn, getting to the stage where the interface is going to be a bottle neck.

unraid 5.0 smb share - Can't access from windows 7
nickcardwell replied to Swixxy's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
is that http://tower then utils then new permissions ? This is a one-time action to be taken after upgrading from a pre-5.0 unRAID server release to version 5.0. It is also useful for restoring default ownership/permissions on files and directories when transitioning back from Active Directory to non-Active Directory integration. This will start a background process that goes to each of your data disks and cache disk and change all file and directory ownership (uid/gid) to 99/100, i.e., to nobody/users. In addition it sets permissions as follows: For directories: -rwxrwx--- For read/write files: -rw-rw--- For readonly files: -r--r----- This process can take a long time if you have many files. -
This is sort of what i do at the moment. (though i dont install apps to the unraid) Small (60gb ) SSD , with my docs, videos, pictures, music all set to point to the tower. It works for me (especially with the cache drive) If the tower is not running , it (windows) runs REALLY slow (as its trying to access some of the folders)

Also in the uk myself, upgraded parity to wd 3tb , been running for about a week (though not much saving/reading from the drive tbh) running beta 12. Will be adding another 3tb drive as data in the next few weeks then will be able to test fully.

Slow Rebuild ? Or is it?
nickcardwell replied to nickcardwell's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
Hi John, 4 Drives in total WAS: 2TB Parity,2TB Data,1TB Data,500GB Data NOW: 3TB Parity,2TB Data,2TB Data(from above parity), 1TB Data Using hacked bios, no sata card, nothing in CD bay (yet!) running top (see attached txt file) its not very processor intensive top.txt -
Unsure if this is the norm, or because of V5 beta 12 Upgraded parity disk from 2TB to 3tb (took all weekend) After everything was fine (rebooted etc) Removed disk3 (500GB) and replaced it with old parity disk (2tb) The 500GB had not much on it (approx 100-300GB) Starting to rebuid but its taking ages (see below) Total size: 2 TB Current position: 11.43 GB (1%) Estimated speed: 11.31 MB/sec Estimated finish: 2930 minutes Is this normal ? Server is a hp proliant microserver with 2GB of ram. Attached is the syslog. syslog.txt

what sort of deal? At least once a week a HD deal appears on : http://www.hotukdeals.com/ Also sign up to :http://www.overclockers.co.uk/newsletter.php or to view weekly offers http://www.overclockers.co.uk/thisweek.php Also dont forget to look at amazon (i find them cheap for some items as well ) for small (up to 6 disks) unraid server, you can not get any cheaper (i dont think anyway) than a HP Proliant Microserver (anything between £120-£130) (Costs £100 more, but you claim back £100 from HP)

Link above , also does IR, but does not say what hdmi version it supports OR this one does support IR & hdmi 1.3 http://ukhdmi.com/octava-hdocat-uk_QQ101767 Also to note , it requires two CAT 5/6 runs of cable.

Possibly a good deal (if it works)HP E200 8 port sas/sata card
nickcardwell replied to nickcardwell's topic in Good Deals!
In deed massive ! im sure its good for something not UNRAID! -
4.7 Got it sorted, i have 4 disks in, parity (2tb), 2tb storage (disk1) , 1tb storage (disk2), and .5tb (disk3) i removed disk3 (via web page), and made it a cache disk, unraid was complaining (red light against disk3) So to fix, made sure the cache disk was blank, stopped the array , made it a storage drive Let it do its stuff, and parity button is their now.

came across this post, mine is at 73 days, and went to do a verify , but cant see the button anywhere! am i being stupid ,closest i have seen is http://tower:8080/array_management then the button that says "check parity" ?
