  1. It's much appreciated. I'd been using Dockers only for about a month and this is the first time I'd seen the Advanced button! <sigh> I'm sure I'll have more questions on this later
  2. As is the case with most things in my life, as soon as I asked here I dug *just* a little deeper and (finally) found the advanced button. I think I got this ;-)
  3. Hey guys - I feel like I'm doing something wrong with Dockers, and they just aren't clicking for me for everything. A few apps, like Headphones and Mylar, I couldn't get to update - so I switched to the Plugins on those. The question I currently have though now is with the Headless Kodi app. I can't get my AdvancedSettings.xml to stay. I feel like this is a bigger issue I have with my Dockers than anything else, and it's almost 100% PEBKAC. I can give whatever logs are needed, and I promised I tried searching - I just started on them a little bit ago and want to like them more than Plugins, but the "little things" are making it hard for me to understand. To give context, I have a 60GB SSD I host my Plugins and Docker (images and config) that is managed outside of my array via SNAP v6. Thanks in advance for any help. I have a two year old kiddo that takes up most of my time after work, so while I may not be *super* responsive to any updates / offers of help, I am *super* appreciative to any advice. Thanks again!
  4. Hey - sincere apologies but I didn't see this anywhere (it could have been in front of my face, but I just put my two year old down so I likely missed it) - I'm newer with Dockers and have figured out how to replace most of my previous apps, and I've honestly never really "liked" headphones, but I at least wanted it working. After installing the Docker for that, I just get constant "Unknown version, please update or close" and every time I click Update it doesn't do boo. I can't figure out where to run a git update, or where these are located, or if I should just delete the damn program already. Thanks for any help - it seems to just search for the version over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over - I've tried reinstalling and placing in a new folder - that didn't seem to change much.
  5. I installed SNAP and use an SSD to run all my apps. It's really fast. I do use a cache drive, but that's for downloads, temp files and transfers.
  6. This guide doesn't need any updating, outside of maybe linking to an updated SQL pkg (or whatever unRAID uses now).
  7. Thanks - I started the rebuild and will reboot when that's done to post a log. At this time it's pretty big and likely too large.
  8. Last night something happened, not sure what, but this morning after a soft reboot (logged in via IP KVM and entered "reboot") I get a couple of odd counts on my drive. I realize I'm getting low on space ;-), but this seems really odd. (I'm going between a 15 drive case to a 24, and that is shipping, so I haven't been able to put new drives in before I get scolded). Thanks for any help at all - it's my entertainment keystone (my WMC records there, I save my .tivo files there) and I'd love to watch some Cosmos tonight. I am able to use some of the apps (SAB works, from what I can tell, but that saves to a Cache drive) but when I go to navigate it throws Windows errors. I've "removed" the drive, started the array and re-added, but I still get the same error. It's in the process of rebuilding now, but I have this odd feeling I'll still run into issues. I tried searching the forum for answers and couldn't find anything, but if it's super obvious and I just "didn't get it" please don't hesitate to let me know Thanks once more for any help, it's really appreciated.
  9. Dude - thank you. I had updated to version 2.0b a while back but things just never worked... there were some issues with UNRAID around the same time so I blamed some system errors on that. Finding this post made me realize I had never done the AMI2.bat step, as it isn't mentioned in their instructions. Since I was on 2.0b already I figured I'd just try to update using the second method and see if that let me. No dice. I went through and did the steps as if I was still on 1.x and it worked awesome. I had never noticed my ECC RAM was in Non-ECC mode - that would probably have been enough for most people but... Anyway, thanks a bunch for the instructions - I have all of my RAM for the first time in six or seven months and I'm giddy!
  10. Thanks for the advice, guys. I updated Memtest on my USB stick and ran through it and found the culprit. I was able to take the dirtable command out of my GO script, too... like I said, with a newborn I have just a *little* less time at the moment so I appreciate the support! (I was up way too late last night with this, as it was the first time I was able to downgrade my HDD card controllers to .15, do the Memtest, and fix a red-balled 3TB hard drive . I still have a few other issues that I'm looking to work out, but I think that I have it running better than I have in four or five months!).
  11. I'll check it out tonight overnight. Thanks for the suggestions - I hadn't thought that the older versions may not have "triggered" this.
  12. I had it working in earlier versions, though. RC11 or so started the crashes if I recall.
  13. Hi - I think I've seen other threads regarding my question but my wife and I had our first kid recently and I've fallen behind on defects/bug reports. My build is in my signature block below, and when I use more than 4GB of RAM (I have the Menu Default set to a custom boot that limits my RAM to 4GB) it restarts/crashes pretty quickly. It wasn't always this way, and I thought I read that Tom said that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for any information. I am on my way to a family gathering so folks can see the kid-o, so I can't post too much. If anyone has any useful information I'd be super happy to read later (or at the family gathering on my phone ;-)). Thanks a bunch once more!
  14. I had that same issue, too, so I just removed the space on the folder per disk basis. I thought it was just me.
  15. I've replied to that thread, but not since installing RC12. I believe I was on RC11 then. Thanks!
  16. Yeah - the code... label unRAID OS (MAX 4GB RAM) menu default kernel bzimage append mem=4095M initrd=bzroot ...placed in my syslinux.cfg seems to work for now. I'd really enjoy my 16GB of RAM, and the last two or three RCs seem to make things worse than better (the slow transfer speeds with my board unless I put "sysctl vm.highmem_is_dirtyable=1" in my go file, the random reboots, I was having problems with Plugins...). Is there any thread where this is information is being collected? I didn't see one when I looked through the forum or ran a search, but if more is known or I can add to it, I'd be happy to help.
  17. Thanks! I had done that already, but must have missed where SimpleFeatures got moved. I appreciate the heads up.
  18. Yeah - I was wishing that it wouldn't need to be that way. In another thread, it sounds like my system is having known issues so I'll probably do that. Re; doing it while still only having 4GB of RAM... it may be worth it just to try, particularly if the system is rebooting all the time anyway. What's it going to hurt?
  19. Oh - thanks, that's great to hear (honestly it is... I'd rather know there was a known issue with both... it'll stop me from going crazy).
  20. I was getting this with a Supermicro board as well. I put the following code in my syslinux.cfg (found on /boot; the root of your flash drive) and it seems to stop the restarts for now (it also limits my available RAM, and that kind of sucks...). I have to pick this when I restart, as I made it the third option after memtest, but at least it's usable. label unRAID OS (MAX 4GB RAM) kernel bzimage append mem=4095M initrd=bzroot Good luck, thanks!
  21. Hi - I upgraded to unRAID Beta 5rc12a over the weekend, but since then I have been having quite a few issues. I have a Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O with 16GB of RAM and unless I boot unRAID with some command I found to limit the RAM to ~ 4GB the machine will reboot when larger operations occur (transfers, unpacking from SAB, etc). Also, SimpleFeatures hasn't worked for me since I upgraded from 5rc8. I've used unRAID for a few years, but I've upgraded from 4.7 to 5rc12a through several steps and was thinking it may be a good time to start over, but preserve my data (of course) I had a few questions before starting, though, and I've searched the forum but couldn't really find my questions answered in one place, so I figured I'd see what the Brain-Trust™ had for opinions. I'm not in a huge rush, as things work when I boot accessing just 4GB, so any information or insight is very appreciated. [*]Will it be possible to nuke most of my thumb-drive (outside of the Pro license) and start over? I'd like to keep the data on the drives and don't care if I need to re-do the parity. [*]Is it worth it to load ESXi on the machine? I've heard there are some issues with Ivy Core earlier, but since I don't use it I am not as familiar with the issues and limitations (if any). My wife and I are expecting a child any day, so I'd also like to do this quickly without losing access to the data, as my primary use is as a server for HTPCs set about the house... but I think my server may be overkill for just an unRAID server. Thanks for any information or insight. I really do appreciate any help that can be provided, as I feel like I'm at the limit of what I can do without more information. Any current and relevant links are also appreciated! Thanks once more!
  22. I get ~ 1.2 - 2.5MB/sec transferring from Windows to my unRAID with the Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O. I can't do the Parity wipe but I'll see if I can do the other test and write back. Thanks! Edit: I did the tests and still get approximately the same speed. I realized I also just recently upgraded my Parity drive to a WD Red 3TB, so I doubt that is the problem. Edit Edit: Saw you need to do this in the command: sysctl vm.highmem_is_dirtyable=1 That worked. Sorry.
  23. Same here. I'm having problems with the new version as well, where I can't even load my array when it's installed. I've gone back to base, but noticed my parity build and transfers to the cache drive were all much quicker.
  24. Take the time and let it run overnight if you need to. The New Permissions script runs across all your user shares and is the best option to use, honestly. Take the time to do that first.
  25. Are the files that are giving you problems in folders that don't have full read/write permission or are "owned" by a different user? Even when downloading with 777, my understanding (that could be wrong) is that files inherit their parent directory's permissions.
