  1. Lucky me to be running the opposite of everyone else. I did buy them stock, and then flash them with firmware 20. It looks like even with the new settings I am going to be sub-90MB/sec: Total size: 6 TB Elapsed time: 9 hours, 26 minutes Current position: 3.22 TB (53.7 %) Estimated speed: 83.6 MB/sec Estimated finish: 9 hours, 14 minutes I am confused and somewhat frustrated. Story of my life...
  2. Nothing gets changed until the very end when it asks you to change values, and then confirm. You are safe. For what it's worth I re-downloaded the txt file in the first post, and using notepad I did a search and replace of /root/mdcmd to the new path, saved it to my flash drive and then ran the script.
  3. I had previously been getting around 95MB/sec parity check on my SAS2LP cards. I just swapped them out for M1015s and ended up with 82.6MB/sec, so decided to run the tunables script to optimize. When I ran, I got the following: Test | num_stripes | write_limit | sync_window | Speed --- FULLY AUTOMATIC TEST PASS 1 (Rough - 20 Sample Points @ 3min Duration)--- 1 | 1408 | 768 | 512 | 118.0 MB/s 2 | 1536 | 768 | 640 | 118.2 MB/s 3 | 1664 | 768 | 768 | 118.2 MB/s 4 | 1920 | 896 | 896 | 118.2 MB/s 5 | 2176 | 1024 | 1024 | 118.2 MB/s 6 | 2560 | 1152 | 1152 | 118.2 MB/s 7 | 2816 | 1280 | 1280 | 118.2 MB/s 8 | 3072 | 1408 | 1408 | 118.2 MB/s 9 | 3328 | 1536 | 1536 | 118.2 MB/s 10 | 3584 | 1664 | 1664 | 118.2 MB/s 11 | 3968 | 1792 | 1792 | 118.2 MB/s 12 | 4224 | 1920 | 1920 | 118.2 MB/s 13 | 4480 | 2048 | 2048 | 118.2 MB/s 14 | 4736 | 2176 | 2176 | 118.2 MB/s 15 | 5120 | 2304 | 2304 | 118.2 MB/s 16 | 5376 | 2432 | 2432 | 118.2 MB/s 17 | 5632 | 2560 | 2560 | 118.2 MB/s 18 | 5888 | 2688 | 2688 | 118.2 MB/s 19 | 6144 | 2816 | 2816 | 118.2 MB/s 20 | 6528 | 2944 | 2944 | 118.2 MB/s --- Targeting Fastest Result of md_sync_window 640 bytes for Final Pass --- --- FULLY AUTOMATIC TEST PASS 2 (Final - 16 Sample Points @ 4min Duration)--- 21 | 1424 | 768 | 520 | 118.2 MB/s 22 | 1440 | 768 | 528 | 118.2 MB/s 23 | 1448 | 768 | 536 | 118.2 MB/s 24 | 1456 | 768 | 544 | 118.2 MB/s 25 | 1464 | 768 | 552 | 118.2 MB/s 26 | 1472 | 768 | 560 | 118.2 MB/s 27 | 1480 | 768 | 568 | 118.2 MB/s 28 | 1488 | 768 | 576 | 118.2 MB/s 29 | 1496 | 768 | 584 | 118.2 MB/s 30 | 1504 | 768 | 592 | 118.2 MB/s 31 | 1520 | 768 | 600 | 118.3 MB/s 32 | 1528 | 768 | 608 | 118.2 MB/s 33 | 1536 | 768 | 616 | 118.3 MB/s 34 | 1544 | 768 | 624 | 118.2 MB/s 35 | 1552 | 768 | 632 | 118.3 MB/s 36 | 1560 | 768 | 640 | 118.3 MB/s Completed: 2 Hrs 9 Min 43 Sec. Best Bang for the Buck: Test 1 with a speed of 118.0 MB/s Tunable (md_num_stripes): 1408 Tunable (md_write_limit): 768 Tunable (md_sync_window): 512 These settings will consume 126MB of RAM on your hardware. Unthrottled values for your server came from Test 31 with a speed of 118.3 MB/s Tunable (md_num_stripes): 1520 Tunable (md_write_limit): 768 Tunable (md_sync_window): 600 These settings will consume 136MB of RAM on your hardware. This is -422MB less than your current utilization of 558MB. NOTE: Adding additional drives will increase memory consumption. It looks really odd that all the values are virtually identical. Does this make sense? Is there a potential issue? I wasn't necessarily expecting dramatic variations, but did expect some differences. Also, as a suggestion... it would be great if the tunables text file including the current settings for the 3 variables in it's output so they can be easily referenced again. I wasn't smart enough to write them down before making the change, but would like to have had this documented for reference in case of an issue.
  4. For TV shows I let SAB/SB manage, but movies I manage manually. I tend to vet each movie to ensure it's English language default and strip other languages and sub titles. For these I use Media Companion to scrape. I do this so that I can confirm each movie is identified correctly as well as I can add backgrounds for those movies missing them as well as set tags on some movies. I use Kodi on the TVs at home and have a filter for movies for my daughter. I use MC to set the tag so that they get caught by the filter. MC is free and continuously updated, which is great. I've had a few issues over the years but have been able to report to the developer and work with them to resolve. It's worked great for me.
  5. I find the Update option often hangs, and has to be closed. Sometimes its on the first item, sometimes 1/2 way down. It seems random on whether it will complete or not. Any one else having this issue? Any suggestions? For reference I have most Dynamix plugins and the APCUPSD plugin installed.
  6. Are you hinting that we will be seeing this soon, or just trying to make us jealous?
  7. I agree. I definitely prefer the set and forget mentality.
  8. Thanks. I assumed as much, but wanted to confirm before heading out for a few days. Thankfully I am only syncing 170GB so it will take 1.4 days according to the GUI, which isn't too bad I suppose.
  9. One last question on this.... Is there any reason to keep the app or the taskbar app running on the Windows PC once I've set the backup up? Or do I only need to launch it if I am making changes to the UnRAID Crashplan config? I am guessing I only need to launch it when working on the app, but want to make sure I am accurate.
  10. I figured it out.. basically I'm an idiot. I had updated the ui.properties on the Windows PC, however... I forgot to remove the # on the line (Notepad blurs everything together and I didn't really notice). I updated the file correctly, and life is good. Thanks for the assistance.
  11. OK, once you connect via putty it should just be a matter of setting the "service port" in your ui.properties file to 4200. That step in Crashplan's docs is kind of buried. Then when you start the crashplan client on windows it should see the folders on unRAID and NOT the folders on Windows. You won't be able to see both at the same time. I did set that on my Windows machine, and used the Putty config to set the tunnel, however there are two points that I am unclear on: 1) When you putty in using SSH are you supposed to log in? If so, is it UnRAID credentials? 2) in the document it has you run netstat and shows both the UnRAID server IP as well as loopback (127.0.0.1). I only see the UnRAID server IP. Could either of these be my issue? The documentation seemed pretty straight forward which is why I am sort of confused.
  12. I'd revert the changes you made and then follow the directions here: http://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/Latest/Configuring/Configuring_A_Headless_Client You basically setup a SSH tunnel from your Windows machine to unRAID, and the Crashplan GUI you installed on Windows then communicates over that tunnel to the Crashplan service running on unRAID. Okay, I tried the above and am still having issues. I removed the Docker container and the config folder and reinstalled the image. I uninstalled on my Windows PC, rebooted, did a clean install and followed the guide you posted. When I connect with Putty it asks for a username/password. I am assuming it wants my UnRAID root account since if I put in my Crashplan credentials I get access denied. When I launch the app on my Windows machine it only lists my Windows machine. I do see an entry for '42' in the main GUI page, which I thought may be my UnRAID machine, but says no files were selected for backup, and I can't browse it. When I try and browse I only see my Windows PC. When I installed my docker for data I selected /mnt/user/Pictures as this is all I want to backup. Any idea on what I am missing still? Thanks
  13. Thanks for the suggestion. I will give this a try.
  14. I am trying to setup Crashplan, but apparently have no idea what I am actually doing. I have created an account on a Windows machine and logged in successfully. I then installed the Docker container from gfjardim through the Enhanced Docker plugin. I edited the ui.properties to reflect my actual IP, and I can't connect on 4242 or 4243. I tried copy my .identity file from the Windows machine to my Docker config container, and still nothing. port 4243 can't be found. port 4242 shows: €cA-18782|com.code42.messaging.security.SecurityProviderReadyMessage¶¢"ÐyØ»-±ÚеUœæå|$ÇñìƴĸџÁ Is there supposed to be something after the http://servername:4242/ to access the GUI? I also tried editing my.service.xml to replace the 0.0.0.0 with my IP, but not sure if I needed to do this. Any suggestions on getting this started would be greatly appreciated.
  15. When you boot UnRAID you get a menu prompt to either boot UnRAID to run MEMtest. You should just have to reboot (with a monitor attached) to see the option and be able to select it.
  16. It should be an option when you boot up the unraid server. Check the syslinux.cfg in your flash drive to see it is an option before rebooting. I see a line in the file that says Safe Mode (No Plugins). Don't know how to set this option though. If you have a monitor hooked up to your UnRAID server you can scroll down the boot menu to this option. Otherwise if you are only able to run remotely you can edit syslinux.cfg and move the value "menu default" to the safe option and reboot. Once done, you can move "menu default" back where you want it.
  17. I have not included his compiled module. It fixes the issue with unRAID 6.X. I have not had time to investigate the GPL requirements of distributing his compiled program, and I suspect it also requires distributing his source code which was based on "dd". Joe L. Thanks for clarifying.
  18. Hey JoeL I saw you updated the preclear.sh script to version 1.15. Does it include BJP's faster post-processing method, or the traditional method?
