Hi Keywall, thanks for the reply I'm not replacing my I5-12500 (wich runs everything like netwerk dockers and media) server with 1 device but actually im replacing it with 2 devices. I want the 8 port server/router running Pihole, Twingate, Unifi and Home Assistant wich is stuff that need to be always on and another server with a more power eficient cpu running my media dockers such as plex, radarr and sonarr on unraid. My private stuff like photos and videos is on a 2 bay double 2TB SSD (raid0) NAS wich only draws 4wats and gets backed up to the unraid server. I was just hoping that i could use the 8 port server/router to replace my 8 port 2,5Gbe switch as that device also uses 7 watts and my guess is that the 8 port server/router will only use 10 watts. i can only make the switch if i can utilize all the network ports of the device.

Hi all, I'm getting a new mobo soon for one of my unraid servers wich runs most of my networking stuff (Pihole, Twingate, Unifi and Home Assistant). My mediaserver is another machine wich facilitates dockers such as Plexx and the rr suite. The new mobo im getting for my networking unraid server has 8x 2,5Gbe intel nics on it and i was wondering if i could just install unraid with the previously mentioned "network" dockers on it and use the unused 7x 2,5Gbe nics as common network ports. If so i could replace my 8 port switch next to my fiber modem/router and use only 1 device as unraid server and network switch. I'm not planning to use PFsense on the networking Unraid server or anything as a router/firewall, my Fritzbox modem/router/firewall does a great job at that. This is all with some power saving in mind, at the moment my current switch uses about 10w and my network unraid server about 25w. If i can consolidate the 2 devices in 1 it would use about 10-13w (Intel N6005). Any help would be appreciated. Kind regards, Marty

I did but that didnt work either. I decided to make the USB drive non UEFI and now Windows 11 was installed, weird.... Only problem now is that i need network to finish the installation.

Hi all, I am trying to install a Windows 11 VM on my new unraid server, it has an i5 12500, ASRock Z790 Pro RS/D4, ATX, S1700 and 32Gb DDR4 ram. There is a dedicated 1tb nvme drive for the windows vm and the drive gets detected after the virtio drivers are loaded. The ISO file is in the protected isos share, i have redownloaded this file 3-4 times. When creating the VM nothing weird happens but when the windows installation begins, after 10% i get an error about necessary files cant be installed and the installation is halted. I have tried i440 and Q35 bios and different versions, also tried SATA, IDE and SCSI. I tried different locations for the vdisk. I tried a windows10 iso. None of the above works. HVM and IOMMU is enabled, i do boot in UEFI mode. Any idea what the problem could be? Rgds, Martijn settings.pdf

Hey all, I recently tried to upgrade my server from a AMD 1700 to an 3900 so i switched the CPU and mobo. Due to high powerusage i switched back to my 1700 CPU. When Unraid was booted on the new hardware Nextcloud stopped working but now i'm back on the old hardware Nextcloud still isn't working. The Docker does start but my devices cant connect and when i go the the webui i get the following error displayed in my browser. Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator if this error reappears multiple times, please include the technical details below in your report. More details can be found in the server log. Hi there, I just upgraded my CPU and mobo from a AMD 1700 and X470 to an AMD 3900 and X570. The install went as expected and the server booted up as expected. For some reason my Nextcloud isn't working anymore, the docker runs but when i connect to the UI i get the following msge: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Cheers again for the reply ! I wouldn't stick a beefy GPU in any other slot then the top one, just be sure. As i not 100% convinced I can use 2 GPU's and 1 NIC that require 3 full length slots so I decided to return the TUF mobo and ordered a Asus Strix X570 gaming wich does have 3 full length slots. Rgds

Thanks for the reply. What do u mean by checking if the new Asus X570 TUF mobo supports any PCI-E slot to boot with? I dont mind (if a 1st GPU is needed to pass a 2nd GPU through to a VM) if its slot 1, 2 or 3 because all slots have enough clearance. It's just that i never use the Unraid GUI so therefore (and also to save power) i have no need for a first "unraid cheap GPU" and i just want to run a powerfull GPU to pass through to a VM. Thing is i cant test it atm because i have no 2nd (powerfull) GPU available atm so i want to be sure if my new mobo (with only 2 PCI-E lanes) will be enough. Rgds, Marty

Hi there, Does anybody know if it's possible to pass through a Nvidia GPU if there is only one GPU in an Unraid server? I'm using unraid for several months now and im loving it so far, i haven't tried GPU passthrough yet but i remember reading somewhere if you have a server with a CPU without a integrated GPU you have to have a GPU for unraid and you can only pass through a 2ng GPU to a VM. There is 1 GPU (Nvidia GT710) in my current server, its still in there only because i used it while installing unraid so i never use it. At the moment there is a AMD 1700 in my server but i already have new hardware like an AMD 3900X and an Asus TUF X570 mobo. My current mobo is a gigabyte x470 aorus ultra gaming wich had 3 full length PCI-E slots, enough to accommodate my Intel 10Bg nic and 2 GPU's. My new mobo, the Asus TUF X570 only has 2 full length full PCI-E slots, i can still send it back to the store. So this is the reason for my question, if you need a GPU for Unraid and a 2nd GPU to pass through to a VM my new mobo can't accommodate that. The reason for the passthrough is because i want to start using the VM as my main (gaming) pc in the livingroom so i can ditch my current gaming pc wich is physically in my licing room. The Unraid server is behind the wall in the closet where my gaming pc is so its much better if i have the main PC as a VM in the Unraid server. Im planning to use an 1080Ti (or ill buy a 2080Ti) as passthrough GPU for this VM. Side note, i have triend my new 3900X in the older X470 mobo (with latest F50 bios) but the PC didn't boot. I should work, maybe i was to fast and didnt give the system time to reboot a few times. If it should work in the older X470 board, should i just stick the 3900X in that board and dont bother at all buying a X570 board? I dont have any stuff that can take advantage of the PCI-E 4 speeds, mabe an NVME SSD in the future? Any thoughts are welcome and thanks. Rgds, Marty

Is it possible to move from binhex-sabnzbd to binhex-sabnzbdvpn without having to manually put all my settings back in? Cheers ! Marty *edit* I found the post on page 2 in this threat and i deleted my non vpn container and installed the vpn container and pointed the /config path to the location where the non vpn config is. The new container with vpn doesn't start and i don't get an error messege. Am i doing something wrong?
