  1. Hi Keywall, thanks for the reply I'm not replacing my I5-12500 (wich runs everything like netwerk dockers and media) server with 1 device but actually im replacing it with 2 devices. I want the 8 port server/router running Pihole, Twingate, Unifi and Home Assistant wich is stuff that need to be always on and another server with a more power eficient cpu running my media dockers such as plex, radarr and sonarr on unraid. My private stuff like photos and videos is on a 2 bay double 2TB SSD (raid0) NAS wich only draws 4wats and gets backed up to the unraid server. I was just hoping that i could use the 8 port server/router to replace my 8 port 2,5Gbe switch as that device also uses 7 watts and my guess is that the 8 port server/router will only use 10 watts. i can only make the switch if i can utilize all the network ports of the device.

  3. Hi all, I'm getting a new mobo soon for one of my unraid servers wich runs most of my networking stuff (Pihole, Twingate, Unifi and Home Assistant). My mediaserver is another machine wich facilitates dockers such as Plexx and the rr suite. The new mobo im getting for my networking unraid server has 8x 2,5Gbe intel nics on it and i was wondering if i could just install unraid with the previously mentioned "network" dockers on it and use the unused 7x 2,5Gbe nics as common network ports. If so i could replace my 8 port switch next to my fiber modem/router and use only 1 device as unraid server and network switch. I'm not planning to use PFsense on the networking Unraid server or anything as a router/firewall, my Fritzbox modem/router/firewall does a great job at that. This is all with some power saving in mind, at the moment my current switch uses about 10w and my network unraid server about 25w. If i can consolidate the 2 devices in 1 it would use about 10-13w (Intel N6005). Any help would be appreciated. Kind regards, Marty
  4. Could do but i dont think it will make that much of a difference
  5. I did but that didnt work either. I decided to make the USB drive non UEFI and now Windows 11 was installed, weird.... Only problem now is that i need network to finish the installation.
  6. Hi all, I am trying to install a Windows 11 VM on my new unraid server, it has an i5 12500, ASRock Z790 Pro RS/D4, ATX, S1700 and 32Gb DDR4 ram. There is a dedicated 1tb nvme drive for the windows vm and the drive gets detected after the virtio drivers are loaded. The ISO file is in the protected isos share, i have redownloaded this file 3-4 times. When creating the VM nothing weird happens but when the windows installation begins, after 10% i get an error about necessary files cant be installed and the installation is halted. I have tried i440 and Q35 bios and different versions, also tried SATA, IDE and SCSI. I tried different locations for the vdisk. I tried a windows10 iso. None of the above works. HVM and IOMMU is enabled, i do boot in UEFI mode. Any idea what the problem could be? Rgds, Martijn settings.pdf
  7. Hey, no the backup was fine only it dated from last June. Don't know why though
  8. Hi everybody, A few days ago i got a warning in Unraid telling me that my boot usb key was inaccesible, i did nothing with the warning at that time. Today i restarted the server and it wouldnt boot, a logical thing after the warning. I decided to take the backup of my flash drive from the My Servers section and created a new USB boot drive, this went fairly easy so i hope my server is up and running again soon. Only thing is, when i look at the contense of the old boot drive it looks all very strange. I looks like the drive is overwritten with all sorts of weird data, see attached file. Can anybody tell me that when a USB drive fails, what happened to me is normal because it looks like somebody (Hacker) of something (Unraid) has overwritten the files. Do i need to be worried or is this just a case of a drive failing? Thanks in advance. Regards, Martijn
  9. Hey all, I recently moved into a new house and wanted to test the ambient temp of my new server location in the new house. The spot where i put the unriad server is very small and non ventilated so i placed a bluetooth thermometer inside to monitor temps. After a few hours furmark on my gaming vm the ambient temp hit 39 celcius so i aborted and decided to place ventialtion there. The next day i saw the one of the 6 8TB disks was disabeled and that my array was no longer protected. What should i do now, i restarted several times but the disk doesn't come online again. Fic Common Problems state that i should start investigate in Unraid/Main and there is stated Device is disabeled, contense emulated. I disabeled the array and started a smart test 2 hours ago but it hangs on 10%. My disks arnt that old (1-3 yesrs) so i dont know if it failed though high temp during test or just wear and tear. Whats the best couse of action i can take right now? Cheers ! Marty
  10. Hey All, I have an Unraid server with 6x 8TB disks (one is parity) wich gives me 40TB of usable space. My 18TB of data is spread out over 5 disks but should fit easily on 3 disks. I need 2 other disks from this array for another project so my question is can i shrink the total volume and remove the 2 unneeded disks? I'm already reallocating my data from disk 4 and 5 with Krusader to disk 1, 2 and 3 so disk 4 and 5 will be empty to remove. Only thing is i have no clue how to do the "removing" part. Thanks in advance! Rgds, Marty
  11. Thanks for the quick reply. If my approach isnt weird ill just try to see if it fit my needs. Cheers !
  12. Hi, Whats the best practise to backup other files than appdata from the cachedisk to the array? At the moment im using CA Backup to backup the appdatafolder from my cache SSD to the array in case of failure of the cachedisk. I want other files to be on the cachedisk only, like "my documents" of all of our PC's and our nextcloud folders for quick acces and so there is no need for the array to spin up. If these files are only on the cachedisk, if it fails they will be lost. I thought of creating extra folders in the appdata folders so the fils will automaticly be backed up with the CA Backup but it feels like that isnt best practise. Any help would be appreciated. Rgds, Marty
  13. Hey all, I recently wanted to upgrade my Unraid Server to an AMD 3900X and X570 motherboard. After replacing my AMD Ryzen 1700 and X470 motherboard for the new hardware i noticed the powerusage was much higher and Nextcloud wasnt working anymore. I decided to return the new hardware and stick with my older 1700 and X470, after all the server had been running great for over a year and the hardware is only a year old. Now that my older hardware is back in the server i have a couple of issues; - All the new files written to the cachedrive remain there, the mover doesnt move them to the array. - When i want to create a new folder from a windows 10 file explorer i get an unexpected error 0x8000FFFF. - Nextcloud still isnt working, the container starts but from inside my house or outside i cant reach the server, when i load the webgui i get the following error on the webgui page: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator if this error reappears multiple times, please include the technical details below in your report. More details can be found in the server log. When i look at the logs i see 2 errors : Dec 14 09:50:06 Unraid nginx: 2019/12/14 09:50:06 [error] 7925#7925: *3037 FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown" while reading response header from upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server: , request: "GET /admin/api.php?version HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "127.0.0.1" Dec 14 09:50:06 Unraid nginx: 2019/12/14 09:50:06 [error] 7925#7925: *3039 FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown" while reading response header from upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server: , request: "GET /admin/api.php?version HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "localhost" -I have the idea to redo my cachedisk, clear it out and add it fresh but also through Krusader when i want to copy all the data to the array i get a weird IO error when i try to move files from the cache to a backup folder on the array. All of this seems like there is something wrong with the read/write permissions on all of my drives or something. Im on the verge of starting all over and reinstall the server from scratch but that is going to be a lot of work. I have attached the servers diagnostics in a zip file. Anyone some advice? Thanks in advance. Rgds, Marty unraid-diagnostics-20191225-1502.zip
  14. Hey all, I recently tried to upgrade my server from a AMD 1700 to an 3900 so i switched the CPU and mobo. Due to high powerusage i switched back to my 1700 CPU. When Unraid was booted on the new hardware Nextcloud stopped working but now i'm back on the old hardware Nextcloud still isn't working. The Docker does start but my devices cant connect and when i go the the webui i get the following error displayed in my browser. Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator if this error reappears multiple times, please include the technical details below in your report. More details can be found in the server log. When i go to the log in Unraid i get the following two errors: Dec 22 10:31:19 Unraid nginx: 2019/12/22 10:31:19 [error] 9180#9180: *905614 FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown" while reading response header from upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server: , request: "GET /admin/api.php?version HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "127.0.0.1" Dec 22 10:31:19 Unraid nginx: 2019/12/22 10:31:19 [error] 9180#9180: *905616 FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown" while reading response header from upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server: , request: "GET /admin/api.php?version HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "localhost" Does anybody know what i need to do to get Nextcloud working again? If i need to provide more information ill be glad to. Regards, Marty
  15. Hi All, I just upgraded the CPU and Mobo in my Unraiud Server. I went from AMD Ryzen 1700 and X470 to Syzen 3900X and X570. Migration went smooth only my windows 10 VM won't start anymore. When I try to start is I get the following error; internal error: child reported (status=125): unable to open /mnt/disks/Force_MP510_1936823800012888041C/Win10 NVME/vdisk1.img: Read-only file system I can see that the problem is that the image is read only but i have no idea how to make it writable again. This NVME drive is an unasigned drive wich i only use for my VM's, i don't understand after swapping motherbord and cpu the drive cant be written to anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  16. Hi there, I just upgraded my CPU and mobo from a AMD 1700 and X470 to an AMD 3900 and X570. The install went as expected and the server booted up as expected. For some reason my Nextcloud isn't working anymore, the docker runs but when i connect to the UI i get the following msge: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator if this error reappears multiple times, please include the technical details below in your report. More details can be found in the server log. In the logs of the Unraid server i see 2 errors. Rgds, Marty
  17. Doesn't that command do exactly the same as pressing the button in the GUI?
  18. I'm not, i mapped all the physical disks to the docker
  19. Hi, im trying Krusader atm and it seems to work. I can manually move files from the share folder in the cache drive to the same folder in the array so i think this wil work. Will report back.
  20. Hey, thanks ! The files shouldnt be in use as they are old converted VHS tapes wich i just copied to another share wich shouldnt make use of the cache. Will try to move though the option BRiT sugested. Cheers!
  21. Cheers again for the reply ! I wouldn't stick a beefy GPU in any other slot then the top one, just be sure. As i not 100% convinced I can use 2 GPU's and 1 NIC that require 3 full length slots so I decided to return the TUF mobo and ordered a Asus Strix X570 gaming wich does have 3 full length slots. Rgds
