  1. sorry for the delay in responding, this worked well, thanks
  2. thanks, should i set it similar to the router router: 192.168.0.1 server: 192.168.0.77 ?? currently server is set to 192.168.2.77
  3. hi all, can't reach my servers but i'm pretty sure its something i did had a shaw router in passthrough mode to a linksys router with address 192.168.2.1. had two unraid servers on same network with ip's 192.168.2.66 and 192.168.2.55 today, the linksys got fried, and i upgraded to a new shaw modem. now i have a shaw model with address 192.168.0.1, but servers still have old addresses above. i cannot reach them! pinging them through windows just results in request timed out. can anyone offer advice?
  4. i had this problem as well... i was in another thread that suggested adding a cron job which restarts all dockers once a day. i've been running about 3 months with no more unusable periods.
  5. thanks all, i should have been a bit more clear. i was wondering if unraid would effectively zero it before adding to the array, thereby taking the array out of commission for several hours...i'd prefer to have it not in the array so that array is usable while the preclear is happening. You have answered that since i know the drive to be good, i did skip the pre read, and may also skip the post read. thanks for the feedback
  6. hi all, i recently upgraded by former 6tg parity drive to an 8tb drive. the former parity drive is still in the server does it need to be precleared before adding as a data drive?
  7. hi all, this is a result of preclear from a new 8tb seagate archive drive... everything look ok? wasn't sure about high fly writes, or Hardware ECC recovered? 8. so rebuilt parity just fine, excluding disk. Added disk back to array since it appeared like it was 100% fine everything has been fine for the past week, but just now i got an email indicating this disk now has pending sector count of 3. not sure what to do... i could just junk it, but this drama seems to demonstrate that pending sectors on this disk seem to drift up between zero and 5, but not more.... perhaps i leave it in and keep an eye on it? its also a few years old so i'm not too worried about junking it... i guess the best answer is that i'm not really going to trust it, so perhaps it should be out of the array
  9. yes thanks for this! now i just have to shutdown, and peek at which slots the drives are in.. .but will prevent a lot of future trial and error when replacing drives
  10. sorry for the sensational title, however i can't explain this? earlier in the week, got a few warning emails, that i had a pending sector count of 1, then 3, then 5. here's the email i got: Event: unRAID device sdc SMART health [197] Subject: Warning [CHIMERA] - current pending sector is 5 Description: WDC_WD20EARS-00MVWB0_WD-WMAZA0823880 (sdc) Importance: warning later in the week got this: Event: unRAID device sdc SMART message [197] Subject: Notice [CHIMERA] - current pending sector returned to normal value Description: WDC_WD20EARS-00MVWB0_WD-WMAZA0823880 (sdc) Importance: normal i assumed the pending were reallocated so i copied everything off the disk, then ran a pre clear which came up totally normal! and the preclear doesn't show any sectors reallocated? Am i missing something? was unraid mistaken, or are the smart reports coming from the disk screwed up (ie report pending, and then not) preclear finish report attached i'm quite tempted to put the drive back in the array as it looks normal.... preclear_finish_WD-WMAZA0823880_2016-02-13.zip
  11. rebooted once and had same problem. then shut down, opened server and checked a few connections. nothing appeared loose but i pushed everything in. also physically disconnected power for a few seconds. rebooted, fortunately all drives appeared!
  12. tried this a few diff ways, with a couple different slot. now have a new scary problem! gave up and removed the ssd. now when i booted, it appears a bunch of drives are missing! help! very weird my server has 3 controller cards, could one have become dislodged?
  13. hi all, i am trying to add a cache drive to my server. i purchased a 120gb sandisk ssd. powered down, installed, booted up. but system hangs each time. if i remove drive, system boots normal any thoughts? here's a pic of the server screen when it hangs
  14. https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Replace_A_Cache_Drive saw the above, but wasn't sure if this would stay the same under unraid 6, including having running dockers on the cache drive
  15. hi all, i want to buy a larger cache drive... on my current cache, i have my docker.img, as well as 3 dockers running. also have mover enabled. everything running good, almost hate to play with it! any advice on how to replace? could i copy the cache contents to my pc, then reboot server with new cache installed? or do i need to setup all the docker apps from scratch?
  16. Yes but now that I'm rebuilding parity without that disk won't it be okay?
  17. uh oh, i had begun a copy of the whole drive to other drives in the array, and then left for work. when i got home it was 99% complete, then finished. I set it to copy before i saw all the recommendations, oops! fortunately i think everything came off okay. i have now removed the drive from the array, and am rebuilidng parity. once parity complete i will run a preclear on the drive, and just see what comes of it. the drive jumped from pending sector, to 3, then to 5, all within about an hour. it appears to have stabilized... but we'll see the results of the preclear. drive is quite old, and out of warranty by 3 years.
  18. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=45286.0 the above fixed an unresponsive server for me. i was locking up every couple of days, now i've been up for over 3 weeks with no prob
  19. yes will do since i don't have a precleared disk ready to go, i am currently copying files off the disk, onto other disks within the array. I suppose that's okay? even if the disk totally fails, i could still rebuild once i have a precleared disk ready?
  20. ok oops, download did nothing, i think because the smart report failed. I am in the process of moving the data off this drive and onto other drives. unfortunately got cuaght without a spare, because i recently lauched a second server and wanted to start using my previous spare, for warranty reasons overnight, got two more messages, that pending had grown to 3, then to 5, then offline uncorrectable at 2. smart report attached if interested chimera-smart-20160209-0432.zip
  21. hi can someone tell me where the smart reports are kept? i ran the extended, but don't know where to see the outcome. there is a button called download, which i clicked but don't know where this saves to!
  22. just my first unraid 6 email warning, saying the above in the subject line. I can post a smart report later tonight, but assuming the pending sector count is only '1', would the community recommend any steps be taken? or just continue to monitor?
  23. exact same situation and UPS on dashboard i get battery charge 100% runtime left 74 minutes (seems too high) nominal power - UPS load - UPS Load % 9.0 percent
  24. thanks very much for the suggestions... good to know there's other things to try, if my current 'fix' stops working. i do not have a large cache drive, therefore i don't think i could afford to have it run only once per week....and plex is my only source for tv also, so i guess having sab run only once per day means you are at least another day delayed in watching shows, which is not the end of the world! Exactly! We found at my house that we normally didn't watch shows until the next day anyhow so my wife never even noticed I changed the download times to have it queue up the stuff during the day and evening hours, but not pull it until the middle of the night. We watch most things next day or over the weekend. She just knows that the server doesn't lockup anymore to where she has to yell at me to reboot it.... Again... Happy wife, happy life.... great server (and wife) management skills!
