Keint
Hello ! I have Unraid server with 10 HDD 8 TB I bought few SSD 8TB to replace theme but .... When I follow the replacing process, when I have to select my SSD to replace sur HDD Unraid told me that it s impossible because the size must be bigger than the previous HDD ... Is there any solution ? The HDD are not full at all Thanks !! Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Partition for SSDs start on sector 2048 vs sector 64 for disks, so if you use an SSD to replace a disk of the same capacity the partition will be a little smaller and there won't be enough space. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can still do it but would have to do it manually, i.e., do a new config with the SSDs then copy the data from the disk(s) using for example UD to mount. Quote Link to comment
Keint
Thanks for your fast answer ! you mean I add the SDD to the array copy the HDD content to the SDD then remove the HDD ? Quote Link to comment

I think JorgeB suggested to first do a New Config, with preserve All. in Main replace the HDD by the SSD, rebuild parity. Then copy from the HDD mounted with Unassigned Devices to the new Array. But your idea works too. You will have to rebuild parity at some point anyway. Quote Link to comment
Keint
Thanks ChatNoir ! If I understood well: - I stop the Array, I add the to array the new SSD Now I have all the hard drive + new SSD ( In MAIN, I can't replace the HDD by the SSD because is smaller and Unraid don t allow me to do it ) It say ''WRONG" ( like on my picture above ) So I ll copy the file with unBALANCE then remove the HDD Thanks you ! ChatNoir
@Keint, you will have to do a New Config and resync parity without your HDD. Quote Link to comment
