Hello,

There is any way to send a file using taildrop from Unraid UI?

At this moment I am sending files like this

tailscale file cp /mnt/user/downloads/games/game.iso tailscale-host:

This isn't something that I intend to implement within the plugin.

There's not really a way for injecting options like that into the file browser. It's also a very niche use case, which is probably served better by other tools.

What you're seeing is correct. The "Tailscale WebGUI" that you've seen in videos was removed from the plugin.

Ok. Thanks.

Did you mean that you don't see any Tailscale UI at all, that you don't see a Tailscale icon in Settings or just that the first Tailscale tab (where you log in) looks different from the old one?

With default theme the Tailscale icon in Settings looks like this in the second row, Network Services

image.png.eeeb934c177e57d5d810470d69853fce.png

Clicking it brings up a tabbed Tailscale UI with the first tab selected.

The old WebUI showed a white rectangle in the middle of the display on the first tab that didn't match the rest of the Unraid UI. The current UI now matches the rest of the Unraid UI.

The current UI looks like this along the top:

image.png.16dc6278351272485d157d269420d708.png

If you haven't enabled Tailscale (on the second tab - it would make more sense on the first) and haven't logged in (first tab), then the tab will be empty except for a message telling you to enable and possibly log in.

There's one aspect of this UI that is incorrect - it's always a tabbed interface, even when Unraid's page view (in Display Settings) isn't set to Tabbed. I just found this today as I normally only use a tabbed UI so would have never otherwise noticed.

Hello, i have a issue with tailscale, on every bootup, it locks the ports 80 and 443 so the unraid nginx service cannot start. i manually have to ssh or tty into the unraid machine, type in `lsof -i tcp:80` to get the pid of the tailscaled process, then `kill <pid>` on the tailscale pid, and then `/etc/rc.d/rc.nginx start` (ref: forums.unraid.net/topic/86114-nginx-running-out-of-shared-memory/#findComment-816076) to get the UNRAID interface back up. I cannot (re)start the tailscale plugin from `https://nas.local/Settings/Tailscale` after that

Would be better if the dynamix file browser would detect presence of the tailscale plugin or container and show a taildrop button next to "copy","move",etc

Did you turn on Tailscale serve via the CLI at some point?

Yes, exactly. This is what I was implying when I originally mentioned it.

KNOCK ON WOOD - Everything's working smoothly now with all my machines, including all Unraid servers and external VPS, on my Tailnet. iOS mobile and Macbook both working as expected connecting to anything on my home LAN, including SMB when outside the network.

Fingers crossed, I leave for UK and Europe tomorrow with iPhone and Macbook. If anything goes wrong here at home, I'm still the one expected to fix it remotely while I'm away, including all manner of smart home devices via Home Assistant. :)

Hi,

I've run into a problem on Unraid Version 7.1.0

Tailscale installs fine and I can also connect to the tailnet, however I cannot activate the unraid server as an exit node. If I click on "enable" nothing happens. I have played around with all other settings, nothing makes a difference. I have also tried both the standard Tailscale plugin and the preview version with the same results.

I Have the same issue

Visit the server via TailscaleIP:5252 and enable the exit node there. That should work. Otherwise cli should work too

I was unable to connect on port 5252, however there has been an update on the preview branch and everything now works as expected. Thanks!

I had the same issue, since the reauthenticate button was moved to Settings/Tailscale/Settings/Advanced View.

Open your tailscale Plugin, navigate to settings and check the advanced view button:

Navigate to the Tailscale tab and Login in.

tailscale.login.png.b99e58b0e0c701d07dbe7973f4025ba6.png

You will be navigated to the tailscale login prompt and need your credentials. Dont forget to refresh the Unraid Tailscale window, in order to update the displayed data.

Cheers!

I am having the same issue.  I have followed all the steps.
On the unraid dashboard, it is showing "online : Yes"
On the tailscale website it is showing my unraid server as "Connected"
but on the tailscale settings page is it still no showing the connection page that everyone else is seeing.
and in my plex docker, it is showing "use tailscale: Option disabled as network type is not bridge or custom"
I have changed settings to enable EXIT MODE.
I have reauthenticated.
I have erased tailscale configuration and relogged in when prompted, but still it is returning to the tailscale screen that is not showing me logged in.
I am on google fiber if that has anything to do with this issue, but I am suspecting that the issue is entirely a setting on the server itself.
I truly have tried reading through all the pages of this support thread before posting.  I simply do not know what I am missing.  If anyone has any advise for me, it would be truly appreciated.tailscale.thumb.png.be81e9f6b199f3e0c943d56224433945.pngtailscale2.thumb.png.98693d02dbd8cba102e907da8a89cd2e.png

Is the Tailscale plugin only compatible with Unraid 7.x? I'm trying to install it to my Unraid 6.12.15 but it says the plugin is incompatible. First I couldn't find it in Community Apps but when I changed the setting to not hide incompatible applications, I was able to find the plugin but it says "incompatible". Or is there a way for me to install the plugin so that I can access my server remotely?

The current version of the plugin is maintained for 7.0-7.1 (I maintain for the current and previous minor release). I can get a link in a little bit for the  last 6.12 version.

That would be lovely! Thank you in advance.

I have now setup Tailscale on Unraid 6.12.15 and I'm able to access the web GUI remotely, but not with HTTPS.

I have enabled HTTPS in Tailscale's settings and requested a cert via the Unraid CLI. I have tailscale1 added as a listening interface in Unraid Network Settings. In Tailscale admin / Machine Details, the TLS certificate shows as "Valid until 3 months from now".

When I try to connect over HTTPS, I get the error "This site can’t be reached. machine.name-name.ts.net refused to connect."

What could be the issue?

The best advice I can possibly give:

Use a reverse proxy or don't bother using domain names and certificates at all on your servers.

Once the above is in place, turn off the HTTPS option in Tailscale.

Sorry, could you be a bit more specific as to why this would be the way to go? Also if you have any resources in mind for learning more / how to do it, thanks in advance!

This is the first time I’m reading that a reverse proxy would be needed. I just wanted to access the web GUI of my server remotely and securely and thought Tailscale with HTTPS would be sufficient.

It's rare that someone want to access only the Unraid WebUI, and when there's a need to access even just one more app/resource/page/site/app, along with maintaining an updated certificate (or multiple), it's just easier to maintain this on a purpose-built platform. Especially one that isn't in a state of flux or active change with said features still advertised as in beta.

So that said, something like Nginx Proxy Manager offers a really simple UI for both maintaining one or more certificates as well as any number of hosts. You can also use any other reverse proxy, such as Caddy, Traefik, HAProxy, etc. NPM, IMO, is just a lot more straight forward for anyone not intending to roll up their sleeves and do this on the daily as part of their job.

With respect to ONLY the Unraid WebUI, I use NPM only to manage the certificates - I don't use it to do HTTPS proxy. I made a script that copies the certificates from NPM to each of my Unraid servers on an ongoing basis. There's no custom configuration or settings to be applied in Tailscale for this to work. If you really wanted only Unraid WebUI and nothing else, you could use Certbot to do the certificates from Unraid in the same way (it's what NPM uses) and not use a reverse proxy or any custom settings in Tailscale at all.

For more information on how I have NPM deployed, I have a small tutorial here:

I've deployed it using LXC, running in Debian along side a Tailscale installation. I then also use Tailscale Unraid Plugin on all my Unraid servers. I don't use Tailscale Docker integration.

There have been some hiccups over the past 10 months here and there, but everything has no been running solidly for some time, with access working well from mobile and captive-portal connections on multiple continents.

Additionally, here are the scripts I use to maintain (copy) the certificates to each Unraid server:

I plan to set up a separate VPN through which I can access my resources remotely. I would like to have Tailscale as a backup option, only for connecting to the Unraid WebUI in the case that the VPN is not working and I need to troubleshoot or fix issues on the server for my family while I'm away.

Thank you for the detailed instructions! My primary goal is still to get the HTTPS Tailscale connection working if possible. I mean, it should work, right?

Maybe? ;) I use https for everything, but don't rely on any settings in Tailscale to make it happen. I figure it's doing more than enough, and since troubleshooting can be complicated, I leave that elsewhere that can easily be turned on/off and swapped out outside of Tailscale. Everything else in my stack seems to be in a more stable and long-term state, whereas Tailscale gets frequent updates.

I really can't afford to deal with any more downtime - not because I can't easily work around it for personal use, but my family seems to want to blame me for anything connectivity related, even if it's a downed power line or demolished trunk 250 km away.

Hi everyone. I tried to setup subnet routing for Tailscale. Try to follow guidance in Unraid Doc, however I could not see Viewing button. Probably the guide in doc is not updated with the latest plug-in or I’m missing something here?

Can somebody share how to set subnet routing? I’m using Tailscale plugin version 25.05.08 with unraid version 7.1.2.

Thanks.
