WRONG. I use TS on both iOS and Android. I have not experienced any such outages. I am on auto-update. Always.
Can we please stop talking about this now?

The bottom line is that no matter how good the plugin is, the underlying project is just not stable and literally any update for any platform can bring the whole thing down.

I wouldn’t put the effort I do into the plugin if I thought the backend was unreliable. I can also void your guarantee right off the bat since I run Tailscale across a plethora of platforms, update regularly, and don’t have issues at all.

It’s fine to move on, but the thread needs to now as well.

Anyone have any issues using the tailscale plugin to enable Funnel for a specific container?
for some reason i can't get it to work, having tried a variety of different parameters in different places. I searched this thread, didn't see any others with this specific issue. Confirmed it's not account settings elsewhere, since if i set it to Serve and go to the console for the container itself, Funnel works via CLI

Can anyone share their configuration perhaps? I assume i must be missing something simple

to add to this, does anyone know if there's a way to use the tailscale plugin to just send a command via CLI?

asking since this would allow me to use this as a workaround since Funnel doesn't work via the plugin for a container, but works via the console for that container with Serve enabled

The plugin doesn’t interact with the “Use Tailscale” option in containers, they are two separate systems.

perhaps i didn't word my question well. If I'm using the "use tailscale" option in containers, and I want to use a CLI command to configure the tailscale rather than the gui, is this possible somehow?

asking since via the CLI, setting up the funnel was successful, but via the gui it was not

Within the past handful of days my funnel won't stay active. In the CLI I start it and 'status' says it's running then about 10 seconds later if I 'status' it again it says "No serve config". I've uninstalled and reinstalled but no change. In the plugin's log it says: "Tailscale funnel is enabled, but config does not allow it, resetting serve config". Nothing has changed that I know of otherwise. Thoughts? Thank you in advance!!!!

EDIT: Also my Node Attributes are the defaults, enabled funnels.

You should be able to open the container console and do whatever you need to, but this isn't the support thread for that functionality. If it involves "Use Tailscale", you should make a separate post for that. This thread is only for the plugin (Settings->Tailscale in the WebGUI).

Did you install the 7.2 beta? There's new logic/options around funnel that turns on in 7.2.

I haven't no. I'm on 7.1.4.

Ah, I see what's happening. The check that is supposed to start with 7.2 is already running, but you won't see the option that controls it until you update.

I'll send you a PM with a fix in the meantime (it's simple, but I don't want to post here so that folks don't try it blindly).

Excellent, thank you so much!

i see, so if this thread isn't for support for the tailscale implementation as it applies to containers, where would that be? i don't see a separate support thread for that, and installing the tailscale plugin is what enables that functionality if i'm not mistaken

The plugin and the "Use Tailscale" option are actually two completely separate things, the plugin doesn't provide any of the "Use Tailscale" functionality. (In fact, I generally recommend against using it for a variety of reasons related to how it operates.)

For support with it, just make a topic in the overarching "Tailscale" forum: https://forums.unraid.net/forum/111-tailscale/

thanks for the context.

can i ask why you recommend against using it? how exactly does it operate?

I already use the plugin for my whole system, but want to use funnel for just a specific container within that.

I'm running the latest plugin.

Recently, I have lost my internet connection twice. When the internet was restored, I also lost the Tailscale connection. Restarting Tailscale through the plugin GUI did not resolve the issue, so I had to reboot my Unraid system to restore the connection.

I'm using Headscale 0.26.1 as its controller on Unraid.

Is there a way to reconnect it without rebooting Unraid?

Thank you.

I'd like to request a PM with the fix, too. I'm also encountering the "Tailscale funnel is enabled, but config does not allow it, resetting serve config" while being on version 7.1.4. Thanks!

I'm testing out Unraid. Trying to set up Tailscale but best I can tell it isn't getting installed, just the settings pages. No authenticate button pops up when I bring up the Tailscale settings page. Log file is full of "/etc/rc.d/rc.tailscale: line 17: /usr/local/sbin/tailscaled: No such file or directory." running "tailscale up" in terminal results in command not found.

The directory in the error should be on the flash drive as far as I can tell. Is there anything in the plugin trying to write to or look for an array? This is a fresh install, can't imaging it'd be screwed up already. Only thing is I haven't set up an array because I didn't want to wipe my ZFS pool I'd set up when testing TrueNAS and the other ZFS pools I added testing Proxmox. So I have only pools set up. Unraid is happy with it, but is this plugin not?

You could try changing the Use SSL/TLS setting to yes located in the Unraid Settings/Management Access page. I would uninstall the tailscale plugin and then reinstall it and hopefully the authenticate button will show up.

Already tried turning on SSL as I found that suggestion elsewhere. No effect on this. Reinstalled the plugin again after, same issue.

It sounds like Tailscale isn't downloading correctly.

What do you get if you run this from a terminal?

wget https://pkgs.tailscale.com/stable/tailscale_1.86.2_amd64.tgz

I think perhaps there's something else going on with my Unraid install. Like plugins aren't being installed, period. I didn't realize this OS was so buggy. Moving to the 7.2 beta since what I have feels like beta anyway, and it's once again stuck unable to stop the array, despite installing the Dynamix Stop Shell plugin. Likely that didn't install correctly, either, and besides the "Community Applications" plugin, those are the only 2 plugins installed.

Generally, problems with plugin installation end up being related to your network settings.

What happens if you run the command I provided?

When I finally completed the upgrade to the 7.2 beta (had to force shutdown my computer due to the array refusing to stop, then redo the upgrade), tailscale now seems to work. Let me login, shows no more errors. Hopefully this inability to stop the array nonsense doesn't screw up my zfs pools.

Hello, may I have the fix too? The 7.2 is still in beta, the plugin shouldn't assume that everyone already has it.
