Power Supply Deals

Saw this on sale, thinking of getting new case and some more HDs. Right now have a 430w non modular. And only 1 Data, Parity and cache. What more could I get out of the 430w? Is it ok to go with this and not need all power of it yet?

Depends on the make and model of the PSU.

You should be able to run at least 12 green drives. I had 13 WD Green drives on mine before I upgraded to a Corsair 500CX.

I just bought the Corsair CX Series 600 Watt (available in 430, 500, 600, or 750 watts) for my desktop (non-unraid) and it works awesome. The modular design is so good for cable management, makes the whole case look nicer. Big upgrade for me.

Just remember ... the CX series is Corsair's "bargain basement low-end" power supply.  If it works for your system, it's okay ... but I've seen several systems that aren't stable with a CX that work fine with their TX and HX series.    I simply don't use the CX series units -- if I'm buying Corsair I only get HX or TX series units.

This seemed like a good deal to me based on prices of other PSUs and previous posts.

That is indeed a VERY good price for a modular HX series !!  Just ordered one as a spare PSU ... I'm sure I'll find a use for it "one of these days"  8)

They're really cheap for a reason.

True.  They DO work; but I've seen many systems that had issues with them, but work perfectly with any of the higher-end Corsair units or other good PSUs.    Cheapest is not what you want when you want a rock-solid reliable system.

Flex ATX - Silverstone SST-FX350-G
80-Plus Gold, 350W

$85.77 at time of posting.  Seems reasonable to me, bought it & happy with it so far.
It is smaller (less deep) than most 1U / Flex ATX PSUs out there.

This link has in-depth suggestions for PSU including quality ratings of specific variants/years and any comments of failures reported by people. I originally saw this on LTT forums and seems they have move it to their own website. Highly recommend you check this out when buying a PSU.
