This is the remaining thing for me - the plugin is working perfectly (and I've manually set the CPU and Case fans to run at lowest speed of 80% for now) but having a CPU temp as a monitor alongside HDD temps would be awesome.

I was waiting for this plugin for last 5 years! Thank you!

Thanks a lot โ€” Iโ€™m just happy to hear itโ€™s useful for someone! Appreciate the support.

@CkChong I've been testing the plugin, and honestly, you managed to make something that works so much better than the Dynamix System AutoFan plug. I would like to ask, if you would consider extending the support to OpenFanController? Right now users are using the OpenFanController docker to manage access to the device and it's API, and a seperate control docker called OpenFanService to regulate the fan speeds, the latter being a purely text based configuration. Your plugin could be extended to support it via it's API, rather than the scripts you run to set the PWM on the fans at the moment.

I'd happily sponsor the OpenFanController, so you can test and build up the support.

I can also help with the sponsor part if we could get support for OpenFanController. This plugin looks great, but I think also many people have home built custom systems from mini PCs that need an external fan controller for multi fan support. I use a Lenovo M720Q, and it only has one fan controlled by BIOS that I have no access to. So I need to use an external controller if I want more fans and any control of them.

It doesn't detect my PWM controller. Sensors-detect give me this info:

Driver `to-be-written':

* ISA bus, address 0xa30

Chip `ITE IT8613E Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)

Driver `coretemp':

* Chip `Intel digital thermal sensor' (confidence: 9)

I also found this page about this sensor and my motherboard:

https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-h4/application_note/fan_speed_control_with_temp

Should I follow those instructions to install the driver? Very newb with Linux, sorry if I'm asking for basic thing.

Looks like your boardโ€™s chip (ITE8613E) isnโ€™t supported by the kernel, so FanCtrl Plus wonโ€™t be able to detect or control the fans right now. You can try following that guide, but itโ€™s beyond the scope of what this plugin supports. Sorry I canโ€™t help more on this part!

You might want to reach out to your motherboard or system manufacturer to ask if thereโ€™s any Linux driver or module available for the ITE8613E chip.

can it be used with Dynamix Auto Fan Control ?

I wouldnโ€™t recommend running both plugins at the same time โ€” especially if theyโ€™re controlling the same PWM fan headers.

You can have both FanCtrl Plus and Dynamix Auto Fan Control installed, but you should only run one at a time to avoid conflicts.

To be safe, itโ€™s best to disable or uninstall the one youโ€™re not using, just to prevent any accidental settings or interference.

Do we need to set also Fan for CPU ?

cant we use CPU Fan by CPU Temperature?

Hello my friend, I'm back to say that it's working perfectly in my Supermicro 12-bay case, since the first version was released. Congratulations!

I have another contribution for your project: add the RPM to adjust the minimum speed in RPM by percentage. Add the RPM on the configuration screen, see example below

The next version will support CPU temperature, and itโ€™s expected to be released in a few days.

However, I recommend letting the BIOS handle the CPU fan for safety and reliability.

If you choose to control CPU fan using FanCtrl Plus, please make sure to test carefully and take responsibility for the configuration.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Right now, you can already see real-time RPM in the Dashboard (or syslog) โ€” just open it in another tab while adjusting your settings.

In the next version, the fan configuration will include a chart popup showing a temperature curve, and Iโ€™m planning to add real-time temperature and RPM display there too. Stay tuned!

do we have it from plugin :

or its becouse not rebooted after removed Dynamix System Autofan ?

if so can this to be added to plugin also maybe ?

So i can leave it like this (Disabled) to allow to BIOS to control it ?

The footer RPM comes from the System Temp plugin. It depends on which fan you selected in its Array Fan Speed โ€” not from FanCtrl Plus or Auto Fan.

You can leave it disabled, but if it was enabled before, the BIOS often wonโ€™t take back control of the CPU fan until you reboot. If you donโ€™t plan to control the CPU fan anymore, Iโ€™d suggest deleting it instead of just disabling โ€” to avoid accidental re-enabling. Just make sure to reboot after that.

OK got it, Thanks.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Yes, I understand that you can open another tab, but I want to avoid having everything on the same screen.

Also, since you saw the new update, 7.2.0, coming out, the screens will be responsive on mobile devices. It would be better to view and align them.

Here's the link to the plugin update.

Plugin authors, please see this post describing how to update your plugins to make them responsive.

Iโ€™m aware that Unraid 7.2.0 will bring a major UI overhaul. Because of that, Iโ€™ve decided to hold off on any new UI features until after the new design is finalized โ€” otherwise itโ€™s very likely things will break or look wrong.

Right now, Iโ€™m focusing on finalizing the current update features. If the plugin doesnโ€™t suit your needs in its current form, I understand โ€” FanCtrl Plus might not be the right fit for everyone.

Iโ€™m developing this plugin in my spare time as a beginner still learning along the way, so I have to prioritize stability and maintainability over adding every request.

@CkChong

What is recommended internal 1 min or 2 min or something else?

I deleted cpu fan for now.

So I have only case fans and lsi sas card fans...

For HDD monitoring, 2 minutes is totally fine โ€” mechanical drive temps donโ€™t change very quickly.

In the next version, when CPU temperature monitoring is supported, if your case fans are linked to CPU temps, you can set it to 1 minute instead.

Personally, I just experiment within the 1โ€“2 minute range to find what works best for my setup โ€” you can do the same for yours until it feels stable.

This plugin makes the Dynamix System AutoFan Plugin look like Windows 95.
Really looking forward to seeing the fan speed control feature based on CPU Temp.
