give me patch, or this file after edit and im recompile this ;)

This is the edited .po file for the live plugin, it works great. Maybe i´m going to put some time into translating everything in the future. Atleast now time and date format is right.

After downloading all channel icons from lyngsat i now have a perfect vdr setup.

UPDATE: ok im find error in this file and fix

package is ready in my dumpTrack folder

Hi Guys,

VDR working and is ready (but for now only in packages)

So we must put all packages of VDR to /boot/extra and will be installed after reboot

Second step is manual setup config and run (i can prepare some GUIDE or @Spylex maybe help with release second one on github)

Im game to try out the install with packages if someone can throw together a how to. Like I said Ive got the hdhomerun and Im ready to go.

I'm happy to help! I'm not entirely sure how to run it myself at this point :)

I want to try out VDR as well, had no luck with tvheadend as 760side has stated.

What page do we need to browse too? server:9981??? :xxxx

I believe we would need to install vdr manually through a package. Would it be a faux pas if I started a thread in the plugin design labeled "VDR plugin for unRAID v5.0"? so people would have a place to put together a how to and their findings?

Why would you think that vdr will work if your build hasn't the correct driver for your device?

Why would you think that vdr will work if your build hasn't the correct driver for your device?

Not sure who these internet muscles are directed at. If the comment is directed at me I dont expect my build to work even though I have my hdhomerun drivers installed for my build as my lsmod shows. Also my comment was to hopefully garner some feedback if it would be looked down upon if someone other than the developer of a plugin started a thread so if that topic is searched it returns with a topic that is associated with said plugin rather than a different plugin. If its at KidCastro he may be in the same boat I am or not but I think either way there is reason to be excited about VDR since as piotrasd said its been in the wild for 13 years in some way, shape or form.

I am in the same boat, unable to get this working with tvheadend.

From reading up on VDR, its mostly dutch. Ive gathered it is hard to setup, it would be made alot simpler with a gui/plugin.

The last milestone I achieved with tvheadend and you can try this too 760side.

Type in dmesg in a telnet session or on the local machine after logging in with root in both scenarios.

Scroll up and you will see HDHOMERUN, something along those lines... then I guess it auto discovers and then...

Access Fail

Access Fail

This was some information to assume that maybe its not finding the hdhomerun device on the network. This contradicts my openelec/xbmc setup with tvheadend finds my hdhomerun just fine.

While I'm not expecting miracles, it shouldnt be this hard to setup... unfortunetely Ive pulled out my hair over it and I'm hoping for a better experience with VDR whenever that is available.

sorry guys with HDHOMERUN i have 0% of expirence, i dont know this devices and dont use :(

only others users of this tuners can help you. for start working with tvheadend or VDR for sure unraid must see device

and load correct driver, only after that you can start thinking about start tvheadend or VDR

Not an expert, but for me, my Hdhomerun issues centered around userhdhomerun and when it loads, etc.  search this thread for userHdhomerun perhaps.  Maybe that's not the issue, but I thought I would mention it just in case.

I installed the plugin and I am very impressed! I use it in conjunction with XBMC Frodo (OpenElec).

The TVHeadEnd Version of the plugin is rather old and does not support time shift.

Are there any plans to update the plugin to use a recent version of tvheadend?

KidCastro and 720side, are you aware of this?

Hey Reginald, giving your rc12a build a go, my hdhomerun isn't working... As far as I can tell from your scripts, userhdhomerun isn't being packaged with the new bzroot. Are you sure it is?

EDIT: Compiled userhdhomerun, placed it on the flash and symlinked it to /usr/bin/ and everything's working again. Thanks :)

Try copying my userhdhomerun to your flash drive and add something like this to the go file (above the line that actually loads it of course):

ln -s /boot/custom/userhdhomerun /usr/bin/userhdhomerun

See post below for file.

Today, or sometime this week, RC13 and potentially a final v5 build will be out. We'll see what happens then!

HDHOMERUN TVHeadend Guide

For all future HDHomerun Users, please follow these steps to configure your network tuner with TVHeadend.

So after a couple of weeks I finally worked out how to do it, after reading way too many threads and listening to the advise in this thread.

What you will need:

Reginald's unRAID v5.0rc12a: which includes the hdhomerun linux driver and also the realtek nic driver which like me, you may not even need but doesnt cause any issue's. Important to note, this version is the latest at the time of writing and in future Reginald may keep releasing re-compiled kernals. http://goo.gl/ByxtR

piotrasd's TVHeadend Package repository: You can pick up the latest tvheadend file from here, thanks Piotrasd. https://app.dumptruck.goldenfrog.com/p/Vq3zpArAKB

Pinch userhdhomerun file: Attached to this post - the reason this is required is because there is an issue with Reginalds kernal where on loading unraid it doesnt copy the userhdhomerun file to /usr/bin/userhdhomerun making it impossible to load the driver.

My config file: Attached to this post -  this is needed to assign your adapter type whether its DVB-T etc - please edit this file with your adapter before using it.

Steps

HDHomerun Setup in Windows, important to note... set this to Main Application: Other DVD-T/DVD-C depending on your country. For Australia its DVD-T.

Once this is done, click Apply and then we can proceed.

1) Install Reginalds RC12a bzimage and bzroot files by replacing the ones on your /boot USB. Make sure you replace these.

2) Get piotrasd's tvheadend .txz and place the downloaded .txz in your /boot/extra directory, you can either restart your unraid build or to keep the current session open, just telnet to your unraid and use 'installpkg $FILE'. Tip: any .txz file in /boot/extra directory will get installed on every boot.

3) Create a 'DATADIR', for example '/mnt/cache/unraid/tvheadend' and give 'nobody' full permissions (chown -R nobody:users $DATADIR). so the full command is...

chown -R nobody:users /mnt/cache/unraid/tvheadend

4) Run the following command to create an admin user: echo "{ \"username\": \"admin\", \"password\": \"admin\" }" > $DATADIR/superuser. so the full command is...

echo "{ \"username\": \"admin\", \"password\": \"admin\" }" > /mnt/cache/unraid/tvheadend/superuser

5) Create a directory on your flash usb drive, so its /boot/custom within the custom directory place the userhdhomerun and dvbhdhomerun files.

6) Edit the dvbhdhomerun only using notepad++ or similiar application. Within the windows hdhomerun setup applications, you will find you tuner name under Tuners. It will look like this... 1110B572-0 / 1110B572-1.

You need to edit the dvbhdhomerun as below, my file is your template. Also choose your DVB-T etc

[1110BXXX-0]
tuner_type=DVB-T
[1110BXXX-1]
tuner_type=DVB-T

7) Once you have done above, you will need to edit your /boot/config/go file.

This is my full go file and exactly how it looks...

#!/bin/bash
# Start the Management Utility
/usr/local/sbin/emhttp &

cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c

ln -s /boot/custom/userhdhomerun /usr/bin/userhdhomerun
ln -s /boot/custom/dvbhdhomerun /etc/dvbhdhomerun
modprobe dvb_hdhomerun && sleep 10 && /usr/bin/userhdhomerun &

sleep 20 && sudo -u root tvheadend -c /mnt/cache/unraid/tvheadend -u root -g video -f 2>&1 >/dev/null

8) Restart your unraid build and everything should be working ok.

You should be able to go to http://$SERVERIP:9981 and login with admin/admin or whatever credentials you chose above.

If you want to make sure everything is loading on boot.

Telnet to your unraid and run lsmod command and it should show...

root@SERVER:~# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
dvb_hdhomerun           9198  4
dvb_core               66190  1 dvb_hdhomerun
dvb_hdhomerun_fe        4642  1 dvb_hdhomerun
dvb_hdhomerun_core      1720  2 dvb_hdhomerun,dvb_hdhomerun_fe

If you run dmesg, you should see this.

hdhomerun: userhdhomerun connected
hdhomerun: userhdhomerun connected
hdhomerun: creating dvb device for 1110BXXX-0
DVB: registering new adapter (HDHomeRun)
DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (HDHomeRun DVB-T)...
HDHomeRun0: DVB Frontend registered
HDHomeRun0: Registered DVB adapter0
hdhomerun: device /dev/hdhomerun_data0 created
hdhomerun: userhdhomerun connected
hdhomerun: creating dvb device for 1110BXXX-1
DVB: registering new adapter (HDHomeRun)
DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (HDHomeRun DVB-T)...
HDHomeRun1: DVB Frontend registered
HDHomeRun1: Registered DVB adapter1
hdhomerun: device /dev/hdhomerun_data1 created
hdhomerun: userhdhomerun connected

Please ask if your stuck or need any help.

Nice guide! :)

Thanks for the nice comments guys, hopefully 760side and other new potential new hdhomerun users can read my previous post and have it running alot faster than I did.

The last comment by TorchRedRob got my attention and got me thinking about the timing. When I went looking for userhdhomerun I couldnt find it...

Then Pinch advised me of the userhdhomerun not loading in /usr/bin/userhdhomerun which is an issue with the instructions on load that Reginald can fix so we dont need this file in the future.

Then the symlink command made sense, and boom the hdhomerun is recognised but as a ATSC tuner. This wont work for me so I researched a few threads and found that in xbmc, config file is needed to assign the tuner name and type. so I renamed my current config to dvbhdhomerun and symlinked it to /etc/dvbhdhomerun - refer to my guide.

So overall, I'm happy its working flawlessly now  8)

5.0-rc13 is out, hopefully Reginald can compile the new kernel for us with userhdhomerun loading to /usr/bin/userhdhomerun on boot :D

Will that also work with my Hauppauge card? :-)

this is only needed when you build media tree ;)

so just wait for new build, other rest will be work this same

unRAID rc13 + generic media tree + dvbsky

https://truck.it/p/DUqT5i1Oii

.....should work with Hauppauge

Awesome, no more Realtek issues and TV works fine. Thank you for the latest TVH also!

I'm working my way to an ESXi build soon...
