Whoops, spoke too soon... No channels working now

Bit Error Rate:

dmesg:

cx24116_firmware_ondemand: Waiting for firmware upload(2)...

cx24116_firmware_ondemand: No firmware uploaded (timeout or file not found?)

cx24116_cmd_execute(): Unable initialise the firmware

I installed the firmware myself for the time being ;)

im forget put firmwares into image

latter im fix this

in my folder is latest package of tvheadend

https://app.dumptruck.goldenfrog.com/p/Vq3zpArAKB

just replace this in plugin

Still shows old one :)

What Piotrasd actually meant was adapting the plugin file and replace the URL of the old package with the URL of his package. It should look like this after editing the plugin file:

<FILE Name="/boot/config/plugins/tvheadend/tvheadend_W-W.txz" Run="upgradepkg --install-new">

<URL>--no-check-certificate https://dl.dumptruck.goldenfrog.com/p/Vq3zpArAKB/tvheadend-20130604-i686-1PTr.txz?dl=1</URL>

<MD5>f2cfd6ed2927d381e9054321a29ed602</MD5>

At least that worked for me. Thanks Piotrasd!

jus7incase I don't use the .plg, I was just too eager and checked before the upload had finished!

I have great success! I followed KidCastros instructions, thanks, and after some trial and error with the dvbhdhomerun file config and go file I got the tuners to show up in tvheadend.

Some notes:

If you didnt know US uses ATSC so in the windows hdhomerun config setup select atsc

I ran into a problem where for some reason curl and tvheadend dont install automatically after reboot even though theyre in the /boot/extras folder so I just called out the install in my go file see below

Ill be scanning the muxes this weekend and give updates.

#!/bin/bash
# Start the Management Utility
/usr/local/sbin/emhttp &

cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs
-n1 sh -c
/boot/config/plugins/snap/snap.sh -b
/boot/unmenu/uu

installpkg /boot/extras/curl-7.19.2-i486-1.tgz
installpkg /boot/extras/tvheadend-20130604-i686-1PTr.txz

ln -s /boot/custom/userhdhomerun /usr/bin/userhdhomerun
ln -s /boot/custom/dvbhdhomerun /etc/dvbhdhomerun
modprobe dvb_hdhomerun && sleep 10 && /usr/bin/userhdhomerun &

sleep 20 && sudo -u root tvheadend -c /mnt/cache/unraid/tvheadend -u root -g video -f 2>&1 >/dev/null

Hi - Can anyone tell me if I can use my Leadtek Winfast Gold with the rc12a bzroot/bzimage from Reginald?

I keep getting Mediatree detected but no DVB detected.

Also - Does anyone know of any usb DVB tuners that will work easily just incase my Winfast USB doesn't work?  I know the HDHomerun works, just looking for a tuner that may be a bit cheaper.

Thanks!

@piotrasd any progress on rebuilding RC13? It looks like the firmware i got from the guide on linuxtv.org doesn't work as expected. I'm only able to tune into 4-5 channels...

this is only needed when you build media tree ;)

so just wait for new build, other rest will be work this same

unRAID rc13 + generic media tree + dvbsky

https://truck.it/p/DUqT5i1Oii

.....should work with Hauppauge

I had no luck with that build either. My af9015 is not recognized as it was on the builds before...

dmesg says:

Hi there,

I am going to buy TV tuner cards to have 2 DVB-C tuners. The CI-Card slot is not necessary onboard, I will have an external USB solution for that anyway.

If you have experience with any of the following boards it would be great if you would share it (sorry the links are for Amazon Germany):

@mettbrot

Did not find the firmware file 'dvb-usb-af9015.fw'. Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems. Status -2

you need firmware, do you use my latest rc13 or rc12 build ?

(because in rc13 im forget add firmwares, in rc12 for sure there are)

Yes, i saw that. As I said it worked with RC12. Can you provide a build with the firmware files or is there something I can do? Put the file somewhere / move it somewhere on boot?

@Mettbrot

Look at post 122 (page 9) for info on how to repack bzroot. First line unpacks the bzroot file. Copy the right fw files into /lib/firmware and repack bzroot with the second line.

KidCastro, you are the man! Thanks for fixing my first attempt at this, for some reason the notifications have stopped being sent to me on this thread. We are opening a new power plant at work so things have been and will be crazy for a bit. I will work on compiling a RC13 kernel, I hope to have it set tomorrow or Wednesday.

I will look into fixing the issue with the userhdhomerun not being installed on boot, let's hope my second time works out better. ;-)

Edit: I started in on RC13, there are a few changes due to Tom upgrading to v3.9.3 of the Linux kernel, I am not sure how this will affect the tuners. I will test it out (hopefully tonight) and if it runs I will post it tomorrow. My script is missing at least one dependency and there is an update for HDHomeRun. Also I will find out if the r8168 NIC works if not I hope that the driver will work but based on Tom's post Realtech has a bug in the driver that will not let it compile against the 3.9.x kernels.

Edit 2: I have gotten it to at least compile and I made sure that userhdhomerun is installed this time, you will still need to edit the dvbhomerun file and link it with your Go file, I am testing in the VM then I will put it on my server and see if I am able to get Network, the makemenu is different from 3.4.x so I hope I turned on what was needed.

Edit 3: It booted! So now I am looking into why it was complaining about the module not being loaded, I will let you all know how it goes. It looks like the r8168 driver is not needed any more which is great.

I'm not sure if it is the new kernel or the firmware i got for my tuner but i can no longer tune into HD channels...

Hi Chaps, newbee here!

Apologies for this but Im new to unraid and having some problems with Tvheadend.  I currently use it on my Ubuntu setup and now want to change to unraid for reasons I wont bore you with.  I have downloaded unraid 5rc9a and set up Plex, Dropbox and Airvideo successfully but try as I might Tvheadend eludes me.  I have downloaded the Tvheadend file Tvheadend 20130426-i686, and placed it into the extras file in my boot usb.  When I fire the unraid up I can see it state the package is installed but it does not appear in the settings section of the gui (I have simple features installed) and I cant navigate to my towers ip:9981.

I suspect I am missing something silly but my brain is now fried.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@ihavesoldout

hi

please put me here dmesg after boot

i find this for your tuner

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Leadtek_WinFast_DTV_Dongle_Gold

you can try also

modprobe dvb_usb_af9015 or modprobe af9015

Hi Piostrad,  I had to disable the plugin as it kept not letting me mount my array on reboot - I will wait a bit until this has matured for rc13 and then give it another try!

RC14 is out so we have another chance :)

Well then I am going to have to start over, I will let you all know how it goes. Hopefully I will have some time this weekend.

Hey Reginald, thank you for the compiles man.

I have to say the whole process was painful to say the least but so happy with how it performs now  ;) After having it run for the last week or 2, it hasnt skipped a beat and all my xbmc clients have not had any issues.

Would be nice to get the last rc14 built and please try to load the userhdhomerun file which is the only thing missing really.

Other than that, your RC12 with hdhomerun build has been amazing. Looking forward to upgrading to RC14 but not going to until you release your compile.

Thanks again  8)

Sorry been away from the forum for the longest. If anyone needs help with the hdhomerun guide, I'll be here to lend a hand.

I am going to wait until Tom posts the new RC, you can find his post here. I will compile and test from there, with all of the kernel changes it is a bit harder to figure out what options I need to compile to allow us access to use our tuners. Most of that heavy lifting was done by others so I was able to use that as a cheat sheet. I have verified that userhdhomerun is in the build 13 I have but I ran into some other issues but now I am going to wait for the new release so I don't waste to much time chasing things that may be changing.

Thanks man, really appreciate the work you put in... no rush  ;)

KidCastro,

How did you set your openelec to pick up your unraid tvheadend? Im working with a frodo build of openelec, have livetv enabled, ive scanned stations in tvheadened , set the htsp client in openelec to both the name and ip and nothing shows up.
