What media player do you use?

I would have gone that route but I will eventually set up emulators which I prefer to store locally.

I'll have to see how quick it boots, if nothing else out of interest. I am impressed how well this little box works, just have to replace the PSU fan, its a little loud.

As far as how other options compare to WMC, if you are using stock wmc with no add-ons, I suggest you take a look at some, they are great.

Fusion E350 Mini-itx, running Openelec on a 250Gig 2.5" drive, 4 GB ram

I'm really not sure how long it took to boot on the fusion, I didn't have it on that input when I booted, changed inputs after about a minute and it was up and running.

Is that an Asrock board?

Gigabyte, it was on sale at newegg a couple weeks ago as a combo deal, ill get the model when I get home

Alright, this is the board:

Gigabyte GA-E350N

Like I said, overall I'm happy, just have to replace the PSU fan since its loud(what can you expect from a 35mm fan).

The combo came with a iStar case, nothing special there. One thing that was noted about the case was the fan hole for the PSU was offset, covering part of the fan up. I used a dremel to fix this issue. Otherwise its a sturdy case, but really small(what I wanted) so its a tight fit.

Just have to figure out if I want to mod a IR receiver to the case or go ahead and buy the pulse eight CEC adapter. The CEC adapter will be cleaner, modding a receiver will be cheaper(free because I have 3-4 laying around)

Will it play all media incl. 1080p, bluray-rips with menus and HD-audio? What is this CEC-adapter?

I do not have a hd receiver for the sound and don't have any full bluesy rips on the server right now to test. Waiting for prices on the 3 & 4 TB drives to come down more to expand so I'm working with limited storage right now. Because of that I'm only storing 1080p brrips encoded to x264.

Yeah, also waiting for those prices to come down, but it will be a long wait I'm afraid.

Boxe ftw !!

Strange thing maybe though, AFP and SMB activated, all working wonderfully on puters and TV's all around the place, but my box can't connect via AFP, but in SMB it works wonderfully.

I've always liked Boxee, never owned one but have a few friends that have.

--Dikkiedirk, The prices are coming down on them, it wouldn't be such a huge deal but the first time I go for one I have to get two in order for it to be worth while, lol. Of course if I get one I would still gain 2 TB from my current parity. I may end up going ahead and grabbing a 4 TB in the next few months, the gained 2 TB will tide me over for a little while, hopefully until prices do come down

I have two HTPC's with MediaPortal running in my Living- and Bedroom.

Works great in combination with my unRaid Server holding all the media.

I would have gone for XBMC, but because i am also using my HTPC's for Live TV i stuck with MediaPortal.

Just got my Raspberry Pi, want to see what i can do with that using Rasbmc oder OpenElec.

PVR support has finally made it into the main XBMC code (on the latest Frodo nightly releases) - from what I've read, using the MediaPortal TV Server as the backend works well...
