Considering that the SanDisk MobileMate is a highly recommended product in this and other threads, I'm sure some people will appreciate the fact that I'm sharing this awful experience. I highly doubt I was unlucky; it's probably a manufacturing issue that has affected loads of units, judging from what I've seen in different online shops. On a different note, the SanDisk QuickFlow does not seem to have a unique GUID. This is what the SanDisk support responded to my question: Edited October 27, 20241 yr by s1l3nce

I was able to get through install with manual method for the trial key, but now that its time to purchase, it is saying the guid is blacklisted. Turns out the GUID is mostly 0s (11B0-3307-0000-000000000015) and I seem SOL. I would assume the Kingstone MobileLite is not safe to use, so save your money!

They both have worked flawlessly for many years. Those are no longer available (not even on eBay last I checked). As to the other card readers that fall under the MobileLite family, some work well with Unraid (unique GUID) and some do not. There seem to be a lot of counterfeit flash drives these days as well and those always seem to have generic GUIDs. It much more of a crap shoot than it used to be.
February 18, 20251 yr I've got the white lexar card reader that some have said works, so if i ever have an issue i'll switch to that + an endurance microsd card, but until then i think i'll wait it out since i'm not sure i want to deal with having to transition. What happens when the license check fails due to a usb drive issue? what's the recovery process like? assuming i have backups of the usb drive to my array via appdata backups. though i'm wondering if there's a way to set up those backups to go elsewhere so that they're accessible easily outside unraid... found an easy way to sync my backup regularly off my server using syncthing, so that's good Edited February 18, 20251 yr by john_smith

Unraid Connect plugin will keep flash backup on Unraid Cloud. Also, you can download a zipped flash backup from MAIN - Boot Device - flash - FLASH BACKUP. If you have to resort to trying to get flash backup off your server, it can get a lot more complicated, since flash has all of your configuration (EVERY setting from the webUI) including disk assignments.

In fact, I believe the readers included with both the Pro Plus and Pro Ultimate series are identical. https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/memory-cards/pro-ultimate-reader-microsdxc-128gb-mb-my128sb-am/ I can confirm this. After I first received the SanDisk MobileMate with bend pins and returned it, I got lucky and bought a Samsung Pro Ultimate for just 13€ including SD-Card reader. My high endurance microSD already came with one of those microSD to SD adapters, I just successfully activated it. Samsung Pro Ultimate SD with Reader - currently 20€ on Amazon (Europe) (15€ for 64GB Version) This seems to bee cheaper than any Samsung Pro Plus combination with an microSD Reader. But it is bulky. August 3, 2025Aug 3 checking my microSD reader today via the unRAID USB creator tool, it looks like it has a generic GUID so it's blacklisted, even though it's one of the ones that should have a unique one:Lexar LRWM03U-7000 Rev A GLooks like I will try one of the other ones mentioned on this thread instead.
