September 9, 201411 yr Author The newest release of Plex finally supports UNRAID 64bit! I'm not sure I understand. My plugin runs plex on unraid 64bit already. Are you saying they just released a txt finally for the 64bit? If so, that's good but they are terrible at keeping it up to date like they do with the .deb for ubuntu.
September 9, 201411 yr They now (like the 32 bit version) have a precompiled .txz file for 64bit unraid. No need to use the Ubuntu files anymore: https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/62832-plex-media-server/?p=716738 Improved support for SRT subtitles, especially those including bidirectional text and Unicode characters. Support for 64-bit UnRAID systems. Support for PPC Thecus systems.
September 9, 201411 yr Well to be fair all they really do is add unraid "sauce" to the deb package. That was why we were able to make a hybrid 32/64 version before PhAzE stepped up. I'm gonna bet they are using the same old plugin gui as back with 32 bit version and aren't up on the latest plugin features like upgrade and remove. That said they were very good at keeping the unraid version in sync with the latest releases. They just didn't show much interest in changing the bare minimum of unraid-ism they included. So PhAzE's version will likely be the go to. That said, it might be good phaze to shoot them an email and let them know what you are up to. They might offer to host.
September 12, 201411 yr Alright, so incoming possibly stupid question: Wiped out my Plex database when I upgraded from 5.05 to 6.09, no big deal. Can't get the new 64bit plugin to install. Get a screen that looks like the one attached. It happens regardless of whether I state the install location as usr/local/... or on my cache drive, says it's running out of space. After this it gives the "can't detect version" fault, and when I try to upgrade it kicks out this; /etc/rc.d/rc.plexmediaserver update Stopped 2>&1 Installing latest version of Plex Media Server... tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/show-fanart.jpg: Wrote only 9216 of 10240 bytes tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/aperture-icon.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/video.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/movie-fanart.jpg: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/iphoto-icon.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/photo-fanart.jpg: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/show.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/DefaultAlbumCover.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/photo.png: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/Graphics/favicon.ico: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/lastfm-combiner-artists.xml: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Resources/empty.ts: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libz.so.1: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libboost_regex.so.1.50.0: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/Plex Media Scanner: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libcurl.so.4: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libavformat.so.54: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libass.so.4: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/librtmp.so.0: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libnatpmp.so.1: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/libavcodec.so.54: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: plexmediaserver/plex-archive-keyring.gpg: Cannot write: No space left on device tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous error Seems to point to a common problem, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. Like I said, plenty of space on my flash drive and plenty of space on the cache drive. very strange but here's what happened likely. The install happens in /tmp folder which is part of the os that exists in ram. Basically you ran out of ram to extract the files. One way around is to stop all other running plugins and let plex install, the other is to manually extract the .deb in your packages folder into your install directory. How much ram does your server have?
September 13, 201411 yr Only running 2GB of RAM. Regardless, what I ended up doing was going all-in and wiping my cache drive, reformatting it and switching over to btrfs and installing the docker version of plex. Seems to be working perfectly so far.
September 15, 201411 yr Moved to the Phaze plugin today from the previous method (spidi's plugin I believe) and it went pretty smoothly except when Plex came back up the Plex server name had changed to the unRAID machine name (in fact it lost most of it's configuration except for my libraries). Changing it to it's previous name was no big deal, but Plex now treats it as a new server and I had to re-share with all of the people I previously shared libraries with. Definitely a pain, but manageable. Thanks for creating a great plugin and keeping those of us still on v5 current.
October 12, 201411 yr this evening i have changed from influencer to your script, i have moved all files and renamed olf plg and txz files. however, when i hit apply after changed the drectories, it seem to hang.. this line is displayed at the bottom. /etc/rc.d/rc.plexmediaserver enable /usr/local/plexmediaserver /mnt/cache/Data/Apps/Data/plex_new/ /mnt/cache/Data/Apps/Data/plex_new/tmp_folder/ 32400 nobody standard ! ! no yes i have left it sitting for 10 minutes and nothing happens.at first i thought it was downloading .deb file, but looking in the packages folder i could see any. Any ideas? edit: i need to work on my patience.. as i finished tying the above, plex had started and everything is cool like Fonzie.. THANKS!
October 26, 201411 yr Followed all the instructions in OP, and Plex seems to be happy, but it just hangs (webapp on 32400) on startup. The only thing suspicious in this logs seem to be an old db schema, but I'd expect that to be upgraded. I was previously running 0.9.7ish with the unPlugged plugins. Attaching logs. Plex_Media_Server.log.txt
October 26, 201411 yr I let it run overnight to no avail, when I tried to restart it, it looks like Plex wasn't responding to the shutdown: Oct 25, 2014 23:19:16 [0xb4ab4710] DEBUG - Running 4 database fix-ups. October 27, 201411 yr I trashed my database and started with an empty library/config dir. Startup worked and everything is rescanning now.
November 16, 201411 yr Do I set my library path and temp path to the follow? Or is the library path point all the way to "Plex Media Server". Upgrading from old plex server plugin. /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/library or /library/Plex Medai Server? /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/temp
November 16, 201411 yr Author These will work: /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/library /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/temp You don't need the updater plugin.
November 17, 201411 yr Just upgraded to the new plugin, seems to have installed fine as I can watch all my content, however I have no artwork. It appears all other information regarding my previous install was preserved such as what movies I have and haven't watched, On Deck, Recently Added, all movie metadata, etc. Artwork is the only thing missing. I've tried refreshing and re-analyzing my libraries but this hasn't worked. I also tried deleting all bundles in the /Plex/Application Support/Plug-ins directory and restarting Plex (read somewhere that this should help). Nothing has worked so far. I remember having this same thing happen about a year ago when I updated Plex, seems like I just re-installed the plugin and it fixed it but can't really remember. Anyway, could it be anything related to the plugin, maybe where I pointed my library data to? Edit: I seem to have solved the problem. Not exactly sure how though. I tried restarting Plex several times, rebooted unRAID several times, and deleted framework.bundle and system.bundle from .../Plex/Application Support/Plugins, then kept trying to rescan library. Eventually it just worked. Thanks Phaze for the awesome work.
November 17, 201411 yr Author That's really strange. Not sure why it wouldn't work then suddenly work, ... but.. who am I to complain when it worked now

I tried restarting Plex several times, rebooted unRAID several times, and deleted framework.bundle and system.bundle from .../Plex/Application Support/Plugins, then kept trying to rescan library. Eventually it just worked. Thanks Phaze for the awesome work. I had the exact same issue as you when I upgraded to Phaze's plugin. I had previously been running spidi's original plugin (the one listed on the unRAID 5 Plugins wiki page), along with Benni-chan's updater plugin. I beat my head against a wall for the better part of 2 days (and tried everything you did and then some) until I figured out the cause. The issue is permissions. Spidi's old plugin ran as user Plex (or Plex something, don't remember the exact username). Phaze's plugin runs as user nobody. I ran the unRAID New Permissions utility and the issue was immediately resolved. This doesn't explain why yours just started working, but I suggest you run the New Permissions utility anyway. Also, Phaze, it might be a good idea to add running New Permissions to your install instructions. Users coming from a version of the plugin that ran as nobody won't need it, but it doesn't hurt either.
November 18, 201411 yr Dude, that's exactly what fixed it! Looking back I did run the permissions utility yesterday evening because I was trying to clean up some files in my cache drive and kept getting "you don't have permission errors". It was after that I noticed plex working. I never would have put the two together.
November 18, 201411 yr I did a upgrade and for some reason it did not read or recognize all old database...so I went ahead and cleaned the folder out and started from scratch. My scanned movies did not recognize all of my xbmc nfo files for when i selected use local info. All my movies did not have any metadata or artwork. So I switched to one of the other scanners. Do I need to delete database and select one of those from the beginning to get it to work properly?
November 20, 201411 yr Author According to the posts above you need to run the new permissions script on your unraid server. Let me know of that works for you too.
November 20, 201411 yr Author Did any of you guys try seeing run as user to root, hit apply, them back to nobody, hit apply? That will chown all the folders for Plex and also should fix the permissions.
November 30, 201411 yr I followed all of the instructions in OP and removed my old plug-in (PlexUpdater). Every time I try and start up Plex (after pointing my Config/Library and Transcode directories to mnt/cache/Apps/Plex/Library and Temp respectively), I get the "PID Not Created...Start Failed" message. When I try to go look at the logs in /user/local/plexmediaserver, I realize that I only have the Resources folder in that Directory -- there's no sign of a Config directory. Oh, and I ran the New Permissions script just for good measure... One of the previous posters suggested that their CPU might be too old -- mine's a Core 2 Duo...might this be it? I'm a little confused at this point -- Plex hadn't been working properly for the last 2 months, so I decided to switch to this plug-in in the hopes of fixing it. Now, I'm really not sure what's going on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... ***** EDITED 11/30/2014 @ 1:50PST ***** I did some more looking, and apparently my Cache drive is pretty shot. I've ordered an SSD, going to migrate everything over, and then try this again. Also, I realized that I wouldn't see those files in the /usr/local/plexmediaserver area since I've pointed them to my Cache drive (which might have been the problem all along).
