[Solved?] Strangest thing I've ever seen - USB boots, but no files in /Boot!

Yep, tried that and its working...but, now I'm getting a boot but after it boots, its not fully loaded - if that makes sense.

Boot finds the USB and it displays the blue UnRaid boot menu.

Boot begins and part way through It displays an unable to find /dev/find-by-name waiting 30 secs, then it shutsdown and reboots.

Once rebooting, it boots to login

Login root

ifconfig shows ethernet active and has an IP, can ping things, but I can't access http://tower

ls of /boot/config - no files!

ls of /boot/ no files!

(See screenprint of typical directories - http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20150519-0qc7-152kb)

This is the strangest thing I've seen...

Any ideas?

Are you sure you format your flash drive to FAT32 and named it UNRAID?

@Jonp - Nope, not listed in lsblk: http://my.jetscreenshot.com/12412/20150519-yssy-61kb

@Squidd -

Again, just to be clear.  This works without a flaw in my BioStar TA-880GU3+.

PERHAPS IMPORTANT?: This is UR6 RC 2.0.

What does the syslog show?

*sorry* - should have included.  Attached is the syslog from the system now operating fine.  Just installed the trial key (btw, the trial key process from the webgui is broken - please see my post in defects).  I've rebooted 2 or 3 times and its working fine from the USB 3.0 port.

Server is happily formatting disks in trial mode.

Now to see if I get the dreaded "Panic"...

Since its now working, not much you can tell from the syslog.  But I would keep an eye on the syslog.  I would bet (not alot though) that when it wasn't working they were showing up.  In other words, the motherboard and/or linux lost track of the stick.  I used to have them on one of my mobos, and solved it by disabling the USB3 ports in the BIOS.  (ie - having them only work as usb2)

Probably, I did see a bunch of strange things as the machine booted.  At this point the system has been running the trial UR 6 2.0 in a basic config (Mobo NIC, 3 drives on mobo) for an hour and a half.  Parity is about half done.  Time will tell...

Interesting you had to disable USB 3.0, I had to enable it.  Strange...
