SeaBIOS, Q35-2.3, 1 CPU core, 1 GB Ram.

Just to be clear, I'm using the Plex Media Player embedded distribution.

Loading this up today with my 6450

So not kodi/openelec as the thread would indicate?  May explain why this still doesn't work...

Mystery solved. You need to make sure your set to 60hz, seems there is a kernel bug and if your vm jumps to 59.x Hz like mine,  then you get no audio.

But,  set to 60 Hz and you get sound. Finally

If anyone is interested in LibreElec nightly builds (with kodi 17 and the new skin), they are here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=269815

Each build comes with a changelog too which is nice.

you'll need to build from the image on the LibreElec website, then just update to a nightly using the update folder share on LibreElec.

Thanks for this guide. I set up libreelec 7.0.1 with an AMD HD6450.

I did a backup of my chromebox kodi, restored on the vm and only had to change a couple of settings. Works great.

I can confirm that vnc did not work, I had to install with the gpu passed through.

Also, as long as the gpu is dedicated to this vm, there are no issues, but when I was switching between VMs, I kept getting the dreaded kernel panic errors (not passing through hdmi sound works but then you have no sound). After a restart, it works fine, and as long as you don't pass it through to other VMs there are no issues with restarts.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial on how to setup LibreELEC on unraid?

Is there a step-by-step tutorial on how to setup LibreELEC on unraid?

Can't see it being much different seeing as LE is a fork of OE

I did it exactly like described for OpenELEC. Works.

Yeah, it does. Got it working just after I wrote the post :P Forgot that I had to change the xml manually 'virtio' to 'sata' ect...

Nice!

I may have found my nirvana...

LibreELEC + EmulationStation  :D

https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread-302-post-2193.html#pid2193

I have it running in a VM now but haven't had much of a chance to play around.  I'll report back later.

EXCITED!!!

How did you install it ?

Same way I did in the OP.

I am on unraid 6.2 rc2 i cant do what you did

Unraid force me with only libreelec version 7.0

Don't use the template provided by LT.  Create your own custom VM and following the instructions.

Just thought I'd add to my previous experience using this install guideline for Plex Media Player earlier. I recently re-did the VM so I could update to the latest PMP, which is now using OpenLibre as its base as oppose to OpenELEC.

Nothing different needed to be done from this guide.

No, it's a media player endpoint, so without a gpu it's pretty much useless. Kind of like getting a chromecast but not plugging it into a TV. What are you trying to do?

just trying to set up a remote kodi box that does all the heavy lifting for my clients

im aware i can do it through docker but i like having the comfort of a gui

using official LT OE/LE templates i can achieve it but theyre really outdated

so i was trying to do it through official source

I don't think it will work the way you want it.

If I understand you, you want a "server" openelec that stream the video to the clients?

Not sure I understand what heavy lifting means.

I would set up kodi headless container and mariadb for the media library in OE/LE, then set up all the client to connect to the database.

sorry. by heavy lifting i mean host my sources and do hourly scraping, updates, etc.

i have a mysql db already working with my apple tv that does all this

i just wanna take the load off my apple tv and have a template for it

didnt like the docker experience and also cant find one with kodi v17 because its still in beta

I'm not going to get into whether it's a better solution than the headless docker, but just to let you know, I had it set up without a gpu through vnc. Only when I was testing and installing it, though. I then put in a gpu and have been using it that way
