Correct way to assign Include / Exclude disks for shares?

If I want to explicitly exclude a disk from a share, say, disk2, do I have to explicitly set both the Included and Excluded disks? That is to say:

Included: disk1, disk3, disk4

Excluded: disk2

or should Included be left at All, like this?:

Included: All

Excluded: disk2

Furthermore...

What if I only wanted disk1 and disk4 to be used? Should I explicitly exclude disk1 and disk3? Because it seems to be good enough to leave the excludes out, like this:

Included: disk1, disk4

Excluded: None

What if I missed one of the excludes, like this?:

Included disk1, disk4

Excluded: disk3

Allowing both Includes and Excludes to be set without the other being forced, is confusing, at best.

Thank you.

Always use one or the other, but not both.

There are some rules that are applied if there is a conflict when setting them both, but its best to only use one.

And yes, it is confusing that when setting an exclude, the include stays set to be "All".  Should get greyed out IMHO

So then:

Include: All

Exclude: safe to list drives you never want the share to be present on

and

Include: safe to list only drives you want the share to be present on

Exclude: None

is the correct method?

Yes. You've got it. Include means only the listed drives. Exclude mean except the listed drives.
