mcjfauser
My server shut down unconventionally recently, and upon reboot one drive showed to be disabled, with its contents emulated. I have 2 WD RED 8 TB, with one as Parity, and a SSD as Cache. The drive seems to be in good health (completed extended test without error), I'm just wondering how to proceed from here to get it back online? Here are the SMART extended self-test results: Quote smartctl 6.6 2017-11-05 r4594 [x86_64-linux-4.14.26-unRAID] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-17, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Western Digital Red Device Model: WDC WD80EFAX-68LHPN0 Serial Number: 7SGL5JKC LU WWN Device Id: 5 000cca 252c84374 Firmware Version: 83.H0A83 User Capacity: 8,001,563,222,016 bytes [8.00 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5400 rpm Form Factor: 3.5 inches Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show] ATA Version is: ACS-2, ATA8-ACS T13/1699-D revision 4 SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Tue Aug 7 15:04:01 2018 ACST SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. JorgeB
Either re-enable and rebuild the disabled drive, or if nothing was written to the emulated drive it might be better to do a new config and check parity. Link to comment

Thank you. Just to confirm: Quote By far the best and safest option is the second way, to rebuild the drive onto itself, writing the up-to-date emulated drive to the physical drive. Is making reference to these steps? Quote You can re-enable the hard drive and reconstruct it as follows: Stop the array. Go to the Main page (Devices in version 4.7) and unassign the disk. Go to the Main page (Array Operations section) and start the array. Stop the array again. Go to the Main page (Devices in version 4.7) and re-assign the disk. Go to the Main page (Array Operations section) - the system should indicate there is a "new" drive to replace the disabled one. Check the confirmation box and click the Start button to start a reconstruct/rebuild of the disk. Link to comment
