  1. Ok, so I copied the "mainnet" folder from the ubuntu system and put it in the appdata folder (after making a backup). I started up the container and the wallet is synced! But now I get this error in the network section: Connection error. Check if full node rpc is running at 8555 This is normal if full node is still starting up Guessing I overwrote some files I should not of. Any idea which ones they were?
  2. cool looking update! Ubuntu finished syncing awhile back, still stuck on the same block with this docker though. Is it possible to copy over the ubuntu official data to get this "over the hump"?
  3. SAS drives skyrocketed in price the last week. I was able to find lots of drives a week or 2 ago for less then $20, now they are all 2-3x the price.
  4. Wise idea, I have had to sort out some other issues so have not had time to spend on chia the last week. Still waiting for my 10k drives to ship from ebay, seems that the seller is having second thoughts about selling 20 146gb 10k drives for $15 now that everyone is shopping for them lol.
  5. lol, I am waiting till pools come out to get that serious. Got a few systems in the closet that could be pressed into service but have a feeling they will not be worth it and storage will be my limiting factor in short order anyways. I am guessing between my main machines I can plot ~6-8TB a day, so it will only take a week or 2 to fill up my spare storage as I am waiting on an order for some 14tb drives from 2 months ago. Ordered them just before Chia went big since I have used up all my big drives and want to have a proper backup.
  6. Windows has software but it is very old and has issues with very large disks like this from what I heard. Linux has ram disk functionality built in and works well. Although like we are finding out the drive IO is not really the bottleneck for a single plot, so the plotting speed is only marginally improved.
  7. I know that is what is strange, the blockchain has been stuck like this for 2 days: Current Blockchain Status: Full Node syncing to block 350059 Currently synced to block: 272168 Current Blockchain Status: Not Synced. Peak height: 272168 Time: Wed May 12 2021 20:14:00 CDT Height: 272168 Estimated network space: 4.045 EiB Current difficulty: 274 Current VDF sub_slot_iters: 109051904 Total iterations since the start of the blockchain: 878933278386 Yet something is being downloaded and CPU is being used (although not as much as initially).
  8. Odd, still not syncing on mine. I have valid connections it seems but no traffic on them oddly. 9. Finding several interesting things about having 256gb of ram in my main system (got 384gb of DDR3 ECC for $225 on ebay ;-)) I am moving a bunch of stuff around organizing some drives and it multiple times I will move things only for it to still be cached in ram and not need to be read from disk, kinda interesting for someone that constantly watches the usage graphs.
  10. I gave that a try, seems to have to select which process to restart, I just selected all since I don't have plots running: chia start all -r I will give it a bit and see if it proceeds any further. The ubuntu system is updating, slowly but moving, up to the 24th at this point, was on the 23rd when I started it.
  11. The normal chia program on ubuntu seems to be updating properly on another machine. I wounder if I can copy the updated info to this docker and then it will only have to update new blocks? Maybe solving the issue?
  12. To be honest I am shocked that snapshots are not a core component of unraid already. This is a basic feature of storage based OS's for many years at this point. Heck even windows has snapshots lol. A GUI to manage snapshots would be amazing, I have scripts that do it now but I will take a GUI option over CLI any day.
  13. Reddit annoys me lol. I only use it as a last resort. All I am really interested in is when pools are released at this point. Figure I will fill a few drives and see what the payouts are like for a week or 2 before doing much more.
  14. Also curious about options to maintain plugins across updates. Got a few custom additions to the docker that I have to redo every update right now.
  15. Is it normal for the syncing to get stuck for days at a time? Been stuck on this for the last 2 days: Current Blockchain Status: Full Node syncing to block 348816 Currently synced to block: 272168 Current Blockchain Status: Not Synced. Peak height: 272168 Time: Wed May 12 2021 20:14:00 CDT Height: 272168 Restarted the docker but still there.
  16. yep, been there, done that. I was going to put up more of a fight but I needed the space for the server racks I knew I wanted to get, so ended up "giving in" to cleaning out the wood and got to keep all my "junk tools I never use"
  17. I used to have a pile like that but cleaned up the garage last year not realizing what was going to happen to the price of lumber.
  18. Ok, user script in this context is literally just a script that the user created and not a script in the user script plugin. That was throwing me off big time. Sadly easier and simpler to just manually run the user script then try to get the automated script working with UD and then have to manage scripts in multiple places. It would be so cool if the plugins could work together. A basic option in UD to kick off a user script "run in background" task just as if I had pressed the button manually. Not a huge deal, I have been manually running the snapshot script and can keep doing so.
  19. I am considering the exact same thing for a small rack to go under the desk actually. If 2x4's were not stupid expensive that is.
  20. Still sorting out cable/drive issues and have not got it started back up yet but had another question I ran across. While I am in here, I am curious how the user scripts part of UD is supposed to work? I have a user script that I would like executed after mounting a drive (creates a snapshot of drive). It looks like it wants me to select a user script file in the "script file" input but when I try it will never populate the path from the dropdown menu? The "user script" input is grayed out and will not let me enter anything. I tried coping the script contents into the "script content" section at one point but it didn't seem to work and gave me no output to debug it. Is it possible to just trigger a user script when a drive is mounted (preferably with the user script background logging enabled)? I could not figure out the UD scripting layout and it always failed.
  21. Ah, makes sense. I have been playing a lot of sneaker mail lately. Lucky for me all of my chassis are supermicro so I can swap drives between them all.
  22. lol, yeah I had to move all my plots onto a backup 12tb drive for the time being as I didn't want to delete them. I guess you are out of internal space for drives? I have never had good luck running external drives long term. Part of why I am setting of a JBOD now that should hopefully allow me to keep everything "internal".
  23. lol, I actually just got 3 full sized pretty nice racks off craigslist for $150, cannibalized 1 of them to get 1 really nice rack and one pretty good and came out with a total of $70 for the pair. I ain't complaining. Don't have nearly enough equipment for both at the moment but using the 2nd as storage for spare parts. They are in the garage and humming away nicely. No way I would be allowed to have those in the house. Temps stay surprisingly good when you can crank the fans to 100% and not care as well, even with it being 90-100f out there. I am really sad, I had my eye on a mobo for the backup server but it went from being all over the place to sold out in a week.
  24. Interesting, I am guessing using the built in downgrade option is the best way to do that? I will give it a try.
  25. I am on 6.9.2 if that helps. Server is down for the moment while I chase some unrelated cable issues.
