  1. How deep is the path you're trying to copy to? If it's below your split level, unraid won't create it on a new disk (which would explain why it isn't using disk 10)
  2. Your split level setting is telling unraid to keep everything below temp on one disk. Thus it's trying to put all your 3d blu rays on one disc and failing when that disc runs out of space. If you saved them to like /movies/3d blu-rays/ I think it will act how you expect.
  3. Only comments I have are: You really probably don't need the extra seasonic cables as there's a very good chance the power supply will already come with two 3 molex hookups and worst case (if you decide you do need them) you'll be able to hook up 5 of the backplanes (20 drives worth) while you order the cables. And I really suggest against the 7 splitter power cable as everything I've heard is that it's nothing but trouble. There's no magic reason why it should work better than using your modular cables and quite a few why it will be worse (or cause problems). Also, make sure that the Noctua fans you're getting are PWM if you want to use that.
  4. Seasonic recommended www.btostech.com Look under surplus items -> seasonic cables I got 2 of the 6 pin to three molex power cables. Note that there is 2 versions of this cable, the flat black one (newer) and the round one with colored wires (older). Some of the older/newer cables are not compatible between power supply revisions, but the molex cable is the same for older and newer power supplies. I think the older cables are longer than the new ones but your power supply is so close that it won't really matter. For reasons that aren't entirely clear to me it looks like I ordered 4 of the cables. Wonder why I did that. The cables are really pretty cheap from btos ($5 each). Depending on which cable type your power supply comes with and whether you want your cables to match, you'll need at least one 3 molex cable (the 850x (ss-850km3) and 860xp2 comes with a 3 and 2 pin cable. The newer 850x (ss-850km) looks like it comes with a 3, 3, and 2). Newegg lists the older model # but the newer cable count. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151102 http://www.seasonicusa.com/NEW_X-series_560-660-760-850.htm Do you have a link for the cable? Do I need two of them?
  5. You may not need all those power splitters (people have mentioned that the norco ones are less than stellar). Connecting both power hookups on the backplane to one power supply doesn't add any benefit and my 4224s backplane did not even have the double hookups. Depending on what cables the power supply comes with you may be able to hook it up straight out of the box. I ordered a couple longer seasonic replacement cables for mine. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=29274.msg262353#msg262353
  6. Pro stuff are you sure? I'm almost positive that's the wrong ram (it's registered). Edit: I'm sure that's the wrong ram. You need ECC unbuffered. Registered ram won't work.
  7. Check your share settings to see of you are explicitly including only disks 1-3. If so, you will need to add disk 4 (or just clear it so all disks are included)
  8. I had some reservations about running 12 drives off one of the new thin black cables. The older cables seem thicker, so I ordered those. I have no idea if it really makes a difference, but it makes me feel a little better with nice thick cables.
  9. I assume you actually mean peripheral cables, since the 4224 uses molex, not sata power connectors. My SS-860XP2 also didn't come with enough 4-pin hookups so I contacted seasonic. No free cables, but they directed me to http://www.btostech.com/store/pc/Seasonic-Modular-Cables-c79.htm who supplied me with additional cables at a very reasonable price. They have both the old style (colored wires with nylon wrapping) and new style (flat black) cables. Some of the cables are slightly different between power supplies, but the molex ones are interchangable, if you happen to prefer one style over the other. And just to stay on topic, according to my UPS my server (8 WD Green drives) uses about 100W of power with all drives spun down, 160 during parity check. Yeah, the power supply I got is a bit overkill.
  10. I had no plans to hook up the second connector anyways. I'd just never seen this revision of the backplane and searching google/serveathome/unraid forums etc didn't find me anyone else who'd seen it either.
  11. I purchased a new 4224 and while hooking it up realized that the backplanes only have 1 power connector each, unlike the earlier models which had 2. I've tried looking into this to see if anyone else has one of these, but I can't find any pictures of any backplanes with anything except 2 power connectors. Anyone seen anything like this before? It's not hurting anything since I don't have redundant power supplies, just thought it was odd. The boards are dated 2013 26
  12. So, i needed more space in my server...plus with a non-modular power supply and nothing even close to hot swap bays, putting in hard drives was a huge pain. So i decided to get a Norco 4224. In order to save some money, I didn't buy the SAS expander card, figuring that a M1015 plus two reverse breakout cables would last me for 16 drives total. However, I didn't anticipate that the reverse breakout cables wouldn't reach the last 2 sata connectors on my motherboard. Given that it's movie night (yeah, a bad time to do server upgrades) I was in a panic and about to post here, on CL, run to microcenter, and call the local system builders etc looking for sata extension cables and probably paying a premium to get them immediately rather than ordering the $0.79 cables from monoprice. Then I had a flash of insight...there's no reason the last 2 drives need to be in the case.... Cue my ghetto 4224 with a nice hood ornament. Edit: Well, my SAS cables from monoprice came in earlier than expected so now I'm running 6 drives off the mobo and 2 off the m1015 and was able to close the case. I'll hook the rest up right when the other 2 cables come in. /running parity checks now
  13. Anecdotal, but my samba copy speed from my server with 16c is a solid 100MB/s via SMB from a user share to Win7 via gig-e. Only things installed are apcupsd and powerdown script.
  14. You need unregistered/unbuffered ram Look for something like: KVR16E11k4
  15. Good morning I have an m1015 that I purchased as a server pull. Attempting to use it in my unraid server isn't working. I see no bios for the card on booting, it is unrecognized when flashing, and I see no LEDs on the card when its plugged in an powered on While I'm aware that flashing it is hit or miss, I assume the card should at least be recognized and light up in most any mobo My unraid server is an asrock 890fx deluxe5 (pcie2 x16, x16, x4. All x16 form factor). I've also tried it in my desktop which has a single x16 pcie1 slot. No dice in either. I've already requested a return, but still have time to test options. Unfortunately my access to hardware is limited. Any suggestions? On the plus side I have discovered that my old 3dfx voodoo rush and stealth 64 cards both work. Lousy motherboard with only 1 pcie slot. Lol. Those are some classic video cards. :3
  16. Glad I found this thread, was having an issue this morning and saw the same errors and panicked a little >.< What's the cause of this, anyways?
  17. I'm planning to use one of these: http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/064/slotrafter_detail.html Nice and cheap, too.
  18. Yeah it's not about in terms of size, but rather form factor. Supermicro has a board that seem like they have the features I want (X9SPU-F) but it's UIO form factor >.< Obviously a lot of people have success with their sandy bridge setups but if I'm going to put the kind of money needed into this kind of setup I'd rather get the newer tech (since there's no real price difference from what I've seen, unless I just missed someone having a great sale on 1240s vs 1240V2s). I've read through (much) of this thread and many more like it and many on servethehome, etc. I've specced out the entire server *except* the motherboard due to the pesky ivy bridge thing. I'm only planning to have a single m1015 with expander, so it's a non-issue but I'd hate for it to bite me down the line if I put another card in there and expected it to pass through. :\
  19. I'm kind of itching to build one of these mega servers but I'm rather stuck at deciding what sort of motherboard to use. The X9SCM-iiF seems like an obvious choice, but I worry about the Ivy Bridge issues people seem to have. The Asus P8C WS is close to what I want, but no IPMI. Are there any boards available in a form factor that will work in a 4224 with C216, IPMI, VT-d, etc? Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough >.< Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely with C216?
  20. I just got done with my 9 month project of ripping all my DVDs and ran into the same issue. I settled on using a Pivos Aios because it will play DVD and BD movies (over the network and will pass through HD audio. Was only ~70 with rebate, as I recall. The standard interface is pretty horrid, but I'll live with it over going with one of the much more expensive or less capable solutions. One day maybe I'll figure out how to get the media jukebox thing set up so everything looks pretty. Used DVDFab to rip to folders and handbrake to MP4 for iPhone as needed, etc.
  21. A 64-bit kernel is a huge change so there's no point in waiting (I'd expect it to be in beta for months). I'm a sucker for upgrading to each new release as they come out so I'm already on RC10, but since this mostly seems to be an issue of people wanting to see the word "FINAL" somewhere, I say why not. Having said that, I've been speccing out a build on the X9SCM board, so my opinion may change when/if I run into the slow write issue...("Yay. After 8 months I've finally got all 8 drives in my small tower case. My first server is complete. Hmm. I wonder what it would take to expand to 24. Wow you can remote manage a server? and run VMs? And it'll run almost silently? I gotta get in on this!" *sigh* I blame Johnm. ;_
