Solutions

  1. SomeoneOnLine's post in [SOLVED] Disk 1 Failed/Disabled (re-added to array) but still shows unsupported was marked as the answer   
    Someone on reddit recommended I do a xfs repair on the disk1. I did. and after what looks like fixing trillions of lines/files/etc...and rebooting everything like normal its all back to life. now I just need to spot check it all some more. but on the surface its looking promising.
