  1. 6.12.4 to 6.12.6 on both servers, no issues.
  2. Which file in the diagnostics zip file has this info? I'm not finding it.
  3. My new server is much more robust, so it will preclear divers faster yes? So can I add precleared drives to any Unraid server, or is it linked to the one that precleared them?
  4. I have not altered the removed drive... any value to reinstalling, letting it run and if it still come up the same, capturing diagnostics then? For now I'm going to let the long smart test run but LMK with regard to the above idea.
  5. As title says. Pulled the offending disk and put it in my main computer, and passes short smart test. This failed at 10% on the Unraid server. Running extended smart test now (24 hours to go). FWIW, Hard Disk Sentinel 6.10 PRO also says drive is 100% on Performance and Health. What would cause this? Could a bad cable from the LSI-9300-16i cause this?
  6. Ran the extended test, and it stopped at 10% with this: "Completed: read failure". Its a recertified drive with a 5 year warranty, so I can get it replaced - but is there a way to recoevr the daya ? Should I copy to another drive(s) on the array? Sadly its a 16GB, with 11-12 TB filled, so I'd need to split it if I copy it over or wait until a replacement arrives.
  7. As title said, I built a New Server - transferred all media (30TB) - added parity disk and ran initial parity set up - NOW one array disk showing read failure. Please look at my diagnostics file attached - I'd appreciate some educated input. Thank you. pluto-diagnostics-20231107-0729.zip

  9. Oddly, it works for my main server, but not my backup server. Both Unraid and Connect are the latest versions.
  10. Thanks - would you convert to H.265 before or after the move?
  11. Okay... so what is the best strategy to relocate just my media files to my new Unraid server. I will stipulate in advance: I am patient, and this doesn't have to happen fast IF using a slower transfer method is better/safer I would like to convert all videos to h.265 to reduce the files sizes should I do this before or after transfer?) I have a fair amount of Apple content so I assume I would have to account for that when converting to H.265 I have 32TB (8TBx4 of available storage now (plus a single 8TB parity drive), and I plan to preclear and add the drives from the Synology afterwards (10TBx5 plus 8TBx4, all IronWolf NAS). Its barebones, and other than some cache pools, I don't have anything I couldn't wipe and start over. Server: AMD 5600x CPU, 32GB DDR4, Dual M.2 dives for cache (plus drives specified above) Synology: only 1GS transfer rate on Synology (DS 916+ with 8GB RAM, plus DX 503 expansion chassis) What would you recommend?
  12. Mainly I'm think proximity of the internal USB port to the LSI-9300-16i. I'm working on mitigating its heat.
  13. No issue with heat inside the case vs outside?
  14. Been reading up on SMR drives (I will have 4x SMR 8TB Seagate drives in addition to the rest being Iron Wolf drives). I have a ton of movies / TV show sand music I will transfer from my soon to be retired Synology. It makes sense to me to pool those SMR drives for media storage specifically (since the task will be WORM). Anyone have a differing opinion? If so, what would you do differently?
  15. This caught my eye - why do you think it would be less reliable? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello everyone. I am looking for the above card and I am looking for one that is broken and not working. Why? Because I plan to takeoff the heat sink and figure out if there’s a practical way to use water cooling. If you have an old card, it’s not in working order I would like to acquire it or I will happily pay for shipping if you donate it to the cause of science! I’ve seen the bolt on fan options and while they seem effective, I feel compelled to look for a better solution. If you can help me out, please contact me.
