Unraid became unresponsive forcing unclean shutdown
It's in a USB 2.0 port so I might switch the drive. I watched the SI-1 video on unraid flash drives and he recommended Samsung Bar plus. I can only find 64gb for sale where I am. Is this size okay if I'm using the USB flash drive creator?

Unraid became unresponsive forcing unclean shutdown
Hi I installed a syslog server and the crash happened again a few days later. I've included the syslog file below but am not sure how to read it. Any idea what's causing the crashes? syslog-192.168.1.177.log syslog-192.168.1.177.log

[Support] selfhosters.net's Template Repository
Hi I just set up Monica CRM and am not receiving email reminders or verification emails. The SMTP settings are definitely working since email invitations work. I read online that you need a Cron job set up for email reminders but not sure how to do this inside a docker container. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Unraid became unresponsive forcing unclean shutdown
Hi. I woke up this morning to my unraid server being unresponsive. I couldn't reach it on my LAN so I plugged a monitor into the PC running unraid and was met with a blank screen. I felt I had no other option so pressed the power button to trigger an unclean shutdown. It's now back up and running but how can I go about discovering the cause of this problem? Happy to upload whatever logs might be useful in finding the problem. TIA

2 x NVME and 1 x SATA SSD
If i use the 3 devices i plan to have RAIDZ configurations so it should increase the capacity over using 2 drives mirrored but i'm not sure if this is wo.rth it considering the speed loss. I don't think the speed loss will be noticeable since i have a gigabit ethernet connection and only 2 VMs

2 x NVME and 1 x SATA SSD
Hi I'm running unraid 6.12 on my server with 2 x 8TB HDDs on the array and have 2 x 500gb NVME + 1 x 480gb SATA SSD spare but currently only have about 200gb worth of items stored as cache-only . I'm thinking of using the SSDs in either a single ZFS RAIDZ pool or otherwise have just a mirrored ZFS pool with the 2 NVME drives and not using the SATA SSD at all. My understanding is that including the slower SATA SSD in the ZFS pool as RAIDZ will mean that the speeds will be bottlenecked. Is it better to have a larger ZFS pool with >80% free space including the slower SATA SSD or a faster NVME ZFS pool that is approx 50% full? TIA

Unraid webui not working over tailscale
Thanks, worked immediately after adding tailscale interface. I watched the SpaceInvader One video on Unraid 6.12 and he didn't mention this change. That'll teach me to rely on youtube for info! I'll definitely read release notes from now on

Unraid webui not working over tailscale
Hi I'm running tailscale to help me connect to my unraid server remotely. When I connect remotely now, I can access all my docker containers as normal via their IP addresses but can't get access to the web UI using the root IP address. I used to be able to do this fine but it doesn't seem to work after upgrading to 6.12. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Setting up cache pool as overflow
No problems, thanks for the quick reply

Setting up cache pool as overflow
Hi I have 3 SSDs (2 x NVMe and 1 x 2.5 inch). I currently have the two NVMe set up in RAID1 as a pool and a seperate unprotected pool with the 2.5inch drive. Is it possible to have the unprotected pool used as an overflow for when the RAID1 pool for when it fills up? Thanks

Check if midnight commander copy operation was successful
Hi, I just run a copy operation thru an SSH terminal to my unraid server to copy 1tb of data from the array to an external drive (attached directly to unraid server). I woke up this morning and the terminal window had gone. Is there a log or something to check if the operation completed correctly? Thanks in advance

Mixing ECC and non-ECC ram
Hi My unraid PC currently has 2 x 8gb sticks of non ECC ram and i wish to run more VMs so am planning to add another 2 x 8gb sticks. If i buy the new sticks as ECC RAM, will they run in ECC mode or does all the RAM need to be ECC for this to work? Thanks

Loose drive cage
Double sided foam tape sounds like a good idea. This won't allow the drives to vibrate though?

Loose drive cage
I'm running unraid on a PC in a midtower case with 2 3.5 inch drives. The drives were installed sandwiched on top of each other in the included drive bays but they were getting hot during the SMART tests so I bought a generic 5 bay drive cage on eBay to separate them. Unfortunately the cage doesn't have screw holes that line up with my case so I can't fix it down, is it a problem to have the cage sitting loose at the base of my case? TIA

Drives getting hot during SMART extended test
Exactly what i was looking for, thanks. I was looking up 'drive enclosures' before and couldn't find them

Drives getting hot during SMART extended test
Ok thanks, any advice on how to mount the drives in the free space of my case? There are only two 3.5 inch bays on top of each other at the bottom of the case. Can i just leave one hanging free within the free space of the case?

Drives getting hot during SMART extended test
Hi unraid newbie here. I just ran an extended SMART test on my two seagate ironwolf 8TB drives sitting in the basement drive cage of an MSI mag 112R case. The drives ran at about 50 degrees for the entire 10 hours so it seems like they can't remain in their current position. The problem is that the case only has 2 x 3.5 bays both sandwiched on top of each other at the bottom of the case. I don't have a graphics card so there is still a fair bit of space, is there another way to mount drives not using the drive cage? Or does it not matter that they became hot during the SMART test, since the test is designed to stress the drives? Thanks in advance

Unraid on mini PC with e-sata drives
So if I have a mini PC and am looking for the easiest way to expand storage while keeping the same PC and ideally similar performance, then I should look at installing an SAS HBA card and then having a SAS to 4 X e-SATA cables extending to an external drive enclosure. Does this make sense or is it crazy? Also how would these external drives be powered? Thanks

Unraid on mini PC with e-sata drives
Yes but is internal drives attached directly to the motherboard somehow superior to attaching external drives via esata?

Unraid on mini PC with e-sata drives
Hi, is it possible to use unraid on a mini PC with external esata drives or is this not recommended? I don't have space for a full tower in my apartment and prefer the low power usage of a mini PC. TIA
