  1. The process is the same as V4 I believe, perhaps with some changed options. Check the preclear thread, perhaps there is a wiki entry with recommended settings.
  2. Nope, no pre-clear...yea, I know that means I'm foolish . I ran those steps, but before the final parity check I also added a new 2TB drive to the array and expanded it. That add is on-going...but I did check the replaced drive before adding the new one and the data rebuilt properly.
  3. I just replaced a 750G with a 2TB yesterday and it looks good. Adding a new 2TB drive to the array today...looks good so far.
  4. True that. I'm just wondering if the SM boards are worth it for remote management alone. That's really the only delta I see with the workstation class Z77s which also have broader CPU support. But on topic, at least with newegg being out of stock, there is some chance that they will be restocked with boards that have v2 firmware
  5. Just a note, the current SM board is out of stock on Newegg and not up for pre-order...no indication of restock date....they could be about to put a new version out in the wild as the previous poster stated.
  6. Fantastic, the Supermicro is out of stock at newegg, can't even pre-order...have to "autonotify" I hope that doesn't mean it is going away.
  7. Not a big deal, but the Util to view the log file refreshes so often you can't actually read the file. It looks like it is on a 1 second refresh by default
  8. Really? Showing as $320 on newegg. Perhaps that's retail and they are cheeper on ebay?
  9. My current box was built in 2007, and is starting to reach the end of it's life....given that it is BIOS based and can't go over 2TB drives...and is limited to 10 2TB disks which are now full...it's time for an upgrade. I've been looking around, and it seems that we are in a transition phase...MB/CPU/RAM compatability is in high flux, so I wanted to make sure that the MB I chose would work with the CPU: MB: SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCM-F-O Micro ATX Server Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz LGA 1155 Dual-Core Desktop Processor RAM: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Server Memory Model KVR1333D3E9SK2/8G Most of this was taken from the prototype builds at Green-leaf..to which I thank them most humbly! I'm concerned because the SM site says to check the CPU compatibility chart (which I can't find anywhere) and warns against CPUs with built on video. I could go with a 1240 or something, but that's a huge cost hit when an i3 would likely more than meet my needs (coming from a 6 year old Celron with one core!) I'm going to pair this with the 4220 Noroco and 2xSUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 PCI Express x4 SAS RAID Controller if that matters. Any input would be great! Uses: Common python scripts (CP, SB, Sab), standard media server (no virtual stuff etc)
  10. Innnnnteresting, apparently the plugin arch in 5.0 can error in such a way that it prevents the box from finishing a boot. Not an ideal situation . I'll try the plugins one by one and see if any of them cause errors that way so I can track down WHY a plugin could mess up smb and emhttpd.
  11. As I was on rc3, I was only using v5 plg's. Those are working fine, it's is emhttp that isn't working. SABnzbd: jlang-mbp:~ tybio$ telnet 192.168.1.2 8082 Trying 192.168.1.2... Connected to 192.168.1.2. Escape character is '^]'. GET / HTTP/1.1 400 Content-Length: 22 Content-Type: text/plain Malformed Request-LineConnection closed by foreign host. <Expected with GET /> UNraid web UI: jlang-mbp:~ tybio$ telnet 192.168.1.2 80 Trying 192.168.1.2... telnet: connect to address 192.168.1.2: Connection refused telnet: Unable to connect to remote host jlang-mbp:~ tybio$
  12. So I upgraded to rc5, and when I rebooted I got some VERY strange results. My plugins are processed, and running...I can get to SAB, and Couchpotato...but samba doesn't seem to be running and the unraid web interface isn't running. I'm not a novice user...but I'm more than a little lost right now. Attached syslog, anyone got any ideas? PS: I'm not frantic because I can see all my data when I log in and check the /mnt/ directory...so it looks like it's just a smb/emhttp issue....it would be nice to USE my media however syslog.txt
  13. Trying to brain out the request, I think it has more to do with the array being unprotected during the data rebuild rather than offline (At least, it isn't offline...so that shouldn't be the request). It does make sense to be able to point at a new drive and say "Use this to replace that" and copy the data over while maintaining the parity to deal with a failure during the rebuild. Sounds complex to me, but in theory I can see how it could work.
  14. The only item I really need shared is "Watched" shows...with Eden I installed Trakt and have been VERY pleased with the results. As a side benefit I've now got a nice link to my media online . http://trakt.tv/user/Tybio
  15. That fixes the problem, but I have the same issue..after a "Fix Permissions" anything newly created I get permission denied on.
  16. You can mount the default FS in Windows and OS X with little effort, there are drivers out there. I would think it highly unlikely that Tom will support NTFS as a member of the protected array. Example: http://yareg.akucom.de/
  17. It helps when you start doing things like upgrading disks and when you use the SAB/SB/CP setup to automatically download and copy content onto the array. Trying to manage all that by hand would be a bit of a pain. If you are only adding content you grab yourself, then it is totally workable to manage the disks yourself.
  18. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148413&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-22-148-413-_-Product
  19. Good catch, I've updated it all to reference /boot/packages. Obviously we will need to revisit this when unRAID 5.0 goes final, but for now, it will at least make sense for 4.7.
  20. That's the thing, it shouldn't create files that already exist on another share...as far as I know it should replace them on the existing share. I think I'm missing something obvious here, so perhaps one of the more frequent posters will have a better idea.
  21. Interesting, Does the YAMJ config point to disk shares, or to the user shares?
  22. That's a good point, I don't use it because it is only accessable from my home network anyway. I don't think we should gear the wiki entry to deal with every possible solution, perhaps enabling SSL could be under the advanced topics section?
  23. I have XMBC on my desktop and use a User share so I only have to mount one point in XMBC. That might be tricky if all of your stuff is in the root directory tho.
  24. The problem with doing it there is that it is hidden, and the setting in the UI for the tools becomes pointless. I think it might be confusing for people who try to change the port via the UI and have it never take effect. Also, I'm not sure how that would deal with DHCP implementations, what does it do if the address changes? IMHO, the install at the OS level should be as light as possible, leaving the configuration of the tool to it's internal configuration setup.
