  1. Hello everyone. I am relatively new to unraid so apologies if this question is answered elsewhere. I'm looking for something along the lines of the above that simply shows how much array usage is being taken over time to show relative changes in storage. I do a lot of adding and purging files and am curious how much I've gotten rid of after a given deletion session. Is there any plugin or addon or something I can use for this? Thanks in advance.
  2. Can someone please explain how exclude actually works? I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. EDIT: Problem solved. I was trying to exclude like this: /mnt/cache/appdata/[program] but it has to be like this: /mnt/user/appdata/[program]
  3. Sorry, I probably didnt explain it well. Here's a diagram to make it simpler: day 1 test: day 2 test (today): hope my crummy diagram helps explain what I mean. the problem is following "sata cable splitout plug 2" of the left port only, no matter which cable I use
  4. Hi everyone. I received the replacement cable today. I installed it, and got a bizarre result. 3 drives spin up out of 4 with the new cable, same as the old cable. I go and check which one doesn't spin up and then go check the cable. The cables come labeled (P1 P2 P3 P4). The old cable problem child was P2. And the problem cable on the new one is also P2. Now I'm starting to wonder if there is another issue, maybe either with my bios or with my SAS card? I am using 9800-8I LSI card, is it possible that it's faulty somehow making it unable to read one out of the 4 splitter SATA plugs? Would love to hear any and all ideas, as I'm a noob. EDIT: As my LSI card is the 9800-8i with two SAS out ports, I swapped the two SAS cards and now all 4 drives appear. I should have tried this originally. Since I have 6 drives, the cable I swapped to the port that hadn't shown all 4 previously only had P1 and P3 plugged in, and both of those drives also showed up. I just tried plugging in P2 and P4 in place of P1 and P3, and lo and behold, once again P2 does not get recognized. So to put it simply, my LSI card has two SAS out ports, and the leftside SAS out seems to not accept the P2 split of my 4 way SAS <> SATA split out. Does this mean I need a new LSI card, or could it be a software issue?
  5. Hi everyone, I have an LSI 9300 8i with two SAS ports plugged into my PCIE port. I'm using this cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C2PXGJL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I plugged the cable into 4 drives and one of them would not recognize in unraid. I tried swapping one of the functinoing cables and the one that wasn't working, and the one that was previously missing appeared and the one that I swapped disappeared. Ultimately, I used a sata cable straight to the motherboard for the last drive as a stopgap. I initiated a return on amazon, but I wanted to know from the experts, how common/likely is it that a single sata plug on my 4x sata splitter is broken while the other 3 work? It seems odd to me.
  6. dang, I installed this per guide: https://docs.coolercontrol.org/installation/unraid.html but only my cpu fan showed up. case fans and other sys fans are nada even with the added driver downloads
  7. this is an awesome plugin. would be cool to see temp on dashboard.
  8. thank you for this. I ended up moving the drive to slot 3 and updating my bios. if that does not fix, I will then try this next. Appreciate it!
  9. I had MSI fast off, but normal fast boot on. MSI motherboard (z890-a pro). I just turned off normal fast boot too. Hopefully that's a fix.
  10. Just occurred again in the last hour or so. Posting diagnostic here. By my count there was roughly a 40 hour interval from fresh boot to drive falling out, which is similar to the interval the first time it happened. Note that I did not add "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off" to boot yet. geofront-diagnostics-20260121-1745.zip Not sure if I'm looking in the right place but in syslog I see this: Jan 21 17:33:57 GeoFront kernel: nvme nvme0: I/O tag 22 (f016) opcode 0xa (Admin Cmd) QID 0 timeout, reset controller Jan 21 17:35:28 GeoFront kernel: nvme nvme0: Device not ready; aborting reset, CSTS=0x1 ### [PREVIOUS LINE REPEATED 1 TIMES] ### Jan 21 17:36:00 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 1023ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:36:01 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 2047ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:36:03 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 4095ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:36:07 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 8191ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:36:16 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 16383ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:36:33 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 32767ms after FLR; waiting Jan 21 17:37:09 GeoFront kernel: nvme 0000:01:00.0: not ready 65535ms after FLR; giving up Jan 21 17:37:09 GeoFront kernel: nvme nvme0: Disabling device after reset failure: -25 Jan 21 17:45:29 GeoFront kernel: block nvme0n1: the capability attribute has been deprecated. 11. This is helpful. I have a 970 Evo Plus with firmware "2B2QEXM7" as evidenced here: vs the latest firmware on samsung site as "4B2QEXM7" (difference is 2b vs 4b only it seems) as evidenced here: \ I downloaded that 4B2QEXM7 firmware. When I follow OP steps, I get this: Your post explains it. It's also explained in this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/ut6asc/samsung_ssd_firmware_how_to_update/ Unfortunately for me, the reason I went hunting for this is because my samsung 970 EVO plus seems to randomly shut off in my array. I have to hard shut down and cold boot to get it back (even reboot doesnt get it back). I was hoping firmware update would resolve this. Now I have no clue.
  12. Hello all, I am brand new to unraid, built a nas just for this purpose. I got two drives for this nas, one is a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus and one is a 2TB SK Hynix Gold P31. I have the Samsung in slot M_1 and Hynix in slot M_2. They are both recognized by unraid and successfully added to cache pool in zfs mirror with the array started. I am doing a preclear of my drives, so I haven't fully spun everything up yet. However, I noticed that after a couple of days, the Samsung drive became unresponsive on the main dashboard. It had no temperature details and upon further investigation was basically unconnectable. I rebooted and nothing was resolved. I saw a post saying they had similar issues and had to full shut down, then start from cold and this resolved it. I googled around and found these threads: https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/comments/1pfqubu/my_nvme_drives_randomly_get_unrecognized_after_a/ https://forums.unraid.net/topic/187748-4tb-samsung-990-pro-nvme-cache-drive-multiple-drive-failures/ https://forums.unraid.net/topic/132024-guide-how-to-upgrade-samsung-nvmessd-firmware/ Basically saying with these drives there is some firmware update. So I went thru this process detailed above of updating the firmware, but long story short it seems that my drive doesn't have any new firmware per this link: https://arstechnica.com/civis/threads/is-anyone-else-having-issues-when-trying-to-update-their-samsung-970-evo-plus.1481103/ So I'm back to square one. I am trying to understand if anyone else has had this issue with a samsung 970 evo plus drive dropping out of their array randomly and if there is any other fix aside from updating firmware since mine won't let me update. I saw these threads: https://forums.unraid.net/bug-reports/stable-releases/nvme-dropping-offline-constantly-r4181/ https://forums.unraid.net/topic/164041-does-your-device-have-a-faulty-power-saving-mode-enabled-nvme-issues/ which recommends "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off" to bzroot. I have not tried this yet.
  13. Hi everyone, I just built a desktop pc server and installed unraid via usb. This is my first time using unraid. I've got a 64GB Samsung BAR Plus 64GB (the smallest size they sell now). I booted into it, created root password, got to dashboard, got a trial license. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPGF6N3?th=1 It is plugged into a USB 2.0 slot on the front of my case. I've also got 2 SSD in the pc to begin with, but haven't done anything yet. I haven't even started the array. I put them in a cache zfs pool but did not hit start because I noticed this error and want to address it before I do anything. Anyway, every page I go to, this banner appears saying my flash drive is corrupted. What's going on here? anyone have advice? I literally just set up this pc and this usb is brand new from Amazon. I've attached the diagnostic. Please go easy on me as I'm a noob who has no clue whats going on. A couple things I tried based on googling: 1) Plugged usb into windows. Drive is correctly titled "UNRAID" 2) Ran checkdisk. no errors found and it took less than 1 second to run as the volume is empty aside from unraid Edit: After rebooting unraid, I haven't noticed this problem. All good! Thanks in advance. geofront-diagnostics-20260117-0430.zip
