  1. If you place all the drives in the same order you won't lose any data. Double check all the drive serial numbers when you first start the array. Make sure there in the right place an hit start. You should be just fine.
  2. I wouldn't say you would be missing out on something. There are some additional plugins you can run on v5RC's. it also offers support for 3TB+ Hard drive support. There is a small hard to find bug in 4.7 that can cause issues when your doing a parity check and writing data to the array. I don't understand the whole thing but I just didn't copy data while doing a parity check. If your data is important stay on 4.7 till 5 final comes out. It is unlikely that you would loose data on the RC's but it is possible.
  3. If your running vista ( I think it's available in vista) or win 7-8 you can open the control panel and open the credentials manager. You can add a credential for your server with a log in and password. You can use your servers ip or its name. Mine is set to the servers name. IE "\tower" I find this especially useful if your server login is different then your windows login. Or if your win login doesn't have a password this will fix that as well.
  4. Can you ping your unraid box from the windows machine? If no then double check your network settings. If you get a ping response back then I would clear the cache of your browser and check that spyware hasn't got in and create or changed your proxy settings in Internet options. Also what about typing http://yourtowername
  5. If your on a windows machine you can use http://codesector.com/teracopy and there is an option for CRC comparison. Teracopy is very convenient for large file transfers.
  6. Well that's too bad. I was just on there a few days ago. I also was a premium member with 2 months left on my account. Oh well, guess ill have to find another site.
  7. Log into unmenu and click on pkg manager. Select the airvideo package. One of the the options at the bottom under configurable variable is a password box. By default it's set at 12345. But you can change it. If you do change it don't forget to click the reinstall button and the reinstall on reboot.
  8. One of the mods may be able to give you better advice. Can you telnet via putty into unraid? It may be the GUI has crashed. In which case a hard reset might be your only option. I would wait to see if someone else has a thought first. It may be that the preclear script didn't finish correctly and the array is formatting the drive. In which case depending on the size it may take a while. Though the manaent page should come up and say the drive was currently being reformatted.
  9. From my understanding preclear will place an I'd string on the drive after all it's test, that tell unraid the drive is ready to go. This tells unraid it doesn't have to format the drive when added to the array. Saving all the down time from the array being down while adding a disk. Ian be wrong on this but from what I can remember you will still experience some down time while the drive is added to the array. But it shouldn't be too long. I think when I last added a drive my array was back up and running within 10 minutes max. If your array has been unresponsive for longer then I'd said post a syslog and someone with more experience will need to take a look at it.
  10. I experienced a similar issue long ago with one of my older server boards. The onboard Nic wasn't entirely compatible with unraid. The web GUI and telnet sessions let me manage my page but as soon as I started a file transfer everything froze. I didn't have a catastrophic network failure with other components like you did. If you have had a stable system for a while I would bet your Nic is failing. If its a new system then I would say your Nic might not be compatible.
  11. When I originally had the issue on RC8a I removed simple features and all of my plugins. I continued to have the transport endpoint error. Since then I have gone to RC3. I have not had the same problem on RC3. So tomorrow I will mark this topic as solved. When 5 final comes out I will restart this topic as a bug if I have it again then. Thanks for all the help!! I really appreciate it.
  12. I have 4GB of ram. The only plugin that I'm actively running is simple features. That should be enough ram for that right? Under simple features, how much ram is being reported? Simple features is reporting a total of 4GB as well. 2x 2GB sticks of single bit ECC ram. PS: I do have simple features "folder caching" option on. Maybe thhats chewing up my ram. It may also be from the fact that all of my drives are extremely full. I have a new 2TB that I am pre-clearing now. Once that's in I will migrate some of the data off my other drives to get them below 98% full. I know that being that full hinders unraids performance.

  14. So I changed my split level to 999 like you suggested and tried another large file transfer. I received the same error again. I downgraded my server back to RC3 and the problem went away. Still don't know what was the cause of the issue though. I also don't know if I should mark this issue as SOLVED when it may be a bug. Advice?
  15. Well I'm not at home right now, but I can go check that. I haven't had any problems like this so far with unRaid. I have been thinking of going back to a previous version to see if that changes the Transport error. When I get home I will set my split level to 999. I don't care what drive the files go on, so leaving the split level blank seemed to make that work. Thanks for the idea. I let you know.
  16. Right now I'm testing the issues with a group of 1.5GB tv show episodes. In total I'm transferring 246GB. Each of my drives has between 60 and 133GB free. The share I'm transferring the files to is my media share. It's allocation method is high water. The min. Free space is set at 50GB. Split level is blank. Included disk All. Excluded disk is NONE.
  17. Hey fellow Unraiders. I recently upgraded my Unraid from RC5 8a to 5.0-rc6-r8168-test and Im having a bit of an issue. Whenever I start a large file transfer in windows using either Windows Copy or Terracopy, part way through unriad unmounts all of my drive shares. I can still access the web gui and everthing looks ok but when I look at my syslog I get a ton of "Transport endpoint is not connected" messages. I have 11WD 2TB data disks all around 90+ percent full. When I do small transfers usually under 20GB it will complete. I have attached my syslog containing the error at the bottom. I have tried to stop the array and bring it back up but the shares wont reconnect. If I restart the server everything works fine until I start another transfer. Could someone give a bit of insight. I'm not very fluent with Linux issues and when I searched the forums the only issues I could find were for pre 4.7 versions of unraid . Unraid_Syslog_10-15-2012.txt
  18. I have 2 Antec 1200 v2 cases and an Antec 900 case. I haven't had any problems like the ones your mentioning. The build quality has been very good. I do know that the thumb screws on the back of one of my cases is difficult to get in, but I think I lost the original screws and I had to use a different screw. Just my 2cents.
