  1. This will likely not happen. The first release of unRAID 6.0 is likely to be Slackware64 based and follow the current appliance model. Frankly, while all this talk about a full distro is exciting and I would like to see it happen, it should be a different category all together.

  4. I only shut down when needed. I have 2 boxes and they were up near 6 months before we had a power outage of about an hour last week.
  5. I loath remotes on phones/touch devices. They can be convenient and I use one for XBMC every once in a while but I much much much prefer my logitech harmony remote.
  6. There are no cases I know of that do not need modification to accept 5-in-3 cages. 4-in-3 cages will fit fine, but 5-in-3 will not.
  7. Thanks for the fix. Does anyone else find it redundant to have the execute on the end?
  8. Thats cool. In all honesty, without rekindling the flame war, integrating this with the upcoming 64-bit edition of UNRaid along with maybe the kernel not so neutered down with KVM/QEMU support, UNRaid would be a killer NAS solution without deviating too much from the appliance methodology. Correct. Some like and prefer the "appliance" approach that has existed for a very long time. I am one of those. Some like and prefer the I have everything at my finger tips. This is all fine and dandy, different strokes for different folks.

  10. I currently run plugins for some of my things on unRAID, but this is all within an ESXi box. Assuming docker gets added/supported I would probably move away from using the plugins and to using docker containers. It will not replace my ESXi setup as I do other things with it, but I could see it replacing my use of some plugins. I prefer the ESXi approach to virtualization as opposed to that being proposed with KVM/Xen. I think KVM/Xen has it merits but I would not use it for the XBMC stuff that proponents of it like to push. To each there own.
  11. All understandable, but I am stuck in modifying my OT's. I keep track of changes and update accordingly to make sure people have always the recent and correct info/PLG version. Any chance in getting that restored ? We will look into it. I don't know how fin grained the controls are but we will see if the ability to modify a post/thread can be enabled separately from the ability to delete it entirely.

  13. The change was made so that the deletion of entire threads is no longer possible. Deleting ones own posts are fine but the side effect of deleting the thread was that every conversation/post within that thread was also gone. We felt that that particular thing should not happen.
  14. The mods did not remove it, it was likely removed by ironic. He did not move it to the bilge so it is gone, unless Tom brings it back from a backup. Agreed

  16. Yes, kind of you will need to change the file names, MD5 sum and the version check at the end of the .conf file.
  17. Opps, sorry that would be $70 per cage. Made an edit in the original post to reflect that.
  18. Not that i know of... besides editing the plugin to install the version you want it to.
  19. Not sure if anyone has seen this case as of yet but it looks like an interesting option for those that want something HP microserver like but want to build it themselves. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1371-page3.html
  20. Up for sale are 3 Icy Dock cages. They were in a build a friend had and used for about 6 months. He moved to a Norco case and no longer needed these so he gave them to me to get rid of. So far as I know they have never given him any troubles. These currently sell for ~$80 after rebate. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817994155) I am looking for $70 per cage shipped and you never have to worry about dealing with the rebate process. If you want all 3 then $200 for the lot of them.
  21. Up for grabs is the above menitoned board. It was hardly used (about 1 hour total). I built the machine using this board, then decided I wanted something totally fanless and the case I wanted to use did not support the Zotac board so I ended up taking the computer apart and waiting for the new board and case to show up. If your looking to build a small and quite HTPC or small desktop this is a very good board choice. Looking for $80 shipped in the lower 48 http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-h67-wifi-h67itx-a-e.html
  22. As I said already, curl is now included in the main unRAID release. The check that is being done in the curl package is finding that curl is installed and then not installing a new version. That in and of itself is fine, but the check in the Transmission package is probably not quite correct, hence the reason you got the errors. I will point out that there is a plugin available for the unRAID 5.0 system... why are you not using that instead of the unMenu package?
  23. curl is now installed by default if i remember correctly. I have not test this on 5.0.4 and probably will not get a chance to.
  24. Well, it sounds like you want a board with IPMI, or the equivalent from other manufacturers (intel has one I know, and HP does I think). Something like the Supermicro board we use in our builds would work just fine. I prefer the Supermicro X9SCM-iiF, and then adding in whatever processor best fits your needs and the RAM for the new board.
