  1. ditto... I was not sure what to do with myself
  2. correct. unRAID is a parity protected JBOD and the User Shares are just showing a combination of the disks. You need 42GB of free space on a single disk to copy that file to it. Each disk has its own file system and therefore no stripping happens.
  3. Set the min free space for the share to something around the size of the largest image you will be copying to it.
  4. look in the any of my unMenu packages (SAB, SickBeard, Couchpotato, etc) Look for the "su nobody -c" line in the .conf file.
  5. That was with the Hitachi external, not the Seagate. I popped open my 3TB goflex desktop and if I remember correctly the bare drive was listed as having a 2 or 3 year warranty.
  6. um... go to said thread and use the the search box. Whatever thread/forum you are currently in is where it will search.
  7. It should be possible, though I do not know how to do it off hand. You are going to have to mount server 2's media directory into server 1's media directory. Do a search on the forum and see what you come up with.
  8. Then you should be fine with 5.0b14
  9. Without knowing the complete hardware list it is a little difficult to give a suggestion. If you are running 2 of the SASLP cards you should be fine with running the latest beta (5.0b14). The SATA controllers that have issues in 5.0b14 are LSI based ones, not yours.

  11. I grabbed a couple of Seagate GoFlex Desktop 3TB drives a while back. I popped the case off of them and checked the serial on them via Seagates online tool and if I remember correctly there was a 3 year warranty on them.
  12. Do not run 'new perms', the reason it breaks the SAB stuff is because it does not expect anything on the server to be executable so does not set that bit.
  13. I do not suggest trying this. If is probably possible... but not recommended. Build the unRAID server, and buy an AMD fusion based HTPC. Much more simple and safe for the data.
  14. Yes, I'm using 5.0b12. Enable autostart under disksetting is Yes. disable, save, reboot, enable, save, reboot
  15. config folder on the flash drive. Do a search of the forum to figure out what needs to be done in the go file.
  16. I run an old socket 775 Q9300 in my ESXi server and I have not had any issues with my setup as of yet either. I think you will be quite happy with the 1240
  17. I have 3 different boxes running 3 different 5.0beta version right now. My main production machine is running 5.0b6a (but will probably be getting an upgrade soonish to support 3TB drives), I have a Crashplan dedicated machine I am setting up this week which will be running 5.0b14, and I have a physical dev/test machine running 5.0b12a. I have 2 virtual box VM's one that runs 4.7 and the other is running 5.0b14. Both of the VM's are used for unMenu package testing purposes at the start and then the testing is moved to the physical dev/test machine. I do not think you will find any issues in running a beta, but even then you could run unRAID 4.7 without issue (so long as you do not need 3TB drive support).

  19. 5.0b14 is stable for most, and with the hardware you listed you should be fine. I have run a number of different version of unRAID and save for a couple they have been stable. At this point 5.0 is waiting for a stable Linux kernel with some fixes for LSI controllers and the like. You did not list any of those parts above so your hardware should work just fine.
  20. There is not a lot to explain really. The reason I did not bother with ssh is because this will only run when I connected to my home network. Location X (or similar app you want to use) will determine that. You basically need to copy and paste the above applescript text into AppleScript Editor and save it. Once that is done you can just run it or automate it with Location X or similar.
  21. That is a hell of a box!! At this point it is all built... why sell it? and go to something like a Syno?
  22. The unMenu packages will also work under the 5.0bX stuff.
  23. I feel like you ask this question every other week... if in slightly different ways. The short answer is no one on these forums works for Lime Tech and therefore has no real idea of when 5.0 will be coming out. From everything that I have been able to gather from post on the forum and general searching around the hold up is mainly with the Linux kernel at this point. LSI controllers are broken for sure, and there may be some issues with NFS. Both those are out of the control of Lime Tech so it is a wait and see game for them also. Tom is usually on top of these issues, but these things do take time, that is just the nature of the beast.
