  1. Well, yeah.. But in the end it only hurts the community and it already has. Echel0n has closed the issue tracker on the original repo so ton of information is now gone.. Just 404.. And that was a lot of good info for users having problems. Then he banned all the web irc users.. And then ALL users was kicked.. AND he closed the forum, "under maintenance" (I just hope he doesn't delete everything) .. So no support at all for that repo now. Just the actions that he have done made me make the change to the new repo. I don't know how old Echel0n is but I would say he's really acting like a 4 year old..
  2. So did you guys catch the latest SickRage news yet? The hole SR team/staff has been fired or should I say the team/staff fired the original developer.. The original developer who is just back after being away for 14 months has this to say: The team/staff who has been maintaining SR for a long time answered with this: http://pastie.org/private/m7lryrqqihyeyl1supuepq
  3. So I upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1 and now unmenu won't work properly, I get this: 09:56:18 Tower unmenu[14551]: sh: /root/mdcmd: No such file or directory How do I fix this? I like having both Dynamix and unmenu.
  4. The drive is just a year old. Well, technically I have a spare, I have 2 drives in the array without any data on it, so I could just shrink the array and keep one as a spare. I have lots of space anyway so, but yeah thanks for your reply, I will mark this as solved now.
  5. So I got an mail from my unraid box yesterday that disk 3 has 2 pending sectors.. As I understand this is something that has to be fixed, no matter how low the number is. Do I have to pre-clear it first or can I just re-enable the drive like it says in the wiki? I don't have a spare at the moment, so I'm wondering what is the best and fastest way to solve this. Should I just buy a spare, replace and pre-clear the original and have it as a spare or should I re-enable the drive and rebuild, or take the drive offline pre-clear it and then re-enable and rebuild?
  6. *Facepalm* You're totally right,working now!
  7. First time I'm trying docker, but I can't get it to start. I created a cache only share "appdata" and trying to start docker, but I get this from the syslog: Sep 14 20:26:17 Tower php: /etc/rc.d/rc.docker start Sep 14 20:26:17 Tower php: /var/lib/docker is not a mountpoint Sep 14 20:26:17 Tower php: Creating new image file for Docker: /mnt/cache/appdata/docker.img size: G Sep 14 20:26:17 Tower php: Not starting Docker: failed to create image file Anyone know how to fix this?
  8. Yeah, you're probably right. The files I was moving were only just over 1 gig so they got transferred pretty fast. I was trying with a lager file now (17GB) and the speed was 70-90MBps til it came to about 4,5GB in then it dropped to 30ish MBps from 4,5-7GB and then up again to 70-90MBps from 7-12GB, down to 30ish from 12-14GB,up to 70-90 again from 14-17GB. It was some low points though, down to 12 MBps at one point, but that was briefly. So the speed was really all over the place on a large file transfer. But hey on average it's way better than the speed I got on 5.0.5, so I'm not complaining.
  9. I have a cache drive yes, but not using it at the moment or in this test. In 5.0.5 I was using a SSD cache drive, but had issues with low speed after the disk(s) were spun down and spinning up again for the write, causing a "disk overload" in utorrent due to it wasn't able to write fast enough to the disk, resulting in low download speed. (don't know why this was happening). So I stopped using it and started downloading to my windows box instead and moving the files to my unraid server on an daily basis. And still doing so as of this moment, but I'm intrigued to try my cache disk again just to test the speed. But yeah, to the point, my setup is: 12x WD Red 4TB NAS (11 data disks and 1 parity) Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB as a cache drive (which I'm not using at the moment, but I'm going to start using this for dockers) Motherboard: ASUS Z97-DELUXE CPU: Intel Core i3-4360 RAM: 16GB Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600 Mhz RAID/SATA controller: ADAPTEC RAID 71605E Is nobody else experiencing improved write speed in beta8? And most importantly what are the changes in the beta allowing this speed? I think it's important to know so it doesn't change in later releases, because I'm loving this.. Is it just the move from 32 to 64bit? Better drivers? I really don't have a clue, but I'd like to know. It can't be just the hardware, because I wasn't experiencing this in 5.0.5. Ps: Sorry if my grammar is bad, english isn't my native language.
  10. First time I'm writing to my unraid box since upgrading to v6 beta8, and I'm seeing this amazing speed improvements. With 5.0.5 I was getting around 30-40 MBps average and now with beta8 I'm seeing average speeds in the 60-80 MBps peaking at 101 MBps, and this is with parity! It's rarely going under 40 MBps now. Anybody else seeing this? I haven't seen anybody mention it in the general support section for v6, apart from a thread on speed improvements in parity checks. What changed in the beta allowing this kind of speed? I'm moving files from my windows box to unraid so I have not tried copying/moving files between disks/shares in unraid yet, I rarely do that anyway so.
  11. Hmm.. yeah I think I remember reading something about that. I will try adjusting the timing first, if that doesn't work I'm testing v6.0 beta 7, I want this to work so.
  12. I have 16GB RAM and 11 data disks, disk 7-11 are empty at the moment tho. find /mnt/disk* | wc -l gave me and output of 211745 files (looks like that's not the problem, or is it..?). Maybe I should try adjusting the timing and see if that works, and by timing I assume you mean the -m -M arguments? Is there a limit or do any number work? I really have no idea what to try, so I guess I'll just start playing with it.
  13. Yeah, I know but like I said I disabled the plugin and downloaded the script from the first post in this tread, ran it but it still keep spinning my disks up after a while. Any idea what is wrong? Edit: I should mention when this happens I'm not doing anything, not browsing any directories or accsessing any data.
  14. So I've been trying to get this script to work, and it does, for a while.. The thing is every 2 - 2,5 hrs the script seem to start with a new process ID (maybe it's supposed to do this..?) causing first most of, then all my drives to spin up. I started using unRAID just a few days ago so I'm totally new to this but I thought the script was just supposed to start once, then just loop and sleep not start a new process after a while. The script is working fine for a while tho (I would say at least half a day), before this starts and I don't know why it happens. First I tried the cache_dirs plugin but that didn't work at all, the script would run but once I started browsing the directories the disks would spin up, and I think the same thing happend after a while, were all the disk would spin up after 2 hrs.. Then I disabled the plugin, downloaded the script from here and just started it with cache_dirs -w and it worked!! The disks would not spin up when I was browsing my directories. and I was happy. Then I learned today that after a while all my disk would spin up again. When I quit cache_dirs all returns to normal. How do I fix it? Maybe it's because I have the plugin installed, would that screw it up? It's disabled but maybe I have to delete it form the plugin folder also? I'm running unRAID 5.0.5 btw. Syslog attached. As you can see from the syslog everything is fine from around 07:00 to 19:19 when disks start spinning up again. And I manually spin down all the disk at 22:25,23:53, killling cache_dir at Aug 25 00:50 and spinning down all the disk for the last time. syslog-2014-08-25.txt
  15. Okey, I'll try that. Edit: Worked like a charm, thanks!
  16. I have a small problem moving files between user shares. First let me tell you how I set it up, I have only one share with all my data in. So My share looks like this: \share\Downloads\ \share\Movies\Avatar\Avatar.mkv \share\Tv shows\The folowing\Season 1\s01e01.mkv I have set split level 3, this was working fine when i started copying all my data over to the unRAID server. All my shows got spread over all disk but any given show stayed inside 1 disk with all the seasons. All I really care about is that all the seasons in a tv show stays within 1 disk, the rest can go wherever. But the problem starts when i download new episodes to share\Downloads and try to move them to \share\Tv shows\ Say the show "The Following" is on disk4\share\Tv shows\The following\Season 1\ when i try to move a new file from share\Downloads to share\Tv shows\The following\Season 1 The file does not appear on disk4 where the rest of the show is but on a diffrent disk, say disk5\share\Tv shows\The following\Season 1\ which is probably the same disk where the file was created in the first place, since I noticed the move was instantly. Is my split level wrong or how do I fix this? I don't want to look through all my disk to find the correct show when I'm moving files, I just want to use the user share and move from there. I've tried using both MC with putty and explorer in windows. I've tried searching but didn't find any answer so please help me. Edit: And I use high water allocation
