  1. Also in the UK at a similar price to Germany... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-ST8000VX0022-Skyhawk-Internal-2000-GB-88-9-mm/dp/B01LXGAE3P SR
  2. I can confirm the Dell H310 works just fine when flashed. I found mine for £20 on Ebay. SR
  3. Hi, Just a heads-up - after upgrading, all my shares were set to "Use Cache? - No". I only noticed this when the Mover failed to move anything. Is this expected behaviour? SR
  4. As far as I know, the HP Smart Array cards won't work with unRAID as they don't have a JBOD mode. Other users (including myself) have tried creating single-disk RAID 0 arrays but this hasn't worked. I'm not actually 100% that the required drivers are included in unRAID at this point. I think LT did add them at a user's request for testing some time ago, but they may have been removed. SR
  5. If you're extracting .rar files on a protected array drive, it will be slow as it needs to update parity as it goes along. With the files on a cache drive (SSD or otherwise) it should be pretty quick as there's no parity to consider. I've not used Krusader, I have Unrar installed as part of the NerdPack plugin and run it from the command line. SR
  6. For my VCP I'm running vSphere in VMWare Workstation on my desktop as it has more RAM than my unRAID box (can only get 16GB in a microserver unfortunately). It's simple to do, you just need to add a couple of lines to the VM .xml file before you kick it in for the first time. I'm not at home right now so can't give any more details, but a quick google should find them. I've got 2 ESXi hosts, a vCenter appliance and several Windows/Linux desktops running this way with no issues. SR
  7. No data limit that I'm aware of. I've currently got 12.6TB uploaded to Crashplan with no issues. SR
  8. Is there a link to a known issue or something? I can't see anything...
  9. I did this by: Stop the array Change Cache assignment to the SSD Start the array and format new Cache drive Mount the HDD with the Unassigned Devices plugin Copy the data across. If you have dockers/VMs running from the cache drive, it's probably best to disable the docker and VM Manager services until the data has been copied over. SR
  10. Hi, For the past couple of days I've been unable to delete correctly from the cache drive. The target file is deleted but replaced with another file called something like .fuse_hidden000d3ce800000003. This file can't be deleted and the only was to shift it is to restart the array. I'm running 6.1.9 and have been doing so without issue since its release, but this has just started. Any suggestions? Thanks, SR tower-diagnostics-20160517-1527.zip
  11. Personally, I always leave mine on. The server itself is running all the time anyway, and any difference in power consumption with an idle VM running is all but immeasurable. SR
  12. This error means that the script is using HTTP and not HTTPS, upon installation of the plugin, it should modify the script to use HTTPS... Do you have anything running that might 'restore' the script? Not that I know of. Running a few Dynamix plugins (System Stats, Local Master, Cache Dir, Active Streams), Powerdown, CA, UD. The only active dockers are Plex and Crashplan. SR
  13. I get... /usr/sbin/update-smart-drivedb: download from trunk failed (HTTP error) SR
  14. I've made a typo in the cron generation text. It is corrected in version 2016.04.04a. You need to re-apply settings to reflect the changes. Had to remove and reinstall the plugin as the update removed the tab from the Scheduler page. It's now just hanging at: Apr 4 13:35:16 Tower crond[1438]: exit status 1 from user root /usr/sbin/update-smart-drivedb 1>/dev/null 2>&1 SR
  15. Can we fix it instead? The underlying problem is pretty simple: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=47386.0 Debian got rid of it entirely due to "security concerns": https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=804299 I think this is something that is more properly added as a plugin, but open to other opinions. We'll see about refreshing that header file for each release. For the time being, I have created a separate plugin, which allows to set up a update schedule for the SMART database (it will make the necessary correction in the SMART script to do a correct update). The plugin can be installed by copying and pasting the URL below into the plugin manager. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bergware/dynamix/master/unRAIDv6/dynamix.smart.drivedb.plg Configuration of the plugin is under Settings -> Scheduler -> SMART DriveDB (by default no schedule is active) This doesn't work for me: Apr 4 12:10:01 Tower crond[1438]: exit status 1 from user root /usr/sbin/update-smart-drivedb 1>/dev/null 2>&1> Apr 4 12:10:01 Tower sSMTP[9506]: Creating SSL connection to host Apr 4 12:10:01 Tower sSMTP[9506]: SSL connection using ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 Apr 4 12:10:01 Tower sSMTP[9506]: Authorization failed (535 5.7.8 https://support.google.com/mail/answer/14257 ll9sm28582379wjc.29 - gsmtp)
  16. From personal experience... I've been using Crashplan for over a year now, backing up my entire server to their online service. I've currently got just over 10TB uploaded and haven't had any problems. It regularly uploads at the limit of my broadband connection (15Mb) and restricted to 6GB of RAM, which hasn't caused any problems. Back to the original question: I backup all the stored data on the server; movies, TV shows, the lot. As Danioj said, if it's worth storing, it's worth keeping. I also backup the AppData folder (real-time), my flash drive (after every change) and my VMs (Weekly). SR
  17. I haven't tried it myself, but others here have. From what I've read, it's pretty good although performance drops over Wi-Fi. As far as running in a VM goes, you'd need to pass through a discrete GPU to do the hardware encoding but as long as the unRAID box is capable you shouldn't have a problem. SR
  18. Hi, I think Steam In-Home Streaming could be what you're looking for... http://store.steampowered.com/streaming/ SR
  19. Finally resolved this by rolling back to 6.1.7 All fine since then. SR
  20. Well, I've rebuilt my VMs as OVMF but I'm still getting the same messages. Does anyone have any more suggestions? The only info I can find online is regarding the Raspberry Pi so probably isn't that much use here. SR
  21. I do have a SeaBIOS VM, but it's been running fine for months. I've only noticed these messages in the last couple of hours. SR
  22. Hi all, I getting the below error showing up in the system log. Feb 19 16:41:46 Tower kernel: usb 4-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 7 Feb 19 16:41:46 Tower kernel: usb 4-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 8 using ehci-pci Feb 19 16:41:46 Tower kernel: hub 4-1.3:1.0: USB hub found Feb 19 16:41:46 Tower kernel: hub 4-1.3:1.0: 2 ports detected Feb 19 16:42:36 Tower kernel: usb 4-1.3: USB disconnect, device number 8 It keeps going on like this every minute or so, with each successive device being disconnected. The only things plugged into USB are the flash drive and the management cable to the UPS. Everything seems to be working ok but this message is filling up the logs quite quickly. Running 6.1.8 - Diagnostics attached. Thanks, SR tower-diagnostics-20160219-1644.zip
  23. Plex only needs write access to its library and transcode folder, read-only is fine for the media folders. I've had it set this way for months and not had any problems. SR
  24. I've not done this myself as I backup to the online service, but... The container config is ok, you need to set the right destination folder from the application. In the Destinations menu, select the Folder tab. Browse for the folder you want (one on /disk1) and select this, it should then appear in the Available Folders window. Select this folder then click Start Backup. Crashplan will create a database file in the folder then your backed up data will be stored in there. SR
