  1. The main thing that worries me is it fills the syslog file. Making it 133 meg, then nothing else can be written to it
  2. I am sure this is down to the bios in my motherboard not being properly acpi compliant. The system works okay but i worry this may have a negative inpact on the system. I have tried all bios revisions on my mb, ASRock - Z170M Extreme4 and is same. Should i worry or just ignore? What will this error cause? 3. I have rebuilt my server this weekend with new parts. Motherboard and cpu. System is working okay except i have had a few lockups on rebooting. Would i be better off to reinstall unraid onto my flash drive for the new build rather than just putting my unraid flash from old build into this one? thanks
  4. Hi guys. Rebuilt my unraid this weekend from a xeon 1240v2 and socket 1155 motherboard to an i7 6700 and ASRock - Z170M Extreme4 (socket 1151) motherboard. I noticed that the board had 2 usb controllers. The motherboard has only usb3 with usb 2.0 legacy support that can be enabled disabled in bios. root@Prime:~# lspci | grep USB 00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H USB 3.0 xHCI Controller (rev 31) 04:00.0 USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. Device 1242 So my unraid flash drive would definately be on one controller and i can passthrough the other. I noticed some interesting things. Any usb device i plugged into the intel controller if usb 2.0 would be assigned bus 001. Any usb 3.0 would be assigned bus 002. root@Prime:~# lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0781:5583 SanDisk Corp 64gig usb3.0 flash Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 005: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0f30:0001 Jess Technology Co., Ltd Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0781:556b SanDisk Corp UNRAID flash Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Swapping the devices in different usb ports gives same result usb 3.0 always bus 002 and usb 2.0 always bus 001 same on the other contoller. Usb 3.0 is bus 004 and usb 2.0 is bus 003. so looking at the device numbers root@Prime:~# readlink /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1 ../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1 root@Prime:~# readlink /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2 ../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb2 root@Prime:~# readlink /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb3 ../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.0/0000:04:00.0/usb3 root@Prime:~# readlink /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb4 ../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.0/0000:04:00.0/usb4 I assume the usb2.0 legacy of the board just assigns a different bus to usb 2.0 devices. The reason im posting this is just to let others know that your bus can change and always test each port with a usb 2.0 and 3.0 device when checking the bus. I could have checked all my spare usb ports with my usb 3.0 flash and it would have given me a different bus to my unraid flash (which is usb 2.0) and i could have passed that controller by mistake.

  6. Hi, my docker size seems to be increasing. It started at 10 gigs then i increased it to 15gigs as i got warnings about the size. I am now getting warnings again. I dont want to increase the size again as i am not adding any dockers. This is the current size. Label: none uuid: 18765ddf-5906-4782-a669-d6c50fc37031 Total devices 1 FS bytes used 9.02GiB devid 1 size 15.00GiB used 13.29GiB path /dev/loop0 I assumed that a docker must be storing info inside the docker image, but i have checked and none are set to do that. The dockers i have running all the time are 1. binhex-delugevpn 2. binhex-plexpass 3. needo SABnzbd 4 needo SickRage i have other dockers installed that i run sometimes Krusader, couchpotatoe, and these i dont use mariadb (not used yet) crashplan (dont use yet). I do install dockers and remove them to test some. I thought maybe they not getting removed properly I am thinking of attaching the docker image to a linux vm and see if i can see inside whats happening but i dont know if this is a good idea. Anyone got any suggestions as to what may cause the constant increase in size
  7. yes will be a docker issue for example SABnzdb has a setting under config/folders for permissions for completed downloads. Set it to 777 see attached pic
  8. Hi, I have been trying to help a friend with his unraid. He had to resetup the flash drive with new install of unraid, but had no backup of the flashdrive unfortunately so all config was gone. As soon as the array is started a syntax error happens. All his old disks are setup and working. Once the array is started orginal shares can be accessed from a pc. However they dont show in the Unraid gui and no new shares can be added. Is there a way to import the old shares which exist on the array into the unraid gui? Thanks
  9. thanks for the link. I now have my cirrus graphics and network all working. Still have to boot with step by step which is fine, just a pain.
  10. yeah yeah i know everyone is running windows 10 but i want to run some really old systems for..... well no reason at all really !! Anyway i had a 98 vm in vmware which i converted to a kvm image. However when I run it, it will only start if I run it in step by step confirmation (see screenshot) When i run it in vmware it starts normally without having to do this. But as kvm it will only start this way. Anyone know why this happens and how to make it boot without this step? Also would love to get network drivers working and vga drivers my xml file is as follows <domain type='kvm'> <name>win98</name> <uuid>eab7c873-11b4-5a63-a5bd-acad96594c1a</uuid> <metadata> <vmtemplate name="Custom" icon="windows98.png" os="windowsxp"/> </metadata> <memory unit='KiB'>524288</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>524288</currentMemory> <memoryBacking> <nosharepages/> <locked/> </memoryBacking> <vcpu placement='static'>1</vcpu> <cputune> <vcpupin vcpu='0' cpuset='0'/> </cputune> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-2.3'>hvm</type> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> <hyperv> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> </hyperv> </features> <cpu mode='host-passthrough'> <topology sockets='1' cores='1' threads='1'/> </cpu> <clock offset='localtime'> <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <devices> <emulator>/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='writeback'/> <source file='/mnt/user/Software/vms old operating systems/win98/win98.img'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/mnt/user/Software/Windows software/operating systems/unraid virtual io/virtio-win-0.1.102.iso'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> <controller type='usb' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x2'/> </controller> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='ide' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='virtio-serial' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:71:77:c7'/> <source bridge='ed'/> <model type='virtio'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target port='0'/> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <channel type='unix'> <source mode='bind' path='/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/channel/target/win98.org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <target type='virtio' name='org.qemu.guest_agent.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> <input type='tablet' bus='usb'/> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes' websocket='-1' listen='0.0.0.0' keymap='en-us'> <listen type='address' address='0.0.0.0'/> </graphics> <video> <model type='cirrus' vram='16384' heads='1'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </video> <memballoon model='virtio'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </memballoon> </devices> </domain>
  11. I really dont know if the following would work but it could maybe?! 1. create a new vm disk. 2. Attatch it to vm as second drive 3. Run something like a drive cloning software like acronis true image and clone the main os drive to the smaller drive. like i say never tried it but dont see why it wouldnt work so long as the software can "hot image" ie clone without restarting the pc
  12. I wanted to passthough a gpu on a laptop once (not using unraid) when using linux to a vm. But i had probs because although it had 2 gpus, being optimus all display is passed through the gpu built into the cpu. so never got it working. Also i heard you cant use the screen on laptop for gpu passthough you have to use a separate monitor out. Maybe someone else knows more. I always wanted to run a vm with passthrough on a laptop aswell
  13. I would stay away from nvidea. For what you want HD6450 is great. Also if you want to make osx vm card is supported by osx out the box!!
  14. Just pulled down latest version. Torrents still added stuck on pause?
  15. Merru christmas everybody!! I too really hate the word "store". Store implies a financial transaction. I hate the apple store, microsoftstore etc. Should just be called apps.
  16. If you dont have integrated graphics an nvidea card has problems if it is the primary gpu http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44258.msg422520#msg422520
  17. Please click on the info button on unraid and see if it says IOMMU: Enabled Then click on tools ,system devices and list the PCI Devices and IOMMU Groups and also list your xml file here so we can look at that. You could also try PCIe ACS Override in the settings, vm manager
  18. Was meant to be wol app lol. Hah no Im in Bristol so only about 100 miles. I must remember not to write on forums on my tablet or learn how to turn off autotype!!
  19. I'm sure you have already checked this, but the pci express slots you have on your motherboard they do both run full speed. When 2 cards in together. On my board only the primary will run at full speed. If I put a gpu in second slot then the second slot is limited to x8 This may explain worse performance on second vm??
  20. The wake on land plugging for vms works really well. I use it so my girlfriend can easily start opened. Just put a Wolverhampton app on her phone. Now she just switches on TV and presses button on her phone. Job done!!
  21. Do you mean you have updated bios on motherboard. If so it may have messed up the vt-d Check in bios settings this is still enabled. If it is then sometimes the bios updates can "break" the vt-d On my board, ASRock B75M-GL R2.0, if I go above bios 1.40 my vt-d doesn't work. Newest bios is 1.60 So if you still have problems go back to earlier bios
  22. yes. And after you have installed the perl and detected which driver for the sensors for your motherboad, you can delete the perl package from unraid as it is only needed to detect which driver is used not to run the sys temp plugin etc.
