  1. already tried that - I have absolutly no idea nvm, if its easy to implement it would be nice to have that functionality - if not, its ok anyway. I can do it from terminal.
  2. for me it is, my server is in my living room and I have a loud 7k3000 in it which is only used for backups - but sometimes it randomly spins up (no idea why, nothing is recognized by file activity). then it would be easier to just go to the GUI and let it spin down.
  3. Feature Request: It would be nice to have the possibility to spin down/up drives from the GUI.
  4. unRAID can spin down unaccessed drives while showing the whole Array as one big/giant volume to the network in a very convenient package. I know there are other solutions for this, but IMHO this is one of the true advantages of unRAID over a standard RAID at all. Also parity isnt for backup, but for availability (same as RAID btw). So IMHO you should use it an then again unRAID is like RAID5 very cost efficient - especially when performance isnt that much of a problem. So IMHO unRAID still is a good call for you.
  5. Watercooling in 1U will be tight… see:
  6. But you're right, it doesnt really matter which color the drive is, all WD drive are more or less the same. And I've also seen reds dying after a few weeks…
  7. FYI: got the delay issue here with an GTX 1060 … so its not an AMD specific problem.
  8. Never misunderstand these consumer-router-exposed-host-thingys as a DMZ! Almost all of them simply open the firewall for that host, but dont add any rules between the exposed host and your LAN. Better use two routers in cascade.
  9. +1 for multiple pools - that would add A LOT of flexibility for a ton of usecases. no sure if multiple arrays are sane in any matter, but multiple cache pools would be very, very awesome.
  10. +1 Ref: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12380
  11. IMHO its the best white* Case for up to 8 drives (7x 3,5" + 2x 2,5" cache SSDs with this). You can squeeze up to 17(!) 3,5" drives in it (11x 3,5" + 6 in 5,25" slots) but I'm not sure if its possible to keep the whole thing silent and cool then… NZXT 440 or Fractal Refine are good ones too… * I had to buy a white case which really limits the choice, there are plenty good black ones out there (maybe even better ones then the DS5)
  12. All the drives are old ones. Some day all of them will be red – hopefully the case is very nice. cant say anything bad about it.
  13. Is this thread still alive? Here's my "Gaming/HTPC/NAS"-Build, its running my main Windows Gaming VM, Plex, Sync and soon a second HTPC-VM (sadly there is no possibility to pass-through onboard sound on my board) Drives: 1 Western Digital WD Red 3TB, 3.5", SATA 6Gb/s (WD30EFRX) 1 Western Digital WD Green 3TB, SATA 6Gb/s (WD30EZRX) 2 Western Digital WD Red 1TB, 2.5", SATA 6Gb/s (WD10JFCX) 2 SK Hynix Canvas SL308 250GB, SATA (HFS250G32TND-N1A2A) HW: 1 Intel Core i7-6700K, 4x 4.00GHz, boxed without cooler (BX80662I76700K) 2 Crucial Ballistix Sports LT red DIMM 16GB, DDR4-2400, CL16-16-16 (BLS16G4D240FSE) 1 MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X 6G, 6GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (V328-001R) 1 ASRock Z170 Extreme4 (90-MXGYJ0-A0UAYZ) 1 Noctua NF-A14 PWM 1 Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Rev. B white, noise-insulated (NXDS5WB) 1 SilverStone SFX Series SX500-LG 500W SFX12V-L (SST-SX500-LG) Additionally, I've ordered an AOC-SASLP-MV8 for 30€ on ebay… hopefully it works
  14. probably not noticeable. these cables to cost a little bit performance, but thats normally only a few FPS
  15. uh! of course - my bad. (didnt I added a diags.zip? ) diagnostics attached, but cant see anything fancy in it… i think it has something to do with docker or resilio itself - so I dont think its an unRAID Problem in the first place. datenteich-diagnostics-20161208-2222_2.zip
  16. Hi all, my log gets spammed with the following: I'm using the limetech/sync Docker template and these error only appear when its running - obviously Is this an issue with Sync, Docker or unRAID? Has someone an Idea where I could start searching for a solution? thanks & regards me.so.bad
  17. syncthing has some troubles when using it on different OSes with different users and need to access the files directy on the server. Example: OSX (and other distros) creates new files with 644 - syncthing syncs theses permissions to the NAS and nobody (except the owner) can modify them directly on it. thats why resilio is better when using it with multiple users.
  18. even if you post is a bit older now, maybe I can help Synology only looks nice at first, especially audio station is a mess. cloud station also has some really annoying (and fatal) bugs. unRAID has docker, and docker has resilio sync (which is awesome if you go pro) and plex (which is WAY better then photo station video staion IMHO). Music can be done with something like cloudbeats (iOS app) + webdav or, again, plex.
