I tried compiling libvirt v6.8.0 (released today 😃 ) myself but since I don't know exactly what build options @limetech uses I can't start the daemon successfully. Got the same on my second Server (Sandy Bridge) too when upgrading from beta25 to beta29, had to run the 'make_bootable' as admin aigain and had to say NO when asked if I want to permit UEFI boot.

Just an update to the core itself for 6.9.0 now the needed components for nVidia are precompiled by me und just inserted, this speeds up the build signifficantly... The latest template has only Mellanox Tools in it and I think some other small things (hint, you can also define a variable 'DONTWAIT' and set it to 'true' then all warning messages are skipped). You only have to edit the 'none hidden settings' the others are just if somebody want's to download a different version of the container.

What was the error that you ran into? Now they build with meson/ninja. If I can help please feel free to contact me, the build options for Unraid or better speaking the path's that you specify would be helpful.

@Morrtin du stehst also vor dem Problem Unraid oder nicht Unraid. Es gibt zB das Eolize SVD NC11 oder auch das Silverstone DS380 oder noch ein ATX Tower von Silverstone das aber schätze ich für dich mal nicht in Frage kommt, wenns jetzt mal um den Formfaktor geht würd ich das als erstes abklären. Beides sind ITX Gehäuse bzw in das Silverstone sollte sogar ein BTX board passen aber das kann ich dir nicht 100%-ig garantieren. Wenn du eher in die günstige richtung willst könnt ich dir zu einem Ryzen 3200G (wirklich nur für eine VM da du nur 4 Kerne hast) oder wenn du mehr Power willst dann würd ich dir einen Ryzen 3400G (4Kerne 8Threads) raten. Du kannst natürlich auch overkill gehen und Intel mit 10th gen i5 (6Kerne 12Threads), nach oben wie gesagt keine Grenze... Wie du schon sagtest ein NUC, ja würd wahrscheinlich auch funktionieren die Entscheidung liegt aber bei euch. Wie ich das lese seit ihr euch noch nicht 100%-ig sicher ob ihr mehrere VM's wollt...

Kein Problem das du dabei bleibst. Kann dir nur sagen das ich mit meiner GTX750 keine probleme gehabt hab. Transcodierte 1 Stream mit 15 bis 20% Last je nach Input. Warum sollte das mit PCIe x1 nicht "halbwegs gut" funktionieren, was auch immer das heißen mag... Entweder es funktioniert oder nicht.

Das funktioniert. Hab selbst eine GTX750 in einem PCIe x1 Slot. EDIT gibt aber auch die GT710 x1

Ja hab ich, aber ich hab multimode OS4 bends die sind schlimmer das hab ich gemeint und der im Foto abgebildete LWL ist ein Singlemode OS2. EDIT: Hab leider am Anfang auf Multimode gesetzt da es damals noch günstiger war, jetzt gibts eigentlich kein unterschied mehr.

Diese bends sind kein Problem, OM4 (Multimode) kannst um einen Bleistift wickeln und das funktioniert problemlos. Lies bitte meinen Post nochmal, ich hab dir eine SFP+ Karte verlinkt und ein SFP+ Modul auf 10Gbit RJ45 Kupfer. Das sind doch keine schlimmen bends... Hab ich zu hause schlimmere... Hier mal ein Beispiel (nebenbeigesagt nur ein Testaufbau mit einem Singlemode Module 1Gbit BiDi):

@Lyror Hätte genauer lesen sollen, stimmt schon teilweise aber ich würd die Karte ganz einfach mal in einem 4x Slot probieren und dann testen auf welchen Speed du kommst, ich kann nur von meinen ConnectX2 reden und die funktionieren sogar in einem 1x Slot natürlich mit enormen Geschwindigkeitseinbusen. PCIe 3.0 x4 sollte doch knapp 4.000MB/s bandweite haben wenn ich mich nicht irre... PCIe 2.0 x4 sollte dann ca 2.000MB/s bandweite haben Sollte also problemlos funktionieren mit keinen bzw minimalen einbußen. Wenn du eine PCIe 3.0 x8 Karte im x4 Slot betreibst sollte eigentlich alles normal funktionieren mit 10Gbit/s jedoch kommts natürlich auf das Chipdesign an. Einfach probieren, bei Amazon kannst immer retournieren wenns nicht so läuft wie du willst.

@Lyror Was? Das stimmt doch nicht... Der ist über den Chipsatz angebunden laut der Beschreibung und nicht direkt an die CPU... Leider gibt's für die neuen Motherboard kein Block Diagram mehr... Und vergiss nicht 8x Karten funktionieren auch meistens in einem 4x Slot (der in deinem Fall 16x ist)

Oh gibt schon tests dazu: Klick Naja wenn man bedenkt das es grad mal 6% um den Daumen sind und noch dazu bei den Zahlen bzw FPS... Kommt aber immer drauf an wie man selber damit zu recht kommt...

Du könntest auch eine SFP+ Karte benutzen und ein dementsprechendes Cooper modul. Kannst mal deine Systemkomponenten auflisten? Das klingt sehr sonderbar das es nur mit IDE funktioniert und mit AHCI nicht... Das sollte eigentlich Problemlos funktionieren, versuchst du es über das eingebaute Webinterface (noVNC) oder verbindest dich über einen Desktop VNC client?

Wer lesen kann ist im vorteil. Ich poste doch die ganze zeit wegen der iGPU Auf AMD systemen ist das alles nicht so einfach und mit problemen behaftet, freezes, reset bugs usw... Intel ist für Unraid noch immer die Eierlegende wollmilch sau. Will nur die probleme die bestehen offenlegen, schon in meinem ersten post gings um die iGPU bzw auch mit dedizierter GPU. Die Fragen sind mal benatwortet denke ich.
