  1. Thanks. I got it working a while ago. I just followed the instructions related to the Thraxis docker and I got it working for automated downloads. I also have the Calibre docker looking at a Watch folder so I can add .epub manually. I used this when migrating my epub collection from Apple's Books app.
  2. I have an update here: Ubiquiti finally reached out to me yesterday - 3 months later - saying they are ready to follow up on this case. Given my experiences with the EXACT SAME HARDWARE RUNNING ESXi working just fine on the XG RJ45s, I agree that the issue is most likely Unraid related. So I would suggest that @jonp look into this further. I can give the Ubiquiti case manager Jon P's email and will do so. But I'm feeling a bit bad now that I gave Ubiquiti such a hard time when the culprit is Unraid's interaction with this onboard Intel NIC.
  3. Can someone with a good, solid LL workflow share how they are using LL along with Calibre? I know there is another Thraxis docker that people seem to favor for this integration. But I also see people here using what seems like a simpler method of having LL add books to a Calibre ‘Add Folder’ and then Calibre adds those new books to it’s db when it is launched. My goal is to use the Calibre features to easily side load books on my Kindle/iPad via email. I’d rather not have to manually add these new LL books to Calibre. So before I do down the path of using the Thraxis docker vs Linuxserver docker, I’d just like some suggestions on the right path to take for this automation. Seems like plenty of people are happy to use LS docker and some ALSO use Calibre. I done a lot of reading of the threads and googling, but just can’t get the complete picture of a *best practice* automation for books.
  4. @fuzzewuzze Can you briefly write up how you got this finally working. It’s hard for those of us who follow the thread to only see “I think I have it working now” without any details on *how* you got it working. I’m just now setting up LL and want to use Calibre as well. Question for anyone: I have an existing Calibre book library on my local Mac. I would like to move all of this to my Unraid server. I already have other media automation dockers running so am familiar with that process. Want to add LL/Calibre automation. Do I just copy my existing Calibre book library (which contains Calibre .db) over to a /books share on my Unraid server and then point this docker at that? What would be my Calibre client at that point? Do I mount my /books share on my Mac and continue to use the Mac Calibre client for any metadata updates, or do I need to switch to using something like the Calibre-Web docker as a replacement? I’ve done a lot of googling to try to find a single guide for setting this up and all I find are bits and pieces without the full story. Thanks.
  5. I gave up. I never got it to work and Ubiquiti just never followed up on the support case I opened. I expect the core issue DOES involve the interaction between Unraid using the on-board Intel NIC and Ubiquiti switch. I ended up buying a 10G SFP+ card and putting that in my Unraid server instead. That has been rock solid since. I think those RJ45 ports on the XG do have issues with specific NICs and I've concluded that those ports, in some cases, don't provide enough power to keep the connection up. But it seems to DEFINITELY involve the Unraid driver in some weird way as I don't see the issue on the exact same hardware running ESXi to the same switch RJ45 ports. Unraid seems to handle the SFP+ 10G NIC just fine. I wish I had an answer as to why that config was flakey. Pretty disappointed in UBNT for not resolving the case.
  6. The reason I suspected this was an Unraid driver issue was because I had an identical Gigabyte server - same one as @slimshizn - and the onboard NIC 10GT connections dropped with the XG as well as failing to even pull an IP address during a reboot. However, I have a 2nd server with identical hardware running ESXi and that DID NOT DROP any 10G connections when connected to the UBNT XG. So @jonp I do think there is something going on with Unraid’s drivers and their interaction with the UBNT gear at 10G-T. I just couldn’t spend any more time trying to debug this and without UBNT actively engaging it was hard to make progress. I suspect UBNT is going to blame this on Unraid honestly and then there will be a blame game of pointing at the other vendor. So I needed a working solution and an SFP+ card in the Unraid box solved it for me. I will follow up with UBNT this week to not let them off the hook and will suggest what @jonp offered as a way for them to look into the issues. Is there some contact at Lime Tech that I should give them if they ask?
  7. My update is that I ultimately installed an SFP+ card in my Unraid system and then connected that to the XG via a fiber cable. It has been rock solid since then. Not a surprise based on what I had expected and read about the flakey 10G-T ports on the XG. Disappointingly, UBNT has STILL not resolved my open support case on this despite promises that the escalation team would engage within a week. I think clearly those ports on the XG have issues with certain NICs as you suggest and it could come down to the ports not being powered properly so the connection getting dropped. I think UBNT is going to resolve this in subsequent hardware revisions and will probably do so silently. I’d like to have my support case result in a hardware upgrade when they fix this. I ultimately didn’t want to return the XG because my whole network is run off of the UBNT Controller.
  8. Thanks for that info. As an UPDATE: I ultimately not only changed the RSTP priorities but also put my XG as the Core root switch in my chain and moved the US-24 to hang off that. Also moved the USG connection to Port 16 on the XG. I was *sure* this would solve my issues. But it didn’t. I still got disconnects after a few hours on Port 13. Have been running Port 13 at 1g for the last 4 days and there have been no issues. I’m frustrated with Ubiquiti support as I have an open case on this issue and they escalated for me to a higher support team. But I’ve heard nothing since then and have emailed them repeatedly to engage. Going to try again today via chat. I find it unacceptable to have a switch which is being sold as working only to find that one of it’s features just doesn’t work. While I can move my server to SFP+ connection, which I will do by putting in a new SFP+ NIC card this week, a couple other devices have 10Base-T built-in and are not upgradable to SFP+. So I need those RJ45 ports to work also.
  9. @Benson UBNT support asked me to try setting the RSTP priority values differently on my switches. My three switches all had the same priority value. They asked me to try setting my 'root bridge' switch - the US-24 in my case - to lower value than the XG and then to reboot both switches. I will update here once I've retested as to whether this resolve my issue. Again, posting all this here in case it some day helps someone else in same situation.
  10. I was told on the UBNT forums that any hardware post revision 6 has been 'fixed' as to the port issues. My hw revision is 13 so I was assuming the problem was elsewhere and likely firmware related. But will try to get an answer out of UBNT today and swap the switch regardless in hopes of solving this. But would really like to know why I only see this issue with Unraid vs ESXi.
  11. Yes @Benson. I've had no issues since setting Port 13 on the XG to 1g. What can we conclude from this? That this is DEFINITELY a XG issue, i.e. it won't hold the network connection when the port is set for 10g? There were a LOT of these reported issues with this switch during it's beta phase. Apparently UBNT worked on the issues with firmware updates. A lot of the issues were specific to Intel NICs which is what I have. However, I have another server running ESXi which is the exact same hardware and it doesn't lose the connection to the XG at 10g. So I keep concluding that there is something related to Unraid networking at 10g connected to this switch. I'm completely out of ideas. But running the XG ports at 1g for Unraid is not why I bought the switch. I'm wondering if getting a 10g-T transceiver for one of the SFP+ ports would fix this. But those cost around $130 so not exactly what I want as the fix. Still waiting on UBNT support for a response on my escalated issue.
  12. @Benson Do you have any updates in your testing? My update is that after switching IP addresses to set the static IP from the Unifi side of things, I managed to have my network connections stay up for 12 hours straight until I had to leave for the weekend. I also left my Unraid log open on screen to see if I could see anything happening once I got back. Unfortunately, some time over Friday-Sunday my connection dropped again and there was nothing new in the log file. My next step is to set Port 13 on the XG to 1g and isolate whether it is the XG itself that is losing the IP/routing or something to do with the 10g link speed itself on those ports.
  13. Getting desperate now to narrow issue. I had my Unraid server set to static IP and Gateway in Unraid itself. I noticed on the UBNT side that when I tried to set a static address on the router/USG for this server the Unifi Controller would give me an error. And it seems odd to me that my network drops appear to be the router losing the IP and route to my server on the XG but not the network link connection itself. So last night I set Unraid to dynamic IP and gateway and it pulled a new IP address while still connected to the XG. I then went back to the Unifi side and this time it let me set the 'fixed' IP address for the Unraid server on the new IP. I rebooted the server and it cleanly connected to the network and was assigned the correct IP address by the USG. That connection has been up on the XG all night now. Will see how it goes today. I'm speculating that the XG is somehow losing the route to the Unraid server over time when the IP is being set on the Unraid side. But if I let the network/router manage setting the address and gateway addressing I'm wondering if this will change. Could be totally off the mark here but just trying to narrow things down.
  14. So I only need spanning tree (RSTP or STP) when bridging the two physical NICs? In other words, I can turn OFF any spanning tree on this switch if I am not bridging two or more NICs. Still using Docker and VMs on Unraid so not clear if I need STP or not. Ready to try anything to further isolate issue and pass on to UBNT team.
  15. NEW NEW UPDATE: A complete reboot of the Unraid server DID NOT result is an accessible server after reboot. Something going on with the switch and its interaction with Unraid. Just not clear on the root cause. But I would have expected a reboot to reset the networking issues whatever they are and start the whole process all over again. My guess is that I will need to shutdown the server again, move the network connection back to the 1g switch, boot and things will be normal again. Just not at 10g, which is the whole reason I bought this server and switch. Ugh.
  16. NEW UPDATE: New eth0 only setup as per above held all day to the XG but the connection was dropped again by approx. 8pm this evening. Server is inaccessible yet 10g LED light is lit on the XG. But Unifi Controller shows the server as gone from the client list. So I don't know what to do at this point. I've simplified the networking as much as possible short of just turning off bridging altogether, but I assume that would make using Docker and VMs a non-starter. Anyone have any other insights to share on what might be going on here? Pretty frustrated. Going back to the US-24 and the 1g connection. But I just don't get why this 10g connection won't hold up. Seems like others having similar issues such as @slimshizn
  17. Yeah, the whole thing is weird. I escalated this issue to UBNT and they are supposed to be looking at it through their escalation team. I'm happy for now to just have a stable connection for the single eth0 NIC on the XG. But like I said, I will connect the 2nd NIC to the XG and turn on bonding=balance-alp as most of what I've read suggests this will work fine. For some reason the XG just doesn't like Unraid bridging when there is no connection to one of the NICs.
  18. The XG switch is setup for RSTP as is the other US-24 switch that doesn't see this problem. So totally unclear on what is going on there.
  19. Update: I removed eth1 from the default Unraid 6.6 bridge. All my networks drops to the 10g switch appear to be gone. Have no idea why this was a problem since this didn't happen when connected to different 1g switch. Switch setups were exact same except for link speed.
  20. UPDATE: So to continue making progress on this issue I decided remove eth1 from the default bridge (br0) since there is no cable attached and I'm not using it. I then shut down the Unraid server and plugged the RJ45 back into the XG port that was giving me problems. This time booting the server all went well and the server pulled the IP address as expected. I've also had NONE of the network drops - so far - that I was experiencing on this switch prior when eth1 was bridged with eth0 (NIC with cable). So I'm concluding that for some reason the XG doesn't like Unraid's bridge with two NICs when only one is connected. This is NOT an issue when plugging the same exact setup into a 1g UBNT switch. I have no idea why this presents as a problem at 10g on the XG but seems resolved for now. My next step is to ultimately connect my 2nd NIC to the XG and set up bonding with balance-alp. Hoping that doesn't cause any issues to return.
  21. Trying to isolate a networking problem - random connection drops - I’m having with a 10g switch. My server has dual Intel 10g NICs that Unraid 6.6 has setup in a bridge since the default network settings are Bridging=yes with both NICs: eth0 and eth1. A few questions about this: - Do I have bridge the two NICs for some reason? If I am only using one cabled connection to eth0 can I just remove eth1 from the bridge? - Must bridging be turned on at all? I am using Linuxserver Docker containers and some VMs, but not doing anything fancy with those for networking. Is a bridge setup by Unraid required for Docker and VM Manager? I posted elsewhere about my Ubiquiti 10g XG switch issue, which I thought might be related to STP settings. But now I think it is the bridging setup and just don’t want to mess up my server without some input. The weird thing is that this same server has no network drops when connected to a 1g switch. It’s only when on the 10g switch where I see the issue. Thanks.
  22. @BensonI am using Docker containers and VMs but nothing specific to the bridge that I am aware of. I don’t understand how bridging works in Unraid. Can I just delete my unused eth1 NIC connection from the br0 bridge? So that would mean that I still have Bridging=YES set but it would only be using the eth0 connection for the single NIC I have cabled. I ask this in case I need to have bridging turned on for VMs and Docker containers to use as needed. Or do I just turn bridging off completely? But again, I thought Docker and VMs needed that.
  23. @Benson I'm running the default Unraid networking for 6.6. That default is to bridge multiple NICs, when they exist, into a br0. I'm running the default configuration on Unraid and this is how it is setup. My mainboard has the two NICs on board but I am only using one of them as eth0. But eth1 is bridged in to that br0 as I described above. So can I remove one of the NICs from this bridge and just run Unraid off the one eth0 connection? My understanding is that the bridge is required for Docker and VM networking. I am also running my 10g connection off the copper/RJ45 Port 13 on the XG and not the SFP+ ports. I wonder if I was ONLY using the one NIC without a bridge whether this would solve my connection issue. It would seem that your not having issues narrows the problem to either Unraid bridging setup and/or Unraid's interaction with that RJ45 copper port on the XG. I suspect it has something to do with the bridging. As I said above, I have EXACT same hardware in another server running ESXi with same single NIC being used with the 2nd one unattached. That server has NO issues on the XG via the copper ports. So this is why I am seeking help from the Unraid networking gurus as I know that 6.6 changes a bunch of networking code and this bridging setup may be the root cause of my issue when on the XG.
  24. Anyone? Could be Ubiquiti issue but weird how it only happens with Unraid and not ESXi server.
  25. Guess I should have attached diagnostics since that seems to be standard protocol. Was hoping that there might be an easy explanation. Diagnostics still helpful/required?
