  1. Sorry, I'm a little confused. If I'm using CA to backup the AppData folder and then CrashPlan to backup the file created by the CA backup, I no longer need to backup the /cache/system/docker/appdata folder is I guess what I'm asking. Everything in the CA backup file is in the AppData folder, so it would be redundant, right? Thanks!
  2. If I'm using this application to backup my Community Backup Folder, that means I don't have to backup my \cache\system\docker\AppData folder, correct? I just installed CrashPlan and want to make sure I'm getting everything backed up, but not duplicating things unnecessarily.
  3. This is going to be the dumb VM question of the day. I use VMs (Hyper-V) all the time for servers at client sites. DCs, App Servers, etc. They are easy to image, quick to re-deploy if something blows up and offer a lot of other benefits in a business environment. However, I've never used them for client machines. But why use them in a home environment? I'm struggling to find a use case for a VM with my home unRAID server? I don't do PC gaming, but I am a media junkie. I have multiple NUCs in my house for TV shows, Movies and Music if that means anything? Is there a use case I'm missing? I just upgraded my server hardware and thought they might be fun to play with, but I'm struggling to find a reason to use one? Thanks!
  4. Depending on the model of your Synology, have you looked at the Active Backup for Business? You mentioned you tried the Synology ones, but this is newer than the terrible ones they had before and wasn't sure if you had seen it. We use a much more robust imaging system at my office, but I spun it up on a few servers just for piece of mind and it's pretty reliable. But not all models support the software. https://www.synology.com/en-us/dsm/feature/active_backup_business
  5. Thanks Squid. That makes a lot of sense. I was wondering why it was sent to /mnt/cache/appdata/ when my default was set to /mnt/cache/system/docker/appdata I did move it last night and things seem to be working just fine. From what I read yesterday, the CA backup can only be pointed to one location, which was why I wanted to consolidate.
  6. After following some extremely helpful videos by Spaceinvader One, I believe I've migrated from having ports open to each docker, to using a reverse proxy setup. I deleted all the old port forwarding in my router and everything is working externally when I specify the subdomain. The only ports currently forwarded are 80 and 443. They resolve to different ports internally. One question though is that if I'm outside my network and punch in my WAN address, I get a page that says "Welcome to our server. The website is currently being setup under this address. For help and support, please contact [email protected]". Is that normal? is there a way to turn that off so if you somehow know my WAN IP you don't get anything unless you know the subdomain? I'm not even sure where it's coming from to be honest.
  7. I'm actually reading through that thread right now. I'll do some reading on MC and see if I can figure out how it works. It looks like all the appdata stuff has to be consolidated for that backup utility to work. Thanks so much for all your help!
  8. Thanks for the help! What's MC? Can I just move it with windows explorer \\tower\cache? I only have a single SSD cache drive right now with plans to add a second. I'm working towards finding a way to backup my appdata stuff so wanted to consolidate it all.
  9. I'm starting to use my setup for more and more things, but want to make sure I get things correct before moving forward. I added another app today (pihole) and noticed that I have two AppData folders. I'd like to consolidate them to where ever they are supposed to be. Looks like the one with pihole is /mnt/cache/appdata My other apps (SAB, Emby, etc) are /mnt/cache/system/docker/AppData/ Which one is correct? I also have a share called appdata set to cache only which I'm assuming is /mnt/cache/appdata?
  10. The GUI says its spun down. Not sure why it would only be that one drive. I have 3 of the same model. I even swapped out the cage with the same result. Now it's off to find out why initially all drives had temperatures and then the next time I looked they are all *. Well, all except for the new one that's sitting there as "unassigned". Ugh, this new setup is driving me up a wall!
  11. @Frank1940 You were definitely on to something with that comment, but I initially dismissed it because of the stuck blue activity light on the Seagate drive. I ended up having to go into the LSI configuration utility and change the adapter control from BIOS and OS to OS Only. Now it will boot with all the drives installed. The blue light on that one drive is still stuck on, but I think that's for another thread.
  12. I have a dumb question after watching the video and reading the first few posts. It looks like you can specify an IP address in the configuration. So lets say my unRAID server runs at 192.168.0.90, can I set the IP address for the Pihole at 192.168.0.89 and not have to change the unRAID port number to 81? It looks like I can just give it any old IP address outside of the DHCP server's addressable range. But I wasn't sure how that worked if you had two addresses on the same NIC.
  13. I booted initially with the BIOS set to defaults and all the drives installed and it wouldn't boot. That's when I changed the boot order. The USB drive shows up under USB Drives and isn't shown under the HDD section. It's a Supermicro case with 36 bays, so I hope it doesn't choke after 12 or 13 drives. The BIOS is current according to the Supermicro website v3.5c (3/18/16) I'm convinced it's some type of weird interaction between the WD drive and that Seagate.
  14. I wish it was that easy. I even went so far as to remove all the drives from the setting where you could order the individual drives. It doesn’t make sense to me that leaving both the WD and Seagate installed keeps it from booting to the flash drive but removing either drive and it’s fine. I’m also not sure why the HDD activity light on the Seagate is on solid.
  15. Does anyone know if this works with the Supermicro H8DGU-F motherboard? The Motherboard has IPMI 2.0, however, the Fan Speed section isn't there under Configuration.
  16. I'm hoping someone can help me with some issues I'm having with a Supermicro server. Motherboard H8DGU-F / LSI 9211-8i It's throwing a fit with all the drives installed. I powered down my old server, and was able to boot with just the flash drive installed. unRAID complained it was missing the disks, but they hadn't been installed yet. I powered it down, installed all the disks, edited the BIOS so the only thing available was the Flash Drive. It booted to the "No boot device available" error. Upon initial power on, the light on my 6TB WD WD60EFRX and a Seagate ST3000DM001 go solid (all other drive lights are off). About 10 seconds after, the WD turns off and the Seagate light stays on. If I remove either of those two drives, it will boot to the flash drive. But if they are both connected, it won't boot to the flash drive. For some reason, if I remove the WD and leave the Seagate installed, the light remains on all the time. I have 2 other ST3000DM001 drives and they are fine. Anyone know what's going on with those drives? Everything was fine in the old tower.
  17. Edit -> Ignore my post. I'm a complete idiot. I didn't realize I had to go to Plugins -> Click on the Trash Can Icon and then turn it on. Duh! Please excuse my ignorance on this one, but I'm having some issues getting this to work. I installed the plugin (v2020.02.27). From File Explorer on a Windows 10 machine I deleted a file I didn't need from my \\tower\Music Videos share. However, I'm unable to find a \\tower\Music Videos\.Recycle.Bin or any other hidden folder within the \\tower\Music Videos folder. Am I looking in the wrong place? I saw the screenshot above and don't see the Recycle.Bin under my list of user shares. Does that need to be created manually?
  18. Any thoughts on something like this: I'm assuming the first line is referring to the max individual drive size and not the total size of all the drives. Thanks so much for your help! I don't want to by the wrong thing. 19. Crap, well, never mind then. All my drives are 3.5". I guess I'll keep looking.
  20. Thanks johnnie.black. One other dumb question. I'm new to this server chassis / backplane stuff. But the description says: -24-bay SFF 2.5" backplane (front), and 2x 2.5" bays in the back Does that mean that it only supports 2.5" drives?
  21. Can someone tell me if this will work with unRAID? I'm finding confusing and conflicting information surrounding the H310 Mini. -24-bay SFF 2.5" backplane (front), and 2x 2.5" bays in the back - 2x 300GB 10K SAS 2.5" drives (in the back) - 2x 10-Core 1.7GHz E5-2650Lv2 CPU's - 64GB RAM - H310 Mini RAID - iDRAC with Enterprise license - 2x 1Gb RJ45 Ports - 2x 10Gb RJ45 Ports - 2x 750W Power supplies - Rails are NOT included. - 24 slot fillers
  22. I'm looking around for a rack mount chassis and was hoping for some recommendations. I don't need anything with a bankplane and really just want to migrate to a rack mount case from my tower. I need space for at least 12 drives, but 16 would be more preferable. I currently have 10 x 3.5" drives and 1 x 2.5" SSD Cache Drive. It would need to support an ATX motherboard. I'm hoping to stay under $150 if possible. Awhile back I was looking at the Rosewill RSV-L4500, but it looks like they have dumped everything except a redesigned 4100 which doesn't look very appealing. Thanks for the help!
  23. Crap. How stupid am I for not seeing that button. Thanks and sorry to waste your time!
  24. I added two x 4TB HDDs to my system, downloaded and ran the preclear plugin. It took about 36 hours and came back as successful. I stopped the array and assigned them to slot 9 and 10. When I started the array, both show as "Unmountable: No file system". Did I miss a step somewhere? Thanks!
  25. How do I go about using the branch so I can get the latest version? I keep getting the 5.6.x version.
