I just went through this a few weeks ago and yes just backup your info with screenshots,etc and the flash. Mine booted right up..I did have other problem with my raid controller but its not likely. I would just try it

I have a very similar setup with a western digital usb drive. You need community applications installed and then unassigned devices installed. You drive should then be picked up in unraid under the "disks" tab (i believe) I have mine enable auto mounting and shared. Now you should be able to browse the disk with samba (//tower/WD_Book is what mine is) The unassigned disk will usually mount to /mnt/disks/ folder so if in the unraid gui you enter the console (top right) and do a "cd /mnt/disks/" then, "ls" That should be your disk. So for example if I have a folder called movies on my usb drive and a share called movies on my array, I want to copy from my usb drive to my array I would use this: "cp -av /mnt/disks/WD_Book/Movies /mnt/user/Movies" copy files and directorys and list items copied from my usb drive to my movies directory on my array. Do you have anything else working on the network? Lets first look at your router to make sure its working correctly. Can you plug your laptop etc, into your router to see if it gets an ip? Also, what you are using to connect to the webclient with and how is it connected to the router?

No worries, I rebuild the server with the new 6.8.2 image and it works. Its still discerning that my old unraid was only 2 weeks old with minimal changes and it broke. O' Well..

Thank you for your quick reply and for teaching me something new. I didnt know those cfg files were the same as the gui and could be edited! Now the problem continued even after I did what you said, but this time it changed my url to some strange https://dadad,etc.unraid.net address and I remembered this happened before a while back. So in ident.cfg I set SSL to disable and now I can login. I still have the denyhost and ssh plugins disabled and docker and the vm will now come on but I am still getting: error: failed to connect to the hypervisor error: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory from the console and this just started after this upgrade. **Im tempted to just rebuild the flash and start over because im uncomfortable having this happened to me.

I rebuilt my server and configs and its less than two weeks old then today just upgraded to 6.8.2. Upon reboot I have no gui, if I reboot into gui mode I also have no gui. Array seems started and can browse my shares across the network but there also seems like other problems with my docker and virtual machines not starting along with no ssh. After boot up my console reads chmod: cannot access '/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/denyhosts/icons': No such file or directory error: failed to connect to the hypervisor error: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory syslog.txt

Problem is my new controller card is not compatible with my old mother board. I have put the old system back up and am in the process of moving data from the 2.2tb drive. Experience a drive failure during move so I'm going to have to stop the move and replace the bad drive then carry on after a rebuild. I see this taking a good portion of this next week too complete this disaster.

Not sure I if I'm following you on this. But if I reverted back to my old setup then my array should start as usual. At that point I'm confused on what to do, I could move the data off one of my 3tb drives to the empty space on the array and then turn off the array, pull that drive and then start the array and accept new configuration. That would leave me with 2 of the 3tb drives in the array. I do have a 4 tb drive I could use as second parity at that point then rebuild. After that pull the remaining two drives leaving the array running on the two parity drives in a broken state. At this point I could put my hardware on the new controller and motherboard and then it will see the 3 3tb drives and I could rebuild 2 from parity and have the third as extra on the array. Does this all make sense or is there a better way. Thanks

Hello, I have an array of 10 disks and previously had less than stellar equipment that it ran on. 3 of my drives that were 3Tb only ever showed up as 2.2Tb and I accepted that and just went on because It was a limitation of using the onboard controller. I have now upgraded to a modern motherboard and a LSI SAS 9207-8i controller. Upon boot up on this new hardware now detects my drives and are showing their true capacity (3Tb) however I am also getting a "WRONG" configuration under these 3 drives in unraid. Is it ok to accept the new configuration or will I loose my data on these drives? Any advice appreciated. **Edit: There is no accept new configuration since 3 drives are wrong. I am stuck

Guys there is no problem with the password problem and this docker... problem is that it will not accept an easy password but fails to display an error. Make your password more complex like "~3jIXLApbb=8"

I have no idea... but now it just works. Its been broken on my system for like 6 months. I keep unraid fully updated but I have a feeling its because of my flash drive. It died a couple days ago so maybe it was the culprit. Thank you

I dont use antivirus and the internet is also ok. I can download other apps and packages just fine. ITs been like this for a while on my system I just now wanted to use it for borg backup so im in troubleshooting mode. I have completely removed the packages from the flash and reinstalled. It does download the packages but just hangs when it updates.
