  1. Thanks for this. Important and handy reminderfor someone, like me, who always forgets how these things need to be done. ;)
  2. Looks good. Does pulling a SMART report from a disk on M1015 controller still not work? Or is this a setting that can be changed?
  3. I don't even get to the server. When I click the workgroup in networkbrowser on my popbox I get already get the login screen.
  4. Can you specify what brand those replacement are? Might try to get one from Amazon.de
  5. I own a APC build UPS which uses the RBC7 UPS. This batteries needs to be replaced. Should I get Original APC battery or a third-party "compatible" one? The Original might be the safest choice, but also the "best"choice? These APCs cost a small premium and compatibles can be had for half that price or less here in Holland/Europe. Does any of you know a reliable choice for compatible batteries in Holland/Europe?
  6. Didn't see exact instructions, but this fellow says he was going to post info on it. I checked that, but saw nothing more that a small intro regarding apcupsd. And nothing more?? I have a 9617 Management Card in my UPS though and it can do e-mail notification. It needs a SMTP server though that doesn't need authentication. Would it be possible to set up a such a SMTP server in unraid? That would be nice.
  7. Regarding the UPS not shutting down - how long did you wait? And how long is the power-off delay that is set up in the UPS? (This is how long it waits from receiving the kill command until it switches off. Some units allow this to be configured over quite a wide range) Thanks for that tip, was an oversight on my account.
  8. I have a APC SMART UPS with a management card on my network. Yesterday we hade a power failure and after some time my server powered down . I had set APCUPSD KILL UPS to YES, but this didn't seem to happen. Is there a way I get notified on my Iphone when there is a power failure?
  9. Why raid1 the parity? There is no real benefit in that. Do you need redundacy or speed? raid0 seems more logical.
  10. Are you using 3 TB disks cos they are not supported in 4.7. Skip that. Unfortunately I can't be of much help.
  11. Valid point, the warranty question. I saw internal Seagates here in Holland with only 1 year warranty. Í you break open these externals I'm afraid the warranty shortens to 0 days. Are the drives in the externals perhaps drives with a high count of reallocated sectors which are masked in firmware? Or are the binned out on some other "problem" while testing? If you want more warranty you have to pay I guess. Or rely on the retailer you bought them from.
  12. What hardware do you use to get those speeds? Can you specify please? I get over 100 MB/s only at the start of a parity check and it lowly drops to 70-80 MB/s towards the end.
  13. Sorry to barge in like this. Have been reading many threads regarding RCs. This time I didn't however. I am now on RC11. Is there any benefit in upgrading to RC12 or RC12a? What is changed from RC11 to RC12 and from RC12 to RC12a? As I am on a X9SCM-F mainboard, is the slow write issue solved? Are parity checks up to speed again like in Beta12a?
  14. How to setup the BIOS of the X9SCM-F so it restarts and boots unraid after a power shutdown. Is this also possible in ESXi running a unraid VM.
  15. When I try to access a user share which holds several hundred files and folders from either a Windows 7 or Mac OS X computer it takes a long time before I get the initial directory listing. Can this be caused by the fact that some disks are almos filled up? Some have only a few GB free space.
  16. How do you know that parity is not valid if unraid won't start? The only "problem" I had when going to rc11, was that I had to run make_bootable.bat, not a real problem at all though.
  17. Several ports are throwing errors, could be a cable not seated well, cable itself, controller, driver. Are these ports on the SASLP? Check in that area. Could be hardware failure.
  18. Is this true? I didn't know there was a solid fix for the problem. I read that the issue came back after a couple of hours.
  19. I and a few others use a RAID1 volume as cache disk. So yes, it can.
  20. Im using a RAID1 volume on an Areca controller. If it is possible on a 1430? If you can set up a RAID1 volume on it, I gues it should work.
  21. I wonder what warranty period Seagate is offering on these drives.
  22. I guess the higer price of the reds is also because of the 3 year warranty period.
  23. Do you have any addons running that keep files open or is a computer on the network accessing the tower? As long as there is a file open the server won't shut down. I only experience delays in these cases else the array is stopped in 1-2 minutes. Im on RC11 now too BTW.
  24. I think if I were to sell my 2 Pro licenses, I should make sure to sell the USB stick with it. That way I wouldn't have to bother Tom. Best chance to do that is with 2 good quality not too expensive sticks like 4 GB Lexar Fireflys. Tom has always been very helpfull to me even when I killed two sticks in a row. I got a new key within a day.
