  1. Thanks everyone! I updated, and then went to watch a show and no plex server! Argh! I have to admit I'm slack these days at updating (too many projects on the go like 3D printing and Christmas light displays) so this saved me a ton of fiddling. Also discovered a great new app on that youtube video for moving files., Krusader! That made the task a lot easier! :)
  2. Have a look under view in explorer and check or uncheck the hidden files should solve it.
  3. I just turned on log deleted files and all the shares appeared listed. Give that a try.
  4. I just checked mine and it was stopped, which is strange because it was turned off before and working. Started it again, and same issue as your getting. It has picked up one share only which is empty. I'm running 6.3.3 and 2017.03.26 plugin that was updated a few days ago.
  5. Figured it out. Permissions was set as root, so ran the permissions script and it's working like a charm now. Phew.
  6. Is there a reason why this isn't working on some shares? I have nothing in excluded shares, but for some reason nothing is recycled in "Backups" but in "Documents" it is. It's a bit strange.
  7. Thanks dlandon This plugin has saved me in the past. I just noticed it wasn't working on 6.3 and found your update! Thanks for your hard work in making it happen.
  8. Big thank you to dlandon for this plugin! Both servers upgraded to 6.1.2 with a working recycle bin! Cheers! And Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  9. Installed fine as an update. The RecycleBin folder didn't show anything when I accessed via Explorer after deleting a files or 2. In the plugin settings it said it had 20kb which was a few test files I was deleting so they were there, just not visable. I had to manually change permissions for for that folder and they magically appeared. My Windows 10 laptop however can't access the RecycleBin folder at all. Looks like it trying to connect as a domain instead of the Workgroup its set to. All other shares are accessible, and I can access it perfectly fine with my Windows 7 machine. Grrr. My feeling is that this is a Windows 10 issue, good old MS. I noticed in the extra folder that it's setting permissions to 777, is this working? Great work though dlandon! Quick work too! Really appreciated!
  10. Try this http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/what-do-if-youve-forgotten-your-mac-password-3594395/
  11. I had an issue using this script too. Followed the instructions (didn't see any errors flagged), but rebooted and nothing I pulled the USB and thought I would run the makebootable script to see if that works, and it couldn't find syslinux folder... and then I cross checked the clean install I downloaded for my new HP G8 server and noticed syslinux wasn't copied over at all with the .plg update process. I copied over the syslinux folder from the clean install I had downloaded, ran the makebootable script again, and reinserted it and it booted perfectly! Did anyone else find that syslinux was missing?
  12. Files being owned by 'nobody' should not stop them being deleted over the network. You should not need to regularly run the New Permissions tool if the system is correctly set up and configured. Perhaps when you next encounter this problem you can do a command of the form ls -l path-to-files from a console/telnet session and post the results so we can see what the permissions actually are at that point. You also need to get to the root cause of the issue. What is actually creating these files? That is what is likely to need fixing. They are docker config files stored on my cache drive.
  13. Small problem I keep finding is that folders/files on my cache disk are owned by nobody and my Windows machine can't delete them. Running the permissions script on the cache has fixed it, but when I installed a docker again I had the issue all over again. Is running the permissions script ok to fix this (ie to give me access to delete/modify files) or am I missing something simple?
  14. The upgrade is in progress. Setting up a new system then copying it all across from the old system then using the old system as a backup. Setting up Time Machine for my mac, and it now has a Volume dbpath: setting? What's that? It's not there on V5 so I don't know if I have to put anything in there for not.
  15. Thanks! Saved lots of command stuff. Just install, push a button and watch the progress! Love it!
  16. SMF works fine IMO and it's free. It does what it's supposed to do and there are plenty of add ons that can mimic what Xenforo does. This forum runs a bog standard default theme which is pretty bland. If you want more eye candy you just have to get someone to design it based on a template and load it and test it. Some of you budding web designers could probably do it in your sleep. Here's a coffee forum I'm an admin on, coffeeforum.org.au which runs on SMF. The theme was based on a template but customised by one of our team. Turned out nice and when we moved to a new server we cleared out all the plugins and put a lot of security measures in place to help admin/mods keep control of the spammers.
  17. Just thinking out aloud here. I have a second unused key so, could I set up that with V6 clean install, install a cache drive (FYI I don't have one at the moment, just a mounted apps drive) and set it up at my leisure. Then if I got stuck or run out of time I can shutdown and put my V5 in like nothing happened? Is that possible? Or does V6 do something to my files, or parity or something that means there's no going back? How big does a cache have to be also? Would a 250Gb 5400 notebook hard drive do? The V6 upgrade part I can handle it's setting up all these dockers instead of the plugins. Can I use my exisiting settings stored on my apps drive with the new docker apps, or do I start from scratch? Plex would have to index if I don't and that's messy, and Sickbeard programed with stuff I'm following.
  18. Me too, it's such a useful feature, and just a toggle for what shares you want protected would have been great. I have a Synology Diskstation, and to be honest unraid will probably rival it with V6, now that there is dropbox and crashplan support and a few other nice things. Plus they will talk to the UPS together (one is running NUT, the other APCUPSD). If I can get V6 running the way I like my Diskstation I'll be selling it in favour of another HP Microserver Unraid machine asap.
  19. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Upgrading_to_UnRAID_v6 I agree. I think a dedicated thread for info about upgrading would be nice. Seems to be a lot of people following this guide, but the reason I started this thread was because I had questions, and there didn't seem to be a dedicated thread to discuss them.
  20. Thanks RobJ, it sounds like I just have to get in there an do it. Everyone seems to be raving about v6 so I don't think it's a bad move. Questions. Does the V6 have a recycle bin? I was using VFS_recycle on my V5 machine which I really liked. It was great for that oops I didn't mean to delete that moment.
  21. Hi, I had a little look around and couldn't see where I was supposed to ask this, and I couldn't see anyone else asking in a thread apart from the announcements thread so here goes. I currently have a V5 set up, 3 data drives, 1 parity (2Tb) and a 120Gb Apps drive which I mount on start up for storing my plugins data. No cache drive. It's on a Plus licence and I have another unused key too. So my question is what's the best way to upgrade? I've read the upgrade guide and I could handle doing that ok, but I'm also wondering if I should bite the bullet and start over again? What format is best for the drives? I see we now have 3 formats to choose from! If I upgrade I'll just keep using the reiserfs format, is that ok? Also does anyone have a good way of copying over all my settings to the new system for the plugins, which will now I assume be docker. It took me ages to get my V5 the way I want it and I suppose I'm a little worried about having to fumbled by way though a V6 and all the issues with things not working (SB, SAB etc). Cheers.
  22. Great stuff Gary. I'm in the process of doing exactly the same for my data. I have to admit I've been a slack in keeping my data safe, but 2 drives went down without warning, making recovery difficult (one even passes a SMART test! and the other only a minor issue) in my PC last week, and luckily I had backups of the important stuff. Still it was a tense few days, and I've purchased a new backup server so that I now have 2 servers (unraid and Synology) to backup to each other, and then a further backup and offsite backup. It might seem OCD to some, but it's insurance against losing photos, and important documents. Thanks for the checksum info, I'll get on to that next because I was wondering how to go about checking the data integrity!
  23. skoj, you can't preclear a drive assigned to the array. If you want to preclear it you will have to stop the array, remove it from the array, then preclear and then assign it back to the array.
  24. That makes sense flomaster. Hopefully someone can confirm if mine will be okay, currently running unraid as unaligned, but preclearing I force -A aligned. Will it be okay? Also, what speeds did you get during preclear? The first read I was getting great speed, starting at 150MB/s, and the same during writing to the drive, then when I checked the post read it's only at 1/3 of the speed at 50MB/s. Any idea if that's normal?
  25. Flomaster, I'm running 4.7 too, and I've got the same drive ST2000DM001 and I've just started a preclear with -A. I read a post by Joe L. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10198.msg99785;topicseen#msg99785 that stated "Use the MBR-4k alignment for everything. A disk that is aligned at a 4096 byte boundary is automatically also aligned at a 512 byte boundary." I'm not sure if it's a good idea in my situation because I have 3xdrives (2x1Tb & 1x250Gb) precleared without the -A, and MBR unaligned set in unraid. I posted up my query in another thread, but no reply yet. Maybe I should have posted it in here? I figured I would be making 2 preclears anyway, so I can always change it on the second run. Are you in the same boat as me with unaligned drives in unraid, but wanting to add a bigger advanced format drive? What's your MBR set to in unraid? By the way I noticed that your drive started with sector of 64 on it's preclear, wouldn't that suggest that preclear aligned to 4k even though you didn't set it? I noticed when I loaded preclear that my drive, stock was listed as starting 63 with a 512 byte boundary and I then ran preclear it changed it to 64 (I used the -A command). Seagate state on their website that it's got some new "SmartAlign™ technology for no-hassle transition to Advanced Format 4K sector technology" but I'm not sure how that effects my preclear. I hope someone can help sort point us in the right direction, I've searched and searched and I haven't really found an answer.
