Chewwwy_
Hey There, My Current Unraid set up was working beautifully and I was about to upgrade and add a parity drive. *Always the way* One of my 8TB HDD seems to have a corrupt fileystem. I have tried running a XPS Repair and it has said couldnt find valid secondary superblock. This is my first time posting, I am not sure what information you will need to better assist me. so Appolagies in advance. I have ordered a parity drive and a replacement 8TB HDD. My questions are is there anyway I can I fix this and if not can I save the files. It also happens to be my largest HDD... Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Parity couldn't help with filesystem corruption anyway, please post diagnostics after array start. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
How did you run xfs_repair? Correct way is starting the array in maintenance mode then use the GUI or in the CLI (and since the problem is with disk4) type: xfs_repair -v /dev/md4 Quote Link to comment
Chewwwy_
I just attempted that and it has said this. I started the array in maintance mode? root@Tower:~# xfs_repair -v /dev/md4 Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... - block cache size set to 699752 entries Phase 2 - using internal log - zero log... zero_log: head block 2918059 tail block 2918024 ERROR: The filesystem has valuable metadata changes in a log which needs to be replayed. Mount the filesystem to replay the log, and unmount it before re-running xfs_repair. If you are unable to mount the filesystem, then use the -L option to destroy the log and attempt a repair. Note that destroying the log may cause corruption -- please attempt a mount of the filesystem before doing this. Quote Link to comment
Chewwwy_
so this is what it just said. Maximum metadata LSN (94:2917987) is ahead of log (1:2). Format log to cycle 97. done is it fixed? Quote Link to comment

Is there a Lost+Found directory at the top level of the drive ? Attach new diagnostics. Quote Link to comment
Chewwwy_
tower-diagnostics-20220105-2327.zip Most of it seems to be there! I will have to go through, there seems to be a Lost+Found folder. it has a bunch of thumbnails of photos I have stored.... They are all like 43kb. Quote Link to comment

Chewwwy_
How do i prevent this in the future? or put a system in place so if it does i dont loose data Quote Link to comment

Serial Number: WCT01875 ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAGS VALUE WORST THRESH FAIL RAW_VALUE 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct PO--CK 100 100 010 - 64 187 Reported_Uncorrect -O--CK 044 044 000 - 56 197 Current_Pending_Sector -O--C- 100 100 000 - 168 198 Offline_Uncorrectable ----C- 100 100 000 - 168 Since you don't have parity yet there is no way to rebuild to another disk so you will have to copy its files off. I don't suggest trying to build parity with that disk in the array. After you get parity built you could mount that disk Unassigned and copy its files to your new data disk. Don't you see the SMART warnings for that disk on the Dashboard page? Do you have Notifications setup to alert you immediately by email or other agent as soon as a problem is detected? 1 Quote Link to comment
Chewwwy_
I have seen it before, I was under the impression/told that it was not a serious issue. Obviously I was ill informed. I have reread the understanding SMARTS Report but am still not sure whats wrong with it. Is there a better resource I should read? Thank you all for your help I really appreciate it I have ordered another 2 x 8TB drives. I will set up a parity and a replace the drive! Edited January 6, 2022 by Chewwwy_ Quote Link to comment
Chewwwy_
Okay Scrap that, I just read the report when looking at the Smart Report under the Disks Settings. That makes a lot more sense.. I was downloading the smart report and reading it. Quote Link to comment
