Weird crash, some dynamix error, GUI messed up

DivideBy0

Recommended Posts

My GUI was crashed with some weird php dynamix error. I did a reboot at command line since GUI didn't work, it came back clean, but it started a parity check.  I think this is the second time I have this problem.  See attached diagnostic file created at reboot please.

Any ideas?

I think this is the problem here?

Probably you filled rootfs but it isn't full in those diagnostics since you rebooted.

rootfs is where the OS lives in RAM. Any path that isn't mounted storage is in rootfs. A typical cause would be a container with a host mapping that isn't mounted storage. If you fill rootfs the OS can't work with its own files so all sorts of things can happen.

You can check rootfs usage at the command line with this

df -h /

Thanks much Sir

That's weird. I wasn't doing anything different or weird other than just normal running?  It was up for like 90 days?

Is there a way to keep an eye on rootfs?  I am kind of annoyed with this repeating issue :(  My primary unRaid don't have this same issue. Wonder what is different as they're identically the same setup same plugins

root@NAS-UNRAID-BKP:~# df -h /

Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on

rootfs           32G  1.1G   31G   4% /

In addition to checking rootfs usage, you can also see if there is any unusual folder in rootfs

ls /

Here is what I get

bin/ boot/ dev/ etc/ home/ hugetlbfs/ init@ lib/ lib64/ mnt/ opt/ proc/ root/ run/ sbin/ sys/ tmp/ usr/ var/

I have the same thing as you:

bin/  boot/  dev/  etc/  home/  hugetlbfs/  init@  lib/  lib64/  mnt/  opt/  proc/  root/  run/  sbin/  sys/  tmp/  usr/  var/

That looks normal also.

Check rootfs usage periodically and if it seems to be increasing see if those other commands give a clue.

Will do. I may just write a quick script to dump the rootfs df to the remote syslog file. I am sure I will catch something. This is the second time it crashed like this.

Thanks again Sir

In case it's of any use/ interest, I've just had a very similar problem. GUI was messed up and controls unresponsive. Had to reboot via SSH.

It came back up and all looks to be well again.

In my case I was (in retrospect rather stupidly) rsyncing a lot of files between disks while a Parity-Sync of my new 2nd parity drive was in progress. I will hold off until the parity sync's finished before I continue with the rsync. I have 32GB of RAM, and memory's normally well under 50% usage, but my CPU's a rather elderly Xeon E3-1226 v3 @ 3.30GHz, so maybe it was that just running out of steam that caused the issue?

Here's the log output. This batch of lines was repeating seemingly indefinitely until the reboot:

rsyncing some files on the array a few days after my last post and got the same error- no parity sync happening this time, so seems that wasn't the issue. In fact, the server wasn't doing anything else.

Tried to download diagnostics, but the Unraid GUI jumps back to the Main page every few seconds. The top of it looks like this:

Earlier this week I moved my Unraid system across to new hardware based around an i5 13600K on a Z790 motherboard with 32GB DDR5 RAM.

It's been running well since I put it together a couple of days ago until I just tried running Unbalance to gather some scattered media files onto one drive. Unbalance appears to be working well, but I've just had exactly the same error occur and my GUI's broken.

When this crash happened previously I did have some unassigned devices connected, but this time it's only the array and cache/pool drives.

The only thing I remembered I'd previously done (before this started happening) is install powertop into /boot/extra following the guide on this forum.

Hi, same issue here, started giving me these errors non-stop after a run of docker-new-params and then running Unbalance to move files between disks:

I tried the 'touch /usr/local/emhttp/state/flashbackup.ini' command recommended in another thread but it doesn't help.

Any ideas?

...And the error is back.

I checked syslog, it started just after appdata backup was running @3am.

WebUI is unusable as it keeps resetting to MAIN, failing on Unassigned Devices section and keeps reloading the page.

And also at the bottom of the page another error and some buttons are missing:
