Intel Arc support

Featured Replies

Well, Unraid 7, Beta3 is Alright, but Arc is not fully there yet for me it seems.

Card: Arc 310 DG2 Revision 5

- Upon first install, Unraid does not visibly see the card.

- Install the Plugin 'Intel Top' for system analysis and it can then see the PCI address, but cannot pull analytics.

"Vendor command returned no data."

- Swap out Intel card for Nvidia Pascal, Install NVDrivers, and system can see it alright, no issue.

- Swap back to Arc310 card and Render 129 is absent from /dev/dri

But atleast the card is seen under lspci.

- IOMMU group 14:[8086:56a6] 12:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation DG2 [Arc A310] (rev 05)

- IOMMU group 15:[8086:4f92] 13:00.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation DG2 Audio Controller

(and no, These are not marked for VFIO)

- IOMMU group 30:[1a03:1150] 28:00.0 PCI bridge: ASPEED Technology, Inc. AST1150 PCI-to-PCI Bridge (rev 04)

- [1a03:2000] 29:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ASPEED Technology, Inc. ASPEED Graphics Family (rev 41)

- IOMMU group 33:[1002:1638] 30:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cezanne [Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Vega Mobile Series] (rev d8)

- IOMMU group 34:[1002:1637] 30:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller

So, while it is Beta ATM, progress is being made, but still not 'FULLY' supporting INTEL ARC just yet. :)

Edit: No, there is no function/Ability in the BIOS to disable the IMPI/BMC on this mainboard. (Asrock Rack x5704DU-2L2T)

Oke so this weekend i had some free time to spend and checked out support on unraid 6.12 rc2. I started of fresh by reinstalling my flash drive and putting back a copy of the config folder on to it.

  • What are your vm settings for the guys getting passthrough working? Any special steps taken? I keep getting code 43 after installing the latest beta drivers.

I think the issue is a conflict with a speed can you disable that in the bios and see if dg2 is seen.

Picked up an a310 and was having issues getting it to work with plex.  Upgraded to the newest unraid beta, removed the nvidia plugins that I previously had, set /dev/dri/renderD128 as a device in the plex container, enabled the a310 in plex settings.  Whenever I streamed something it always loaded the CPU rather than the GPU.  Tried a HDMI dummy plug still no dice.  After searching for about 30 minutes someone recommended streaming to something outside of my network.  Took my phone and disconnected it from Wifi.  The GPU showed a load with my android phone.  After that the GPU was used for everything off network and on network.  Tried removing the HDMI dummy plug and rebooted the server.  The proper behavior persisted after this.  Just wanted to pass along this unlikely solution that worked for me.

I finally moved to latest beta hopping that I can use my Arc 380 with Plex official docker and unfortunatelly no luck

Any advice what can be done?

GPU statistics reply with Vendor command returned no data  when I select Arc GPU

Arc gpu and audio in different IOMMU groups

In plex container extra parameters I put  --device=/dev/dri

and as device /dev/dri

also tried as device /dev/dri/renderD128

No idea how to make GPU to work for me ^(

You need to install intel GPU top for GPU stat to get data.

Have you enabled hardware transcode in Plex settings?

I have Intel GPU top, hw transcode in enabled, but I can only select Raphael (I have 7900x as CPU)

However I tried to-reinstall plugin and type in console intel_gpu_top

In response I have that "No device filter specified and no discrete/integrated i915 devices found"

But in GPU statistics and devices I can see my Arc GPU, strange

root@Fortress:/dev/dri# ls
by-path/  card0  renderD128
root@Fortress:/dev/dri#

in dev dri seems card is visible

intel_gpu_top -L will list the gpus. I suspect it is trying the AMD. do -L and then use -d with the pci info

Ok top is only seeing the AMD device. Suggest starting a new thread with your diagnostics as looks like the card does not have a driver attached if you say it is showing in lspci etc.

Unlucky me :(

What does this provide.

root@computenode:~# lspci -ks 0000:03:00.0
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation DG2 [Arc A770] (rev 08)
        Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 1020
        Kernel driver in use: i915
        Kernel modules: i915
root@computenode:~#

if i915 is not shown do modprobe i915 and try again. You may have the driver blacklisted.

Have a look in system drivers at the i915 driver.

Funniest thing that while I was away my server got frozen and I had to force reboot. And now GPU is showing in Plex and also GPU statistics, apart of power usage :(

From what I have in Plex settings is:

Extra parameters:  --device=/dev/dri/renderD128

And 2 devices just in case with value:

/dev/dri

/dev/dri/renderD128

intel_gpu_top reply with

intel-gpu-top: Intel Dg2 (Gen12) @ /dev/dri/card0 - 1566/2448 MHz;   0% RC6;     1011 irqs/s

intel_gpu_top -L reply with attached

I have a feeling that re-installing intel_gpu_top and my accidental force reboot helped to GPU start working

GPU top does not provide power readings for dg2

  • 1 month later...

Is it any way to check GPU power state?

Now I am tired to fight with the fan rump ups for the arc GPU's

Do I need to do something in bios to send arc to sleep?)

  • 2 weeks later...

Let's start with my personal conclusion: Intel DG1 did't work at 7.0-rc1.

CPU: AMD R7 5700G

MEM: 32G 3200

GPU: INTEL DG1

UNRAID VERSION: 7.0-rc1

Firstly, I search for details, it told me I need change driver settings, I use force_probe. After I reboot, video output clearly seems it work (significantly higher resolution), "/dev/dri" folder has something now.

After that, I‘m trying to make jellyfin use hardware transcoding, but it failed. Then I realized driver still didn`t working, "intel_gpu_top" didn't output details of my card.

7zDv9CAf3ZItbwN.png

Maybe 7.0-beta2 can work beacuse higher vision of linux kernel, but ungrade OS isnt a good option for me. My friend told me maybe I need change grub configuration, but I don't know how to change unraid's grub configuration.

I know this thread is old but if anyone is having issues, one thing to check is to make sure REBAR is set to YES/ENABLED in the BIOS.

I have had an ARC A310 working since 7.0 Beta 1

For Jellyfin, you need to not only pass the extra paramters through to the container but in the transcoder settings for jellyfin, you need to specify "/dev/dri/renderD128" in the text field. (as the sub-text explains) After that you need to actually transcode something for it to register anything in the intel top.

I solved this problem with Xe driver inside kernel not i915.

now it works fine.
