bobC
I would like to permanently remove a drive from the array, if I unassigned a slot, it does not allow me to decrease total number of slots. I would like to remove a smaller drive and let parity rebuild the data on to other existing disks. anyone ever do this/ Bob Quote Link to comment

bobC
Thank you, I was not aware of that, lucky the drive is still intact but there was some data on it I wanted, luckily the files are accessible by mounting as an unassigned drive, so once parity restructure is done, I should be able to move the files over to the appropriate folders Appreciate the info!! Hi, is there a way to distribute the files to other disks before removing the drive automatically? Thanks Quote Link to comment

There is no fully automated process for this, but what you need to do is covered here in the online documentation accessible via the Manual link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI. In addition every forum page has a DOCS link at the top and a Documentation link at the bottom. Quote Link to comment
