December 6, 201312 yr I hate to bump this, but is there any chance of this being combined into one plugin? That's a good idea, nacat78. Both plugins come from the Plexapp site, and are written by different people. 'spidi' and 'Benni-chan'. Let's take the request over to the forums.plexapp.com site.
December 6, 201312 yr ok just looked closer at your screen shot. All your data is in: /mnt/user/tv (252 GB) and is stored physically on /mnt/disk1/tv (208GB) and /mnt/disk2/tv (43.7Gb) HOWEVER, you are pointing plexgui at: /mnt/disk1/tv (0 GB) See the difference? You need to point it at: /mnt/user/tv I'm not going to address the fact yet that technically plex SHOULD be seeing at least the data I can tell is in /mnt/disk1/tv because lets get everything right. That means, you also need to use the Unraid Share's tab to delete your "disk1" and "disk2" SHARE that i can clearly see in your screen shot and from the results of the last "ls" command. shit this might just be easier via hangouts ... I have deleted the disk1 and disk2 share i have deleted the tv folder location in plexgui and re-added it by using the add folder button https://www.dropbox.com/s/znvouzaizpy7yls/Screenshot%202013-12-06%2016.41.04.png still the same, not see any of the tv folders, but moving forward I think. should the plex installation location of the share still show as disk1 as I dont have a cache drive and have not ammended that at all. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ylf7avvo8zuo2pv/Screenshot%202013-12-06%2016.43.02.png thanks a lot russ

The plex package from Plex Co. has the bare minimal "UnRaid-ness" required to make it install in UnRaid. It does its job and is as immune to changes in unraid behavior as is possible (read: they only have to worry about plex changes and not UnRaid changes as well). Plex Co will / should only be worried about the bare minimum non-plex stuff they have in terms of platform specific overhead needed to make it work (i.e. knowledge, coding effort, and customer support). Frankly, we are that they still do what they do now for UnRaid. At one point they were "threatening" to cease support for UnRaid because it was becoming a tech support headache for them with not enough payback. Luckily they changed their mind because the issue got sorted with an UnRaid update. Establishing bug responsibility was the sticking point and they got tired of dealing with a problem that was indeed ultimately UnRaids to solve.. I know it would be nice to have it as one package, but it just won't happen. It isn't that big of a deal so long as you take your OCD meds >;-) PS: the actual Plex install package is not made by Spidi. It is made by Plex Co. You are right about Benni-Chan being the updater author. So as you see ... merging would mean asking Plex Co. to do something extra they aren't already doing which adds overhead.

So what exact path did you use to add TV to your plex library? It should be something like /mnt/user/tv. If it is not ... then why not? Your plex config in unraid (library and temp locations) should both be pointed at /mnt/disk1/[whatever you used]

December 6, 201312 yr hmmm well shiiiiit. This might best be addressed in the plex forums since it really does now seem as if you have everything setup correctly.
December 6, 201312 yr Thanks ever so much for all your efforts. It really is appreciated. I think just before I throw in the towel I will fully un-install everything, delete all plugins etc and re-download all items required and start from scratch with the walkthrough. then i can honestly say i have given it my best shot. cheers russ

I had to was wait 3 days for a response in the Plex forums! lol EDIT: To be fair they were very helpful.

Just great.
December 6, 201312 yr Well I meant that after the 3 days the Plex users were helpful, it just took forever! and yes, unRaid users are awesome!
December 6, 201312 yr I will say if you are a plex pass member, then if you post to the Ask A Ninja forum they tend to be pretty responsive. I am just worried that we've reached the limit of troubleshooting and it has been many days. A three day wait for one response, the right one, is at least as useful as the week I've spent being "helpful" but wholly ineffective
December 7, 201312 yr Looking at the troubleshooting taken place lately I think we should consider using some sort of remote support tool like TeamViewer when it comes to tricky problems like these. Personally I wouldn't mind using 15-30 minutes online trying to solve the problem since it certainly takes more time when doing async text based troubleshooting. If we had a recommended tool to do this, it would it make easier to initiate. I have no personal experience on TeamViewer but the reviews seem good and it's free for private use.
December 7, 201312 yr I have used both TeamViewer and LogMein. I settled on LogMein for day-to-day remote into my home network from work, but I think TeamViewer is probably better suited to these remote support situations. Both products have free versions.
December 8, 201312 yr russlock, I use the /mnt/user/xxx myself. I think your install may be all mucked up. format and reinstall your unRAID flash and setup plex first after fully installed. Take all usual precautions about disk locations before reinstalling. disk1,disk2 etc are storage and user/xxx are shares. Although I do agree that in any usual circumstance plex should have seen the disk shares. Kryspy

I had to was wait 3 days for a response in the Plex forums! lol EDIT: To be fair they were very helpful. The problem with the plex forums is that plex is now far too large to be supported on multiple platforms. None of the staff use plex on unraid and simply provide a package for us. The support is mainly done by its users and their experiences. I view both forums regularly and see a lot of crossover troubleshooting, but if you want official support one needs to be a plexpass member and ask for help in the plexpass support section.
December 11, 201312 yr WORKING - YAHAY Decided to take the plunge and start a new installation. new usb stick, new unraid install, transferred shares and other vital info from old stick to new one. booted, seen all shares easily loaded new install of plex and set up as per previous posts and BOOM it worked straight away even though I had deleted and reinstalled on many occasions from the old usb stick there must have been a file still held in a location on the stick somewhere that stopped everything working. I now just need to find out how to put MySQL on this new stick and transfer the info from the old one to the new one. ( need to find out what to transfer first ) thanks to everyone for all their help during the post and I would love to be able to actually pinpoint why it wasn't working on the old setup, at least it is now working. regards russ
December 15, 201312 yr Hey guys, I've posted a request on this thread for help before so let me first apologize for the redundancy of my help request. I figure at this point, the best I can do to ask for help is to provide as many details as possible in the hopes that somebody can point out something obvious that I am doing wrong. The issue I am having with Plex is that if I delete a file from a user share, it does not acknowledge it in any library update. Only going to the individual entry does it then show the media as unavailable. So as far as the relevant info, here goes. I connect to my Unraid box (Version 5.0.4) via a samba share and manually delete any watched files using windows explorer. Since there is no way to batch remove episodes from Plex, I find this the easiest way to delete a bunch of files at once. I just re-ran the new permissions utility in case I had permissions issues. Here are my Plex (.9.8.6.175) library settings - as you can see everything is set to update automatically when changes in the library are detected: Here are my plugin settings And the settings for the folder where Plex has it directories: Lastly, one of the shares that is having the problem - which, if it matters, has an orange dot next to it in the user share listing. Thanks for any and all help in advance. I'll be happy to provide any more info if needed
December 15, 201312 yr The issue I am having with Plex is that if I delete a file from a user share, it does not acknowledge it in any library update. Only going to the individual entry does it then show the media as unavailable. MODS: Should this be a new thread? hgelpke: As I understand PLEX, it only ADDS new shows to the library automatically. It doesn't track deletions. (and it also doesn't do well with 'rearrangements' of your files into new folders, etc.) Have you tried 'Turbo Scan' or 'Deepscan'? They are in an 'Advanced Dropdown on the PLEX interface. I've attached a screenshot of where they appear on my Mac...They are designed to be started manually and 'as needed.'
December 15, 201312 yr To quote plex, "By default the media server doesn't remove information for media right away. This helps if a drive is temporarily disconnected. When you empty the trash for a section, all information about missing media is deleted." The option to empty trash is under "more" on the home page. There is also a setting in setting|library called "Empty trash automatically after every scan" to do all the cleanup for you automatically if you know you won't regularly have media disappearing because you are using something like a usb drive. I suspect more unraid users aren't doin that
December 15, 201312 yr Plex actually does very well with moved files. There is a trick though, and it is explained here: http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNine_Tips_and_Tricks#Move_the_media_files_to_a_new_location This is especially useful if you are actually changing the name of your shares and have to change the location of a Library. For example I chose to name my shares "My [Movies|TV Shows|Video|Music]". Recently I decided to eliminate the "My" prefix. I followed the instructions above and it worked perfectly. This was especially important for me as I had already created all my index files which took several days. I did not want to have to do that all again. If all you do is relocate a file within a share then Plex still sees it in the same Library source and should really handle it just fine. But I'd suggest following the basics of the above instructs. That is, turn off deletions, copy the file, rescan, verify new copy works, delete old copy. At that point you can turn auto deletion back on. There is a chance Plex will still think there are two copyies of the media at that point, so you could always manually empty the trash.
December 15, 201312 yr One more PS ... Turbo and Deep scan now are the same thing under the hood. It was a change a few weeks ago in the PlexPass only versions. The recent 9.8.14 public release incorporated that change. They have just not updated the webgui yet. But functionally they do the exact same thing now.
