November 26, 201312 yr That is jacked indeed. any way to move your ssd off the SAS card even if only to test? That was my next step..Glad you mentioned cause was thinking how unRAID would react if I switched disks around like that,i.e., swap disk1 on MOBO port with SSD on SAS(BO cable P7)
November 26, 201312 yr Can anyone confirm that an Oppo 93 will work correctly with this version of Plex?

That was my next step..Glad you mentioned cause was thinking how unRAID would react if I switched disks around like that,i.e., swap disk1 on MOBO port with SSD on SAS(BO cable P7) UnRaid should not care about moving array drives around (it used to). The same should apply for the appdrive assuming you did your script like I suggested which just looks for the drive itself and is not tied to a port. Of course double check your array status on reboot to make sure everything is working correctly.
November 26, 201312 yr Can anyone confirm that an Oppo 93 will work correctly with this version of Plex? which version? you mean the unraid version? that should make no difference. either the Oppo 93 works with current plex or it does not. I specific "current" because that is of course the only version you should be running. Either 9.8 public-release or 9.9 plexpass-release for which the unraid package is up to date on both versions.
November 26, 201312 yr that would be a question to ask (after first searching) at the plex forums ;-)
November 26, 201312 yr @JumperAlex... Well I'm almost positive that either my SAS card is failing or I have a bad BO cable and not PMS because my Disk8 just fell out of my array and is now RedBalled marked as disabled! I'm about to post to the Hardware thread for advice on how to troubleshoot/diagnose SAS issues. One thing I do not want to do is mount the array and get anymore red balls. Thanks again bro!
November 26, 201312 yr [sucks in a breath] well now ... I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. I mean just because your array has red balled ... haha yeah just kidding of course. That sucks. Good luck. When it comes to SAS I'm out of my element.
November 29, 201312 yr Can we make this the default plugin to install. https://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/51827-unraid-update-plugin/
November 29, 201312 yr Can we make this the default plugin to install. https://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/51827-unraid-update-plugin/ That's Brilliant! I didn't realize how far behind my PlexMediaServer plugin had become! Thanks!
December 1, 201312 yr Hi all. I hope somebody might be able to help me. I have posted this also in the Plex / Unraid forum but have hit a blank wall. I have installed PMS on the newest version of Unraid. I have all the naming conventions for the files correct. I have ran the permissions re-booted many times and the problem remains the same the plex gui shows the sections I have added, i.e movies, music etc but there is nothing contained in them. when I choose to refresh, scan or deep scan a message instantly comes up on the bottom of the screen saying library scan complete. but still there is nothing in the sections. it must be something I am doing which is so simple but I am missing the problem here. any help by anyone would be much appreciated. thanks
December 1, 201312 yr My immediate guess is that you are not pointing the library sections to the right place. When you create the library you need to point to //tower/mnt/user/[sharename] or if you aren't using user shares and only exporting disks, then similarly you should be pointing your library at //tower/disk?/[folder if appropriate] Did you do that?
December 1, 201312 yr ...what Jumper said. OR, if you're using a cache drive for your PLEX application and media database, then setup could be: Library Directory: /mnt/cache/applications/Plex/library Temp Directory: /mnt/cache/applications/Plex/temp

OR, if you're using a cache drive for your PLEX application and media database, then setup could be: Library Directory: /mnt/cache/applications/Plex/library Temp Directory: /mnt/cache/applications/Plex/temp Seems to be some confusion about this. First, to me it seems like you are talking about two totally different things. JumperAlex is talking about the library section folder definition (eg. for movies, tv-series) and DaleWilliams is talking about the installation folders of the PMS itself. Since OP already has Plex Web interface running the installation itself is right but the library section definition seems to be incorrect. So JumperAlex is on the right track. Secondly, the folder names suggested by JumperAlex seem a bit complicated and at least partly wrong. The easiest way to define a correct folder path is to use the "Add folder" button in the "Edit section" of the Plex Web interface. It will show all the available shares (disk and user). Normally you want to always use user shares for libarary sections since then you don't have to do anything when a new disk is added. So recommended definition should be: /mnt/user/movies OR if you want to for any reason use disk shares then it would be: /mnt/disk1/movies /mnt/disk3/movies /mnt/disk5/hd-movies I haven't tried using the servername "//tower" in the front so I cannot say whether it works or not but it's definitely not needed and the Plex Web interface does not produce such paths. Edit: Just tried with "//tower/mnt/user/movies" and it did not work. When I removed the "//tower" it started to work again.
December 1, 201312 yr I think I am in the right area.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pq9ns2bsvajtxe6/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2017.06.54.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/0dvlpleveuui1mz/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2017.11.18.png but after adding the folders by the correct manner, the library scan still shows nothing. also there is no scan logs.
December 1, 201312 yr On the unRAID web page...Settings tab...for Plex Media Server, does it work if you make this change: Library directory: /mnt/disk1/apps/Plex/library That works for me.
December 1, 201312 yr On the unRAID web page...Settings tab...for Plex Media Server, does it work if you make this change: Library directory: /mnt/disk1/apps/Plex/library That works for me. It shouldn't if you had installed the Plex according to the only "official" guide. It's of course far from official but it simply works and I've been trying to recommend it when ever I have a chance. Just don't deviate one bit and you should be safe. To be clear, it's trivial to install Plex if you know what you are doing. If you don't know just follow the guide to the letter I think I am in the right area.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pq9ns2bsvajtxe6/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2017.06.54.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/0dvlpleveuui1mz/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2017.11.18.png but after adding the folders by the correct manner, the library scan still shows nothing. also there is no scan logs. First make sure you have installed Plex according to the steps in the guide I mentioned above. If not, just start all over, it is faster to start from scratch than to try to debug unknown situation. Once you have a working Plex installation then you should define the folders in the Plex Web gui like I showed in my previous post. The screenshots you posted are from the unRAID web gui (http://tower), not from the Plex web gui (http://tower:32400/web). Since you mentioned that you had a Plex library section I thought you were already in the right place. I don't have a chance right now to take screenshots of a working library section definition but if needed I can post them later.
December 1, 201312 yr Hi Henris. Thanks for the help. I followed the setup which was the walk through I had been using to the letter. I have attached the screenshot of the PMS folder scan and this still says "scan of library complete" within a split second, but nothing in the sections. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z6zi615nl0rk2vl/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2022.31.15.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/iw8tk5hcaasendx/Screenshot%202013-12-01%2022.40.11.png have ran permissions 3 times, upgraded unraid to most recent, downgraded back to 5.0 rc5 as well as un-installed and re-installed many many times.

Maybe also an unRAID screenshot of the shares you're trying to get Plex to see. Is your tv share really named tv and not TV or Tv? Linux is case sensitive.
December 1, 201312 yr Hello Forum @ russlock I had this same exact issue a few months ago and tried all the suggestions from fellow unRAID users all to no avail! What I ended up doing was to back-up my unRAID files in “flash”, wiping and reformatting my USB Flash stick and then installed the latest version of unRAID and PMS. Magically PMS started scanning files without issue. I realize this idea is a bit drastic, but it worked for me when all other suggestions failed! If you decide to try this method, please read-up on the other steps necessary on this page under unRAID Installation on new Flash Device http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Upgrade_Instructions Once you have verified your new insall is working properly, follow the suggestions posted in this thread.
December 2, 201312 yr It shouldn't if you had installed the Plex according to the only "official" guide. Yikes! I use a link that I found somewhere in the forums...I thought it was the correct link! I'm pretty sure it was the link in post #1 of this thread. Henris, do you have a link to better instructions? Then I'll shut up and go read the official guide to see what else I missed! Thanks.
December 2, 201312 yr Don't stress too much about the instructions. The location of the plex library and tmp folder is 100% up to you. The only thing that matters is that it goes where YOU want it and expect it. For example I have them set as: /mnt/appdisk/plex/Library /mnt/appdisk/plex/tmp I used to use this before I had a dedicated SSD app drive: /mnt/cache/plex/Library /mnt/cache/plex/tmp The link in post #1 says: /mnt/cache/appdata/plex/library /mnt/cache/cachetmp/plextmp Frankly I find that pointlessly complex but to each their own. The important thing is that the location is visible to PMS (not hidden) and has the right permissions. So that does then beg the next question, confirm that you have created a share called [anything you want] and that you have set it to "cache only". Based on above, examples would be "plex", "appdata", etc and that of course you have put those in the PMS config screen. If you mismatched then i believe plex web gui will still run ( i think it happened to me once) but it won't work right. Another user had a problem where it would scan for a while and then run our of memory because he was actually pointed at a ram based cache. Go ahead and export your share so that you can look at the log files to see what is going on. That should ultimately answer your dilemma. Next would be to look at permissions for your TV, Movie, etc shares. Might be worth running/rerunning "New Permissions" on unraid to be safe. As far as the library location, the only difference is that I mention //tower in addition to /mnt/user/share ... because I wanted to be explicite. In the actual Plex Gui you will indeed only see /mnt/user/[share]/[deeper folders if needed]
