February 8, 20251 yr I received the Kernel thanks to @FadedSun Gotta say, it didn´t work for me. Couldn´t mount my ZFS Mirror cache pool with the new kernel and it also somehow fragged my docker image. Didn´t have the time to do deeper investigations as i had to bring the machine up again. Maybe someone else that has ZFS running on a test machine can give it a shot and confirm this behavior?! TL;DR: Beware using this on your productive system! I will wait for the next beta now.

Yeah I mention in my original post that I've heard it wouldn't work with ZFS. I should probably add that to my private messages with the link as a reminder. I'm sorry it messed up your docker, I haven't heard of anyone having that issue before, or any permanent problems for that matter. Everyone else that had something not working was just able to put the original files back and things were back to normal. Thanks for the reminders to others though to be cautious with unofficial stuff.

Speculating, but I would imagine a good few months. I asked about this in the Discord a few days ago and was advised at least 14th gen (my N150) wouldn't be supported until the 7.1 release. If you were tossing up between waiting for an official release for support and trying FadedSun's kernel for example, I would probably recommend you don't wait if you can help it I managed to get my N150's hardware transcoding working for plex within like 20 minutes, super easy.

I have the basically the same motherboard (asus prime z890-p wifi) and cpu, The mb nic will work if you install the unraid realtec driver plugin however i just put in a TP-Link TX401 10gbe to use instead which works great out of the box. The 245k IGPU will not work with the current kernal without the previously mentioned kernal upgrade however I just put in a very cheap intel arc a310 gpu (supports the same codecs as the igpu) which works for all my encode/decode needs. This mobo/cpu combo with 8 hard drives and 2 nvme's and 10gbe nic and arc a310 idles at 88 watts, 110-130 with hard drives spinning and near 200watts in handbrake doing full encodes. Great to know the power consumption of your setup, (I track my solar generation/ consumption/ battery usage etc, intend to automate more as I learn Home Assistant) I bought this mb / cpu to run distilled local ai models and intend to add a gpu later to run something like deepseek R1. Hopefully more support gets updated in the kernel soon as I picked this cpu for the igpu until I get a decent gpu

For my purposes i can get away without using the igpu yet or having a gpu until i add one later for use with ollama and ai models. I havent done much testing yet, but my system (details in signature) is running at 56-60watts just running dockers (plex, home assistant, sungather, observer). Occasional spike to 70watts every couple of min. The Sungather is polling my solar inverter every 10 seconds, sending data to mqtt while the Home Assistant reads the sensors and updates some templates/automations etc. While streaming on plex it mostly still was 62 watts with a spike to 85 watts every min or so (no gpu) Ram usage is 13% (3.6gb system and 4.3gb docker) Temperatures of all hard drives are 33 - 36°C except for the nvem m.2 which is at 56 degrees (added to the cache pool). i have ordered a heat sink for that. MB temp 27.8°C and cpu 42°C . The under stair section (currently 28°C it is in doesnt have great airflow and the Eaton ups seems to push out a lot of heat, so ill add an old ixl in line fan that runs at 40 watts, on an automated switch to trigger over a certain temp threshold to vent the room better. February 15, 20251 yr I installed the ollama (LLM) integration with Home Assistant, running the llama3.2 model. (3B parameters with 1.87GB) When it is responding it spiked (full cpu usage since i dont have a gpu) to 220watts, hovered around 190-200watts for 2-10 sec depending on the query, then down to 100-150 watts while finishing its response (5-10 words per sec response), back to 60 idle. (Specs in signature) The Home assistant UI seems to provide faster responses than the OpenWebUI, but the HA template does provide it a system prompt that it is a HA assistant to that likely narrows it focus. I used ImageUSB to create a image to write to a new USB (license will need to be ported over if you go this route) https://www.osforensics.com/tools/write-usb-images.html Copy all 4 files below on to the flash drive overwriting the files already there. ASPM works fine with this kernel driver. 8125E is currently getting made to deploy on future Arrow Lake MB's and NIC's. I think these revisions fix power consumption and ASPM. I have not tested EEE yet.

I did however still enable all SATA power saving features in the BIOS. $ cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy med_power_with_dipm My storage is a Crucial T500 on the chipset with ASPM fully confirmed to work. T500 has very low idle power consumption. My only theories left is A) missing a BIOS setting B) BIOS bug.
