AirVideo Media Server Plugin for unRAID v5b11+ (Updated: 29-Mar-2013)

Featured Replies

i am running unraid 5rc3

I have been running air video using the unmenu install.

I had been looking forward to seeing an air video plugin and decided to install it.

I disabled my unmenu airvideo version, and put the new plugin into the boot/config dir

I rebooted

It seems to have installed, and i can see my movies, however, everyone says invalid

Any idea what might be the cause.....  They all worked fine with the old air video

Thanks

Joe

Did you disable all the prerequisite packages in unmenu ?  Otherwise you will have double stuff running and that will cause issues...

Helmonder,

Yes, i had renamed the old unmenu air video files.

Then rebooted...

I can see the new airvideo icon in settings and can access the settings.

But when i use my iphone the files are there and i can select various files but they display invalid

As soon as i return the unmenu air video files (located in packages dir) back to normal, reboot

Now all files display and play fine....

Maybe you did what I asked but I am not sure based on your answer... You write you have renamed the airvideo packages, but did you also disable the PREREQUISITE packages needed for unraid ?  You would need to mark them "do not install on reboot" and then restart the array..

So not only the airvideo package but also the underlying packages, there a few..

Sorry i was not clearer,  I have disabled the unmenu airvideo selection in the package manager.

After the reboot, the package manager air video package  displayed not installed.

This did not clear the problem.

I then decided to rename all the files associated with the package version to to be sure no previous files being used

Rebooted - no change.

As for the prerequisite packages - i am not aware of any, and have not loaded any specific for unmenu air video

It is possible i had loaded them for other packages, but i definitely did not load any specifically for  the air video package

Joe.

That is weird... there are several packages that you need for airvideo to work which are not part of the package... I remember that you need to pre-install the C Compiler and JRE Java..

If you did not install them because of airvideo you probably are using those because of another package which could still be the cause of a conflict... Check if you have them enabled, disable them, reboot and retry the plugin...

Helmonder,

Helmonder,

That did it !

I disabled the unmenu jre and c+ compiler

Rebooted and air video came up fine works with all files..

All other packages  are working as well

Thanks for the Help

Joe

OP amended to reflect current version in the instructions.  I figured by providing a link to 0.5, people would make the necessary amendments to my instructions whilst installing.  But then assumption is the mother of all f*ck-ups eh  ;)

Everything works perfectly!

One thing though

I've got a map named "Homevideo's" but it seems airvideo doesnt let it use " ' "

it automatically changes to "Homevideos"

What version of Airvideo server is compiled into this package ?  I would like to use the "Remote Access" option of airvideo (available in the later versions of the server). The options however are not available in the setup section of the package (so either they are not made available and I need to edit them in a config file somewhere (not a problem is anyone knows where it is) or this package is based on a somewhat older release of airvideo and the option is not in yet ..

Helmonder,

I built the plugin based on the version of AirVideo in use with UnMenu at the time.  As you've probably surmised, I wrapped everything into a single "airvideo.tgz" which is downloaded during install from my Dropbox.  The original links on the InMethod site would be;

http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/download/linux/alpha6/AirVideoServerLinux.jar

http://inmethod.com/air-video/download/ffmpeg-for-2.4.5-beta6.tar.bz2

Regarding Remote Access, I assume you mean as referenced here : http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/remote-access.html ?

If so then I don't think the option exists within the Linux version as there's nothing available for setting up UPnP or PIN codes etc.  I'm guessing that's handled by the Windows / OSX server application but for Linux all you have is the java .jar file.  You can still use Remote Access by manually forwarding port 45631 through your router.

I see AirVideo Server v2.4.6-beta1 is released, but I'm not sure what is involved to update as it looks like a later version of ffmpeg is used.  This would need to be re-compiled and tested before a new version of the plugin could be issued.

Unfortunately it looks like development of the Linux server is dead. With the new server release the Linux server is now two versions behind. It looks like the Linux server port was a one man project and that guy appears to be MIA. I'm hoping someone will pick up where the last guy left off so we can get the new server features. x264 passthrough in the latest server would be really nice.

All, I've amended my plugin for the latest version of AirVideo (2.4.6-beta3).

The main reason for doing the update is that it allows for H.264 pass-through, meaning if you playback non-native video formats such as those in .mkv's, then the video is no longer re-encoded on-the-fly but played back as it is, which results in quite massive CPU savings.

I'm reluctant to update the first post until I know it's okay as the new AirVideo server uses libav instead of ffmpeg, so quite a fundamental change and required me to self-build libav and x264 to get it working.

Forum member mrow has been helping test it prior to release but he has reported that although everything works, he saw an issue with pause and resume during a live conversion, where pausing a video and later resuming did not work and needed the Done button pressing to close the video before restarting live conversion playback.  At this time I'm not sure if the problem is unique to mrow or if it's something from the new plugin or even AirVideo itself.

If anyone else want's to try the later version, please drop me a PM and I'll send you a link to the later plugin.

Thanks,

overbyrn

Dear overbyrn,

Thanks for your efforts in developing this plugin.

Just managed to install your 5-th version and was surprised about the overall smooth performance.

I would be glad to test your latest non public version and to send you some feedback.

Best regards.

EDITED: May I change the encoding options for the subtitles? I use Cyrillic  subtitles for my movies and never mind what options i choose from the air-video backend in my device I have always get some strange characters. Probably I have to chose koir-8 but haven't found such options in the config menu?

The Java download does not work.  Can anyone point me to another way/place to get the install?  The problem is the JRE file is no longer in the directory it points to.

Thanks,

Steve

Just got this working.  This is awesome!  Thanks for your work on this!

Cheers,

Steve
