cbr600ds2
Once thiis all set up and running fine Can I uninstall GCC and BZip off my flash? Also - Mine also fails to print and I'm pretty sure all my settings are the same. In the printer queue it says sending the printer and print complete but surprisingly the printer physically does nothing. At all... Running beta11. syslog-2011-08-22_1.txt Quote Link to comment

Yes, you should be able to remove GCC and bzip, though bzip is use for a number of packages. Your settings are not correct You have /dev/usbl0 and it should more than likely be /dev/usblp0 Quote Link to comment

cbr600ds2
Silly question but this only prints out EVERYTHING, right? I can't print page-at-a-time? Quote Link to comment
prostuff1
Silly question but this only prints out EVERYTHING, right? I can't print page-at-a-time? The print daemon can't control that. You would need to do that from the controls on the computer, just like most printers work. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
Ok. As far as I can read on the syslog the WINDOZE machine is connected to the server but its not sending/receiving any of the information to print? Any ideas? It prints out ok on my MAC. would probably help if I included the actual syslog, huh? syslog-2011-08-27.txt Quote Link to comment

cbr600ds2
I figured I didn't have to do the first 3 things because its already set up to print on my mac (maybe I'm wrong) and I figured I shouldn't be getting a samsung driver because I don't have a samsung printer...am I just being obtuse? Correct, just follow those instructions but replace the samsung driver with your printer model. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
yeah that's what I did. When I initiate a print, according to the log it says it starts but no bytes are being sent/received... Sorry Kyle for being a moron... Quote Link to comment

Sorry Kyle for being a moron... No worries, I am not near a windows machine right now, but when I get a chance I will late tonight I will see what the settings look like on that machine. How did you set up the printer, and what OS are you running? Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
I am running crappy Vista (worst OS alive) and from the printers screen I hit the add a printer button. Then I chose add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer. from there I selected add a printer using a tcp/IP address or hostname For device I selected TCP/IP device and then put 192.168.0.181:9100 as the port. Protocol is Raw and the port number is 9100. Quote Link to comment

From there I had to manually change the location settings. I do not have a vista/windows 7 machine handy right now to test. I might bring my work laptop home tomorrow and do another test on windows 7 and post the steps I used if you can not get it working. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
I'll try that and let you know ------- Edited - I tried everything man (except for making a USBlp001 port like in MAC) including the following http:NETWORKADDY http://NETWORKADDY http:Skynet http://Skynet http:NETWORKADDY:9100 http://NETWORKADDY:9100 http:Skynet:9100 http://Skynet:9100 Quote Link to comment
prostuff1
I was able to get the printer set up under a Windows 7 Enterprise laptop as well The rough steps were: 1. add printer button 2. add as local printer on LPT1 port 3. find your printer and driver, if you can't find it then look on the internet for the driver first. 4. keep hitting next until you get to the "sharing printer" stuff and DO NOT share it 5. hit finish 6. right click on the new printer and select printer properties 7. then click ports 8. click add port 9. select standard tcp/ip 10. hit next 11. for printer name or IP address enter the IP address of your server 12. hit next and it will fail to detect, just let it do that 13. click "custom" 14. click the settings button 15. make sure protocol is RAW and port is 9100 16. hit next, then finish, then close, then apply. 17. You should be good to go. Quote Link to comment
cbr600ds2
I just did that with both Skynet and the internet addy and it didn't work. WTF? I get this error in syslog... Sep 2 12:26:47 Skynet p9100d[2811]: Connection from 192.168.0.198 port 61426 accepted Sep 2 12:26:57 Skynet p9100d[2811]: Finished job: 0 bytes received, 0 bytes sent Now when I run an ipconfig from the windows machine it says it's ipaddress is 192.168.0.180...Maybe that's why its not printing? How do I open it up then for the windows machine? Quote Link to comment

I used a generic text driver for the printer since I only print black and white text from my laserjet. Quote Link to comment

Lacehim
Thank you. I have my Epson R350 running on unraid now! This NAS just gets better each day! I'm using unraid 4.7 and I set usblp0 in the config, and rebooted. In windows7 I installed a new printer, as per the instructions, and it is working well. Quote Link to comment
